The last time we updated you on the status of the Moto X Pure Edition’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, we told you that it was in the works and could arrive with a “few” weeks. Well, it has been a few weeks and it looks like Motorola is getting ready to begin pushing it out to you all. (more…)
A little over a week ago, select owners of the Moto X Pure Edition received their first invite to a soak test of a new software update. Motorola didn’t let on to what the update was at the time, but it wasn’t a stretch to think that it could be an early build of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, since it has just been announced. Yesterday, to give some clarification on the subject, Motorola’s David Schuster took to his G+ page. (more…)
Sadly, the email gives no hint as to what owners might expect to see, and it does not seem probable to hope for Android 6.0 Marshmallow this early. Although, you never know. This update could merely be for bugs that launched with the device. (more…)
Last week, Motorola told us that the Lollipop update for the AT&T Moto X (1st gen) was almost ready for your phone, they were just waiting on AT&T to give it the green light. AT&T must have signed off on it yesterday, because soak test invites for an “early preview of a new software release” went out to Motorola Feedback Network members. Remember that soak test for a “preview of a new software release” for the Verizon Moto X (2nd gen) that was supposed to begin last week? It started today. You know how we assumed it would be Android 5.1 Lollipop? It is. In fact, it’s Android 5.1, system version 23.16.3, and is roughly 500MB in size.
Assuming this soak test works out OK for testers, it shouldn’t be long before Verizon and Motorola start a slow rollout to the rest of the owners of this phone.
If you want to check out the full changelog for the update, you can find it here.
For those who are a part of the soak, enjoy those beautiful animations. (more…)
It’s coming! The wave of emails in our inbox all suggest that the DROID Turbo is about to get a new update. A number of our readers have been invited to “participate in an early preview of a new software release” through Motorola’s Feedback Network. Of course, the invite doesn’t mention Android 5.1 Lollipop, but this has to be it. It has to be, right? Please just be.
