If you are at all like me, and find yourself using Google’s Sound Search on a regular basis in order to purchase new music that is playing while you are on the go, and you also love DashClock, then check out this new extension called “Sound Search for DaskClock.” Rather than having to rely on the official Sound Search app or set up a separate page for it outside of DashClock on his lock screen (since lock screen widgets only allow 1 per page), the developer of this app decided to include Sound Search in DashClock itself.
This DashClock Extension Lets You Quickly Launch Sound Search, Shazam, or SoundHound
Google Movies & TV and Sound Search Updated in Google Play
It’s Google apps update day! We already discussed the changes to be seen in Translate and Google Maps, so up next we have Sound Search and the Movies & TV application. Unfortunately, the Sound Search app has no changelog and after a quick use of it, I can’t seem to find any changes. It still acts the same and looks the same. So let’s move on.
As for the Google Play Movies & TV app, this one has a very solid update. If you are using the application on a tablet, you can now pause movies and get Google Now-like information cards pulled up on the actors, songs in the film, and a lot more. It’s a very cool way of getting even more information about your favorite films while you watch.
Google Sound Search Widget Now Available Through Google Play
Goodbye SoundHound and Shazam, hello Sound Search! Google’s very own music recognition widget is now on Google Play, allowing users to instantly recognize music which will then link you to Google Play for purchase. Previously only available to devices running Jelly Bean, now everyone running at least Android 4.0+ can take advantage of this neat app. For some, Shazam still holds more functionality and features, but Sound Search is perfect for the minimalist like myself.
Go grab it!

How to: Use Jelly Bean’s Sound Search [Beginners' Guide]
With the release of the Jelly Bean operating system, it brought many new features for Android users to take advantage of. One of new features is called Sound Search. Sound Search can be directly compared to other applications like Shazam and SoundHound, the main difference being that Google’s Sound Search utilizes their own servers to recognize the music and then direct you to Google Play to purchase the song.
Google created a Sound Search widget that you can easily place on any homescreen for you to find out what that certain song is. Let’s go ahead and set it up.
Google’s Sound Search App from Jelly Bean Made Available for Non-Rooted ICS Devices
One of the many awesome features that Jelly Bean has brought to the Android table is Google’s new Sound Search or “Ears.” It is designed to replace well known applications such as Shazam and SoundHound by hearing music that is played, recognizing it, and then linking to Google Play to buy the track.
When first ported, it was only working on root-only devices, but now, it’s been made available for everyone running non-root Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 and above. Simply download and install as you would any other third-party application.
