DROID RAZR MAXX on the Way? Is This the HD Version of the RAZR?

by: | posted 12.02.11 | News

At this point, if a week has gone by and a new Motorola phone hasn’t been outed, then there is something wrong. As an Android OEM, no one seems to pump out devices faster than these guys. So when a new device was found in EXIF data over at Picasa, that could be their follow-up to the recently released DROID RAZR, dubbed the RAZRMAX, we are not surprised at all.

Little is known about the phone, but when you see “DROID” mixed into the name, you know it’s headed to Verizon. Since we saw two new HD screened RAZR-esque phones announced for China just last week, one could assume that one of them may end up as the RAZRMAX here in the states. “MAX” as a word in general, gives off an impression of “bonus” or “upgraded” which would fit in perfectly with an HD screen. Or could it be a bigger battery? Tough to tell from EXIF data.

DROID RAZR Specs “Confirmed” for the Umpteenth Time

by: | posted 10.14.11 | News

Quick hitter here, since it’s nothing new, but does give us the 8th, 9th or 10th confirmation on specs for the DROID RAZR. The latest report has the device with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4.3″ display, 1GB of RAM, 4G LTE and is thinner and faster than the iPhone 4S. Of course the source is going to say that, they likely work for Motorola. The thin part though, we like to hear, but aren’t surprised by after seeing a ton of photos of it now. Like I said, this new report is nothing new that we haven’t heard a dozen times by now.

And here are the other specs that we have compiled from previous reports:

  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor (could be the OMAP that is in the Galaxy Nexus)
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 4.3″ qHD Super AMOLED screen (different PenTile)
  • 4G LTE
  • Incredibly thin (possibly the thinnest phone on the market)
  • 8MP rear camera (possibly newer than what the Bionic has – meaning it actually works)
  • “HD” front camera
  • Gorilla Glass screen
  • Kevlar build materials
  • Side lock switch
  • Android 2.3.5
  • New Blue Blur

We will know for sure on Tuesday in New York, but from what we are hearing, this should be Moto’s finest effort yet. Is it enough to compete with the Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich? That battle may come down to battery life and a bootloader.

DROID RAZR Pops Up at Nenamark, Looking Like a 1.2GHz OMAP 4430?

by: | posted 10.03.11 | News

The DROID RAZR aka DROID HD aka Motorola Spyder made its first appearance in a benchmark over at Nenamark this weekend.  From a quick look at some of the details that were included, we can see that a qHD screen (960×540) is confirmed along with what should be an OMAP4430 clocked at 1.2GHz (“Turbo”). It could end up as the 4460 which runs at a minimum of 1.5GHz, but those have reportedly been delayed.  We have Verizon mentioned as the brand, but we expected that after a variety of leaks.

Rumors would peg this as one of Verizon’s big 4G LTE holiday releases – the device manager and Cellebrite sightings from the end of last week would certainly help those arguments.

DROID4 Codenamed the “Maserati,” Will Sport a Slideout Keyboard and 4G LTE?

by: | posted 09.27.11 | News, Rumors

It’s not often that we get to toss up a picture of a luxury car, but will jump at the chance as it relates to the latest rumored Motorola device.  According to members of Howard Forums, the next slideout keyboarded device from Moto will be the DROID4 or 4G and is known internally as the “Maserati.”  Sound familiar?  I’m going to assume that this is the same device our Panda friend mentioned a few weeks back during his Nexus poem.  Many of you caught his comment on it and starting looking for answers immediately.

It’s reported as having a 4″ or so screen, no d-pad, a removable battery and 4G LTE capabilities, something that should have been included in the DROID3.  No other details at this time.  Feel free to take it as a rumor, but this HoFo member claims to have held the Spyder as well, so we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Keyboard lovers, did this news just make your day?

Motorola Spyder Codename Pops Up Again and in Photos, Could be the DROID RAZR

by: | posted 09.24.11 | News, Rumors

Last month we reported on a new Motorola device codenamed Spyder that at first, was popping up around the web as the DROID HD.  Now, thanks to a set of images and word from sources over at This is my next, this device has been confirmed and could end up as the DROID RAZR at launch.  Name ring a bell?  It was only a matter of time before that iconic mobile phone name was rehashed by the folks at Moto.

So what do we have inside?  It has a 4.3″ qHD screen except it’s not PenTile matrix and is instead Super AMOLED (possibly a world’s first).  There is a 1.2GHz dual-core processor (possibly a “turbo” OMAP4), 4G LTE (Verizon), 1GB of RAM, 8MP camera, “HD” front camera, and webtop capabilities.  The outer build is “Gorilla Glass and a Kevlar casing with a splash-guard coating.”

What we are noticing is that sexy new angled look that Moto has adopted, something we most recently saw on our exclusive pictures of the XOOM 2.  We also love the side lock switch and of course, how incredibly thin this phone is.

No word on a time frame for release, but are crossing our fingers for the holidays.

Two more pictures after the break.

DROID HD May be Headed to Verizon as the Motorola “Spyder”

by: | posted 08.19.11 | News, Rumors

The mysterious DROID HD took the tech world by storm on Monday when it appeared in a variety of photos over at Engadget.  Up until that point, we had only seen the name attached to some Flickr photos and on an Asian site with photos of a follow-up Atrix - we definitely had no other details of it.

After the pics went live though, we reached out to our sources to see what we could dig up, since there were some questions as to whether or not this was the rumored Motorola Dinara.  Well first off, we have been told that this phone is not the Dinara, but is instead the Motorola Spyder (codename of course).  It is more of a brother to the Photon 4G than anything, has a “different” screen and smaller MP camera than the Dinara, and should be headed to Verizon – something we could have all guessed if the “DROID” name attached to it holds up.

As for the Dinara, we know that many people are under the impression that it is headed to AT&T, but our sources assure us that the device is at this time being tested on Verizon LTE.  Could it end up on AT&T only as one of their first LTE devices?  Most definitely.  Especially with this Spyder device looking like Verizon’s next big Moto offering.  Our sources also mentioned that the Dinara is the higher-end device of the two, but were not told exactly why.

Keep it in Rumorville for now.  Add it to the list of codenames to keep an eye out for.

Cheers ___!
