Fans of Tumblr should go pick up the newly released update on Google Play. The designers of the app took a massive page out of Google’s design tips, giving the app a complete Holo makeover. Needless to say, it looks quite gorgeous. Beyond the updated sexier look, you won’t find any new features or anything of that nature according to the changelog. This one was completely aesthetics.

Tumblr For Android Updated, Brings Support For Tablets

by: | posted 12.18.12 | Apps, News

The official Tumblr for Android application was updated this morning, which brings full tablet support and a new Following screen. If you haven’t updated yet, go get on that.

I haven’t been much into Tumblr, but if the above thumbnails are any indication as to what I might be missing, I think I’m going to go sign up right now. For those who don’t know, Tumblr is another sharing site, where users can post pretty much anything. Videos, pictures, text, or anything else you might want to share with your followers.

Maybe I will just stick to Instagram for now.

Android App Updates: NOVA Launcher, Adobe Flash, Adobe AIR, Facebook, Tumblr and Total Commander

by: | posted 06.08.12 | Apps, News

When Friday rolls around each week, we tend to see a bunch of app updates hit the Play store as teams finish up projects before heading into the weekend. This week is no exception, as new releases of Facebook, Tumblr, Adobe Flash and AIR, Total Commander, and Nova Launcher all showed up within the last 24 hours. Most of them were released to squash bugs, but with apps like Nova and Tumblr, we get some new goodies to talk about.

Tumblr for Android Receives Full UI Makeover, Better Photo Browsing, and More

by: | posted 04.09.12 | Apps, News

The Tumblr app for Android is finally awesome thanks to a new transformation. As you can see in the pictures, it looks nothing like previous overhaul that happened last August. This new version is fast, polished, beautiful, and functional. It also includes multi-blog notifications and something called “Tumblr Radar” which we are assuming is like Instagram’s hot image section. Go grab it.

Changelog:

  1. Totally new, beautiful interface
  2. More responsive, faster-loading dashboard and blogs
  3. Better photo browsing
  4. Notifications for multiple blogs live in one place
  5. Tumblr Radar!

Adobe Flash 11, Foursquare, Evernote, Tumblr, Google Reader, and Swiftkey X All Receive Updates

by: | posted 10.14.11 | Apps, News

Not sure what the deal is, but I had like 12 apps asking to be updated this afternoon. Flash Player 11 received some security fixes, Tumblr fixed bugs and added new post screens, Foursquare changed icons, Swiftkey X improved, and Evernote made it easier to go “Premium.” Nothing major from most of these, but you may want to cruise into your market if you haven’t been notified yet and see if anything has a new version. I guess Friday is now a prime time to update your apps before the weekend.

Cheers Mike!

Tumblr Receives a Much Needed Android Overhaul – New UI, Multi-Blog Support and More

by: | posted 08.30.11 | Apps, News

Any Tumblr users in the building?  As a user of the service, I’m actually excited to see that their team has released a major update to version 2.0.  The previous version was not the most fluid of apps and also had a variety of annoying bugs that seemed to get ignored.  In this latest build, users will enjoy a redesigned UI along with the ability to manage multiple blogs, messages and an address book all without leaving the app.

  • New interface: A total redesign centered around Android’s hardware and software.
  • Manage multiple blogs: It’s now a simple swipe to access your different blogs and manage your drafts, queue and followers on-the-go.
  • Create a post:  We’ve highlighted posting to Tumblr so you can share text, images, links, chats, quotes and videos whenever you want.
  • Messages: View and reply to messages for each of your blogs.
  • Address book: Find people to follow from your phone’s address book.
  • New users: Sign up right from the app.
  • Bonus: For quick sharing, you can post anything from your home screen via the Tumblr widget.
