If you are at all like me, and find yourself using Google’s Sound Search on a regular basis in order to purchase new music that is playing while you are on the go, and you also love DashClock, then check out this new extension called “Sound Search for DaskClock.” Rather than having to rely on the official Sound Search app or set up a separate page for it outside of DashClock on his lock screen (since lock screen widgets only allow 1 per page), the developer of this app decided to include Sound Search in DashClock itself.

Once downloaded from Google Play and added to your DashClock page, a simple tap on the “What’s this song?” line in DashClock will launch Google’s Voice Search which has grown to include Sound Search inside. If Sound Search isn’t your preferred music listener, he also included support for SoundHound and Shazam.

It’s free.

It’s Google apps update day! We already discussed the changes to be seen in Translate and Google Maps, so up next we have Sound Search and the Movies & TV application. Unfortunately, the Sound Search app has no changelog and after a quick use of it, I can’t seem to find any changes. It still acts the same and looks the same. So let’s move on.

As for the Google Play Movies & TV app, this one has a very solid update. If you are using the application on a tablet, you can now pause movies and get Google Now-like information cards pulled up on the actors, songs in the film, and a lot more. It’s a very cool way of getting even more information about your favorite films while you watch.

In addition, users can now choose to receive notifications when new episodes are available for purchased seasons of shows. For example, I will be notified every time a new Vikings episode is released because that show is completely fantastic and I am addicted.

Go grab them updates and definitely give that movie card feature a try.

With the release of the Jelly Bean operating system, it brought many new features for Android users to take advantage of. One of new features is called Sound Search. Sound Search can be directly compared to other applications like Shazam and SoundHound, the main difference being that Google’s Sound Search utilizes their own servers to recognize the music and then direct you to Google Play to purchase the song.

Google created a Sound Search widget that you can easily place on any homescreen for you to find out what that certain song is. Let’s go ahead and set it up.

First, you will need to place the widget on a homescreen. To do this, follow these directions.

Setting up the widget:

1. Open the app drawer. In the top left you will see two sections. One for “Apps” and one for “Widgets.”
2. Hit “Widgets.”
3. Scroll to the right until you find Google’s Sound Search widget.
4. Long press on the widget to place it on a homescreen.

You have now successfully enabled the Sound Search widget.

Using Sound Search:

Using Sound Search is just as easy as setting it up. Follow these directions to use Sound Search properly.

1. While the song is being played, tap on the Sound Search widget.
2. Place your device close to the speaker to make sure the device can hear the song/audio being played.
3. After a few seconds, if the song is recognized by Google, album art and the song’s title will be displayed.
4. Along with this information is a price for the song on Google Play, followed by a refresh button for you to identify a new song.
5. To purchase the song, click on the price tag and you will be directed to Google Play to buy the song or the entire album.
