Microsoft Updates Xbox SmartGlass App, Brings Support for Tablets 7″ and Up

This morning, Xbox fans can update the official SmartGlass app for Android through Google Play. Inside the update, there is now official support for Android tablets 7″ and up, an “always-on” mode where your device will stop going to sleep while you are connected, and some other minor fixes and enhancements.

Moments ago, Microsoft pushed an update out to the Xbox SmartGlass app that allows for use on 7″ tablets now, namely the Nexus 7. As far as other features, there are none to mention. There were some bugs fixed, which is never a bad thing. If you’re an avid Xbox user and aren’t checking out SmartGlass, you’re doing it wrong.

With the launch of Microsoft’s Surface this week, the part that gamers were all waiting for was the SmartGlass integration that allowed tablets to interact with your Xbox 360. If you remember during their E3 press conference this year, Microsoft said they would be bringing this integration to Android devices, and today they’ve started with the release of their application for Android phones.
