Thoughts on the Galaxy Note 5 from an iPhone User [Opinion]

Late last year I was sitting in my car playing with my tiny iPhone 5c. I had just finished reviewing the Sony Z3v and it dawned on me. I missed Android. I started messaging with everyone at Droid Life and within a few minutes I decided I was going to switch to Android. I have an upgrade coming up in October so I figured I would upgrade to the Note 5 since it would be the latest phone out then. Then I got to spend some time with the Galaxy S6. It was a great phone with some shortcomings, but surely the Note 5 would be the phone for me.

More time passed and I continued to evaluate. Would the Note 5 meet my needs? Can I live with a more advanced OS that doesn’t get apps or updates first? Can I give up iMessage for SMS? Video: S Pen Features on the Galaxy Note 5

The S Pen featured on the Galaxy Note 5, when not stuck upside down in your device, features a few minor tweaks over last year’s S Pen on the Galaxy Note 4. First, it has an awesome clicker mechanism built-in, giving it a more pen-like feel while in-hand. Even though it truly serves zero functionality besides sounding and feeling good, and helping you remove it from the phone, it does offer a “cool” attribute. (more…)

Please Don’t Put the Galaxy Note 5 S Pen in Backwards. (Updated)

Hey, guy over there with the Galaxy Note 5, please don’t put your S Pen in backwards. If you do, you will probably break something in the phone, like the sensor that recognizes whether or not the S Pen is in or out of the phone. You may not even be able to remove it at all, actually. As with many things in life, it’s almost always a bad idea to put things in backwards. So, don’t do it with your S Pen.  (more…)
