NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet owners, the day has come. Android 5.1 is now ready for download onto your tablet, bringing a gang of fixes and improvements for the device.
To kick it off, Android 5.1 itself brings many bug fixes for Lollipop, including performance improvements and responsiveness upgrades, as well as support for Android for Work. On top of just Android fixings, NVIDIA worked in improved display performance (Global Tone Mapping), and a firmware update for the SHIELD Controller. (more…)

NVIDIA pushed a major update out to SHIELD Tablet owners recently, but the company is circling back again with a hot fix update listed as version 2.2.1. In the update, NVIDIA includes a display color-space correction, as well as improvements for the Netflix experience. (more…)

The future of gaming will arrive at a March 3 event, courtesy of NVIDIA. At least that’s what a press invite they sent to us is claiming.
It’s anyone’s guess as to what they will show, but they did note in the invite that this product has been “more than 5 years in the making.” Are we talking a new mobile processor like the Tegra X1 that was demoed during their CES event? Could this be a new SHIELD product? Maybe something related to GRID, their cloud gaming service? Maybe something far outside of those three areas? You tell us.

Owners of the SHIELD Tablet from NVIDIA are receiving early Christmas presents this year, in the form of a firmware update to Android 5.0.1. Android 5.0.1 is primarily bug fixes for Android 5.0, but NVIDIA also threw in a few tweaks for users.
Included in the update are system performance improvements, with tweaks made to the general UI as well as app responsiveness. In addition, NVIDIA brought back its SHIELD Power Control Menu, which allows users to tweak CPU settings for performance. (more…)
