Motorola Shadow Benchmarked? Almost as Fast as 2.2 Nexus One?

by: | posted 05.27.10 | Apps, News

The Motorola Shadow just seems to be popping up everywhere these days!  First it was the phone guide, then in a gym, again on the Howard Forums, and today in an app called Quadrant which is used for benchmarking devices.

If you take a look at the photo I just capped after benchmarking my Incredible, you’ll see the Shadow(MB810) clocking in just below a Nexus One running Android 2.2.  Crazy right?  We’ve been hearing all along that the Shadow would launch with 2.1 and Motoblur, but do these numbers make it look more like 2.2?  Maybe it’s just going to be more of a beast than we had imagined?

Another Motorola Droid Shadow Photo Appears

by: | posted 05.26.10 | News

The Motorola Shadow made another appearance last night and continues to match up to our “Father’s Day post” back on April 23rd…

  • 8MP Cam
  • 700 Mhz OMAP 3630 processor
  • HDMI output
  • Very slick design & thin. The back is thin from bottom then when it gets towards top of phone, it bulges up to a thicker part (hard to describe)

There are reports that it is back in the shop in order to upgrade to some sort of 1.0Ghz processor, but I find that hard to believe with a rumored release date to be just a couple of weeks out.

Motorola Shadow Found in the Wild

by: | posted 05.25.10 | News

There is your first real look at the Motorola Shadow which is slated to land on Verizon some time in the end of June or early July.  Apparently it was left in a Verizon corporate gym and someone snapped a quick picture of before the phone was locked remotely.  Awesome.

The gym employee who found the device even managed to get a little info out of the guy who shamefully returned after hitting the preacher bench…

  • 16GB internal storage
  • Snapdragon processor
  • HDMI port
  • 8MP camera
  • 4.3″ screen
  • Likely running Froyo

Looks exactly like the leaked photo we posted on Saturday.

Oh, and this is another great opportunity to remind everyone that the Droid 2 and Shadow are DIFFERENT DEVICES.  When you get the chance, make sure to spread that word to some of those…well…bigger sites.

Photo: Motorola Shadow on Verizon Leaked

by: | posted 05.22.10 | News

Yep, that’s the Motorola Shadow.  Or is it the Droid Shadow?  This picture was leaked earlier today and appears to be the exact same device that our sources said would be hitting VZW shelves in June.  That’s right.

Remember our “Mysterious Father’s Day Device” post?  Here are a few of the details…

  • 4.3″ Screen (not AMOLED)  (check!)
  • Moto Blur 2.1  (check!)
  • Had physical keys (just like HD2)  (and check!)

I’d say our sources were once again spot on.

And if you are worried about the MotoBlur, then do not buy this device.  Stick it out and wait for the Droid 2 which will be standard Google Experience just like version 1 was.

Verizon Offering June Early Upgrade for Motorola Shadow?

by: | posted 05.17.10 | News

Our sources had already hinted at a possible Father’s Day release of the Motorola Shadow (Xtreme?), so this new rumored Verizon early upgrade promo doesn’t just seem like a coincidence.  Running from May 20th through June 30th, you’ve got to think Verizon is hoping to push something new especially after seeing thousands of customers use their early upgrades on the Droid Incredible.  Maybe?

Or…

This could really just have a lot to do with the new iPhone which is supposed to drop sometime in June on AT&T.  What better way to help combat that release than by allowing existing customers the chance to get shiny new phones while also locking them into 2-year contract extensions.  Cha ching.

Update: Just wanted to quickly clear up some of the lingo from up above via one of our Verizon gurus…

That article is for stores only, and shows it is for only high risk customers, which means this is a save option only, not for everyone. High value customers doesn’t really mean much, there is nothing that specifically states whether someone is high value or not.

I’ll just say this then…come May 20th, you might as well ask about this promo!  Who knows, you may be a “high risk” or a “high value” customer, right?

Motorola Droid 2 and Shadow Model Numbers Spotted

by: | posted 05.12.10 | News

Back in April we hinted at 2 mysterious Motorola devices that were set to launch this summer with one being the Motorola Shadow and the other being the newest version of the Motorola Droid aka the Droid 2.  While we were pretty adamant that these were in fact 2 different devices, the rest of the world seemed poised to group them in together as one.

To help disprove that thought, here are 2 tweets from @Androidevicespy who seems to have captured both the Shadow and Droid 2.  Both CDMA and both headed to Verizon.

Motorola Droid 2 (A955)

Motorola Shadow (MB810)

Steps closer to the next Droid family member!

Update: It looks like the Droid 2 passed its wifi certification…

Mystery Motorola Device Coming on Father’s Day?

by: | posted 04.23.10 | News

Sorry for the late start this morning, I’m still depressed after last night’s Blazers game. So to get the blood flowing again, I just wanted to drop some rumored Motorola devices on you that I’ve caught wind of over the last week.  And no I’m not talking about those ugly flippy covered ones that have been pictured across the blogworld.

The following info was sent to me from a new source, but one that appears to at least know what he’s talking about and also personally knows one of Motorola’s final stage engineers.  The second phone on this list, he had a chance to handle and was impressed to say the least.

While it’s tough to confirm anything without pictures, I thought I’d just drop the info on you guys and let you do with it as you please.  Who doesn’t love a good rumor or two?

Interesting stuff to say the least…

1. “Droid 2″

  • This is already in works.
  • 1gHz processor.
  • Same basic desgin as Droid 1 but BETTER keyboard.

2. Unknown name as of now (Possibly the “Shadow”)

  • 4.3″ Screen (not AMOLED)
  • 8MP Cam
  • Odd but so far not planned for 1gHz processor. This one had a 700 (or mhz)
  • Moto Blur 2.1
  • HDMI output
  • Records @ 720p
  • Physical buttons in front
  • Had physical keys (just like HD2)
  • The “camera button” (physical) is metallic red like HTC has been doing. Yes, its Verizon as it has the Verizon branding on it.
  • Its final build stages. Software still not final revision.
  • Very slick design & thin. The back is thin from bottom then when it gets towards top of phone, it bulges up to a thicker part (hard to describe)
  • To me, its the answer to HTC Evo.
  • This phone is slated for Fathers day release time frame (tentative).
  • 16GB onboard memory & 16GB expandable memory card (atleast his came with that capacity card).

Intriguing?  Anyone interested in Motoblur on 2.1?  How about a Father’s Day release?  We’ve heard the name “Shadow” before but was some odd looking Droid knockoff.  If I get any deeper details or pics, I’ll be sure to share them.  Until then, it at least gives us something to banter about.
