Probably thanks to the holidays, NVIDIA is listing a ton of great games at 50% off this week on Google Play, including DOOM 3 BFG Edition ($5) and the Half Life 2 episodes. An update to version 3.1.1 for SHIELD Tablet is now available to owners, including a patch for the Stagefright exploit. Also included are system-wide optimizations and fixes, in addition to “stability and performance improvements.” Overall, after the update, your SHIELD Tablet should feel mighty strong. (more…)
In late July, NVIDIA issued a recall for SHIELD Tablets purchased between July, 2014 and July, 2015. According to an email hitting the inbox of at least one purchaser that we know of, NVIDIA and the 3rd-party company who handles the replacement of affected tablets is struggling to meet the needs for a portion of the nearly 90,000 owners affected. A recall has been issued by NVIDIA for the SHIELD Tablet, possibly affecting anyone who purchased the device from July of 2014 to July of 2015. The issue surrounds the battery used in the device, as it has been found that in some cases, it can overheat and become a fire hazard. To correct this issue, NVIDIA is offering free SHIELD Tablets to anyone who owns an affected unit. (more…)
NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet owners, the day has come. Android 5.1 is now ready for download onto your tablet, bringing a gang of fixes and improvements for the device.
To kick it off, Android 5.1 itself brings many bug fixes for Lollipop, including performance improvements and responsiveness upgrades, as well as support for Android for Work. On top of just Android fixings, NVIDIA worked in improved display performance (Global Tone Mapping), and a firmware update for the SHIELD Controller. (more…)
