Verizon Moto X Soak Test Invites Go Out, Should be Android 4.4.4 or 4.4.3

A new soak test of a software update for the Moto X on Verizon is about to begin, with invites going out to members of the Motorola Feedback Network moments ago. The invite didn’t specify if it would be an update to Android 4.4.3 or Android 4.4.4. The Verizon DROID line just saw Android 4.4.4 at the beginning of this week, so there is a chance that the Moto X will see it as well.

Then again, the Sprint and T-Mobile Moto Xs both saw updates to Android 4.4.3 recently(more…)

Soak Test of Some Kind Coming Soon to DROID MAXX, ULTRA Owners

As we were heading into the holiday weekend, Motorola sent out invites of some sort to a potential soak test for DROID MAXX, ULTRA, and Mini owners for what we can only assume is an update to Android 4.4.4. The invites didn’t provide much info, nor were they the typical soak test emails, but readers of ours who did receive one seem to be on the same page as us – what else could it be?  (more…)

Soak Test Coming for Verizon’s Moto X, Should be Android 4.4.2

Invites to a soak test for Verizon’s version of the Moto X went out moments ago, asking that participants check out an “early preview of a new software release.” With Verizon’s variant one of the last remaining without Android 4.4.2, I think it’s safe to assume what is in store. The update is considered pretty minor, but does bring the phone up to the most current version of Android.

We have already seen the update arrive on the T-Mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular models. Before you get too negative about the timing of this one, keep in mind that Verizon’s was first to get 4.4, which was the bigger update of the two.  (more…)

T-Mobile Moto X Soak Test of 4.4.2 Rolls Out as Build 161.44.25

The soak test of Android 4.4.2 for the T-Mobile Moto X is live and hitting participating devices today. The update likely includes the same goodies from the US Cellular update that also started earlier, which means an improved camera and other “general enhancements.” As you probably figured, this is not a major update like you saw from the jump to 4.4 from 4.2.2.

Assuming all goes well with this soak test, the update should push quickly to those outside of the Motorola Feedback Network. Still no word on when the Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T variants will see the update.

Cheers b!
