DeadZone, the multiplayer version Madfinger Games’ Shadowgun, received an update to version 2.0 today, a day earlier than expected. The company has been teasing the update for weeks and even posted up an official release photo which included a date of April 4. We aren’t sure what happened, but the update is live right now. While we have yet to see an official or thorough changelog, the numerous teasers mentioned that the update will feature new maps and all sorts of new weapons, like the Smasher and Annihilator. Go get it!

During a press event yesterday at GDC in San Francisco, GameStick developers announced the system’s first content partners and pre-installed launch titles. To kick it off, GameStick will be shipped to backers with Madfinger’s ShadowGun and Hutch’s Smash Cops. On top of that, GameStick owners will have access to a separate game store to make sure the games they download will be perfect for the portable unit. 

You can still pre-order these little guys for just $80, which also includes that neat looking controller.

GDC – San Francisco; March 28th, 2013; During an exclusive event at GDC yesterday for press, developers and investors GameStop, Adobe & Endeavour Ventures, Playjam unveiled the GameStick Storefront running on dev units due to ship out shortly to it´s Kickstarter backers and content partners.

To support this demonstration, which will be replicated for GDC attendees on the ARM booth at the exhibition today and tomorrow, Playjam showcased a number of launch titles and announced exciting deals with Madfinger and Hutch that will see both Shadowgun and Smash Cops pre-installed on the device ensuring GameStick users have free, quality content ready to go out of the box.

“GameStick offers a direct route to TV for our games”, says Marek Rabas, CEO at Madfinger. “The format lends itself perfectly to carrying many of our hit mobile titles, marrying portability with truly big screen entertainment. Games will be available for purchase and download from within the GameStick UI via a dedicated store. The GameStick Developer program has over 500 participants from a broad cross-section of the developer community that will see games such as Riptide, R-Type, Another World, Raiden Legacy, Ski Safari, Meganoid, Ground Effect, CatchaCatcha Aliens, Gunslugs, AfterMath, Shaqdown, Towelfight 2, and Reckless Getaway feature at launch.

Additionally, at the opening of GDC this week, PlayJam announced a partnership with Pivos to bring official support for XBMC to GameStick thereby adding media servicesto the content mix.

There are a few good apps/games on sale today, such as runtastic PRO, ShadowGun THD, and Reddit News. If you are into running, than the runtastic app seems like a good choice, but if you are more of a couch potato, then NBA JAM is where it’s at.

Today is November 15, the day when Shadowgun: DeadZone exits its beta phase and becomes an official multiplayer juggernaut on Android. Nothing has changed too much since the last update, although there is one major feature, which is a multiplayer voice chat. Now, instead of just yelling to yourself that the guy you killed is a no0b, you can say it right to him. I haven’t tried it yet, but you can bet that I will be later tonight.

The beta is coming to a close, folks. This morning, Madfinger Games released the official launch trailer for Shadowgun: DeadZone, which gives us a November 15 release date. For those that have been playing the beta with me, don’t worry, your stats should be carrying over and you won’t lose any of your rankings. When it does go live, it’s expected to be free-to-play which is a huge plus for fans of the series.

Today, along with all of this other Android madness, Madfinger Games has pushed out an update to Shadowgun:DeadZone that allows non-Tegra 3 device owners to get their hands on the beta. This is a great sign that development and the beta is going well and we can see an official launch in the coming weeks or so.

Shadowgun: DeadZone Beta Updated to Support Devices Other Than Tegra 3 is a post from: Droid Life

Today, the makers of Shadowngun: DeadZone, a game that I can’t get enough of lately, pushed out the first major update to the beta. Major enhancements to performance, gametype edits such as taking away turrets in Deathmatch, and the adding of fall damage are just a few things off the huge list of changes.

List of changes:

• Fixed several bugs
• Performance optimalization
• Fixed lagging
• Added throwing grenades during the movement
• Added fall damage
• Mines and Sentry Guns are disabled in Deathmatch mode now
• Improved ragdolls
• Fixed radar in Zone Control mode
• Balanced weapons
• Improved team balancing
• Added special effects for spawning

Over-powered weapons and equipment are some of the things that could kill a game like this, but Madfinger seems to be staying right on top of it all and making sure their users remain happy. If you haven’t played me yet, come find me in a lobby and get whooped.

Madfinger Releases Update to Shadowgun: DeadZone Beta, Tons of Fixes Inside is a post from: Droid Life

Madfinger Games has pushed the public beta of Shadowgun:DeadZone into Google Play today, looking for users to help them make the game better. For now, only Tegra 3 devices will be able to take part in the beta, but who knows how long that will last.

As the developers look to improve network and server connections, you can experience some lag in between games, but nothing that should be out of the ordinary for a beta. Anyone looking for some actin-packed multiplayer action should go download this immediately and try and find me in a lobby. Good luck trying to win though.

Madfinger Games has been teasing Shadowgun: Deadzone for too long! We just received word that they have opened a private beta to European players and the U.S. will also be receiving the same beta treatment here in the next two weeks.

Madfinger will want to start testing network connections, fixing bugs, and other misc. things that could spell trouble for a massive online multiplayer game such as Deadzone. The open beta for the U.S. will be in Google Play, so everyone that wants to take part can have super easy access.

I am definitely pumped for this release and we’ll let you know as soon as the beta goes live for us here in the States.

We won’t get into how long we’ve been waiting for the multiplayer “Deadzone” version of SHADOWGUN, but do know that we played it all the way back at CES in January and we were told that we could expect a launch in Q1 of this year. As you may have realized, Q1 was really long ago and we’re now sitting in Q4, still awaiting release information. 

Today, Madfinger took to their Facebook page and uploaded the above image which has us all pretty hyped. From just this image, we can see there has been a lot of character and weapon additions to the one we previewed at CES. If you click on and enlarge the image, you can definitely get a good look at these characters and tell that Madfinger means some serious business when it comes to Deadzone.

So, it’s back to waiting I suppose. We’ll keep you posted if anymore information comes our way.

Last month, our friends over at NVIDIA held their first annual Player’s Choice Awards to determine which Tegra-optimized Android title was the best of the best of the best, sir. Major titles such as Shadowgun, GTAIII, Dark Meadow, and many others were up for three top titles – Best Graphics, Best Gameplay, and Best Overall. We had many of our own readers vote, so let’s get down to it.

Well, Rockstar’s GTAIII basically swept it. Shadowgun had little to no competition for best graphics, but I wouldn’t have been shocked if Dark Meadow had somehow taken the Best Overall title. It’s a fun game and is actually a lot easier to control on a mobile device, unless you happen to own a Bluetooth gaming controller. If you haven’t checked any of these titles out yet, this is a good sign that you might want to get on that.

The deals have started in the Google Play Store. Google said they would be hosting a ton of awesome deals, but we didn’t know it would be starting this quick. From what Google said, we can expect these deals to last for seven days, but we don’t know if they’ll be swapping out apps each day. Fans of the over-the-shoulder shooter ShadowGun are in for a treat. According to the Madfinger Games forums admin RAZO, ShadowGun is about to receive an update this week in the Market which shall include 4 new levels, new enemies, new guns, and a whole lot more. Previously, this version of ShadowGun was exclusively for iOS, but now Android is finally receiving the love. 

Update will include:

- The story directly follows the events of original Shadowgun
- Free for all original Shadowgun owners
- 4 new levels
- New enemy creature
- New gun
- New type of gaming interaction
- New soundtrack
- Lot of new graphics, animations and cut-scenes
- New and improved content in general (also affects the original Shadowgun)
- New effects such as camera shakes or bullet trails
- New element in the control – Roll (player can now perform rolls)
- Tuned difficulty, weapons and enemies
- Better, more intensive gaming experience

ShadowGun is one of our favorite mobile shooters, so this update is definitely welcomed. It will be free for present owners of the game, but you can pick up ShadowGun in the Android Market for just $4.99.
