The HTC Rezound has dropped all the way down to the staggeringly low price of $49 at Verizon. We aren’t sure if it is a sign that the Incredible 4G is actually arriving in a couple of weeks or if they simply need to remove inventory, but either way, this is a steal of a deal. Originally priced at $299, the Rezound still has one of the most beautiful screens on an Android device to date along with an semi-unlockable bootloader. Fans initially steered clear of it while we awaited the arrival of the Galaxy Nexus, however, it has picked up developer community steam in recent weeks. You can read our full review of the Rezound here.
According to Best Buy systems that were updated this afternoon, Verizon is preparing to launch Ice Cream Sandwich updates for 3 of their top phones, the DROID RAZR, RAZR MAXX, and HTC Rezound. Both Moto and Verizon had caught flack for not giving specific enough time frames for updates to the RAZRs, but we speculated at that time that it was likely because they were going to try to release them as soon as possible. If this screenshot from BBY is correct, that assumption was also on point. The Rezound was in a similar boat – we knew it was getting it, but had no idea when. We may know now. (more…)
We recently had a reader email asking which custom ROMs were good for the HTC Rezound. Since all of us here at the DL offices are proud owners of the Galaxy Nexus, we want to help those with Rezounds out who are looking for a good custom ROM. So help us out, Rezound owners. Which custom ROM do you swear by? Something with no Sense UI? Something with as many customizable features as possible? List them out below and let folks weigh their options.
As owners of the HTC Rezound await an update to Ice Cream Sandwich, some sneaky person has leaked the official update build onto the web for everyone’s pleasure. The operation to update your device is extremely simple, but may take some time depending on your Internet connection due to the fact that the file is a humongous 640MB. If you feel like tasting some sweet ICS on your Rezound before it is released to the masses, then follow the instructions down below to ensure a proper installation. (more…)
Not that this list is new, since HTC reported it via Facebook a while back, but we like reminders on important things like Ice Cream Sandwich updates. Included with this list of phones is another type of reminder though, one that should make DROID X2 and DROID 3 owners a tad frustrated. That’s right, HTC is basically upgrading their entire 2011 lineup to Android 4.0, including their 3G offerings. You will see the Incredible 2 and Rhyme on this list, as well as on Verizon’s list, but no where will you find a Moto 3G phone. Shrug some shoulders, roll some eyes and shake your heads. (more…)
Not to be outdone by Sprint’s Amazon sale today, all of the Motorola DROID phones are on sale, some even going down to the low low price of $.01. For new activations, you can get the DROID RAZR MAXX for $149.99 and the original RAZR for $49.99, both packing 32GB of internal storage. If a keyboard is more your thing, the DROID 4 is also $49.99 but if you don’t want the 4G the DROID 3 is only one cent. (more…)
Verizon has been silent for the most part when it comes to Ice Cream Sandwich updates for their lineup of Android devices. Many of the OEMs that they deal with have informed us in one way or another, but we were waiting for Big Red to make some things official since they sign off on final software. Their list is now public and is as follows.
For HTC devices, we will see Android 4.0 on the Thunderbolt, Incredible 2, Rhyme and Rezound. Sorry original Incredible owners. For Motorola devices we will see it on the XOOM, Bionic, RAZR, RAZR MAXX, DROID 4 and XYBOARD tablets. Sorry DROID X, DROID X2, and DROID 3 owners. For Samsung devices it looks like only the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 7.7 will see it. No DROID Charge. From LG, only the Spectrum will receive ICS.
Sooo, quite a few devices missing including a couple that should have more than enough power under the hood to run Android 4.0.
Update: Yes, I see that it says “4G LTE devices currently scheduled” in the press release which has led many to believe that this is simply a 4G LTE only list and that some 3G devices were specifically left out. I’m having a hard time following that logic since the Incredible 2 and Rhyme were also listed and are 3G-only phones. Also, the DROID Charge which is 4G LTE, is left off. This is an assumption of course, but I would tend to lean towards this list being pretty complete.
No dates were given. (more…)
If a new smartphone is in your near future, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a screaming good deal on one. Not only does Amazon drop prices the minute new phones are released, but even Verizon is doing their best to get in on the low-pricing scheme. Two examples are included in their latest “online” only 4G LTE sale. The LG Spectrum and HTC Rezound can be had for as little as $99.99 as long as you extend or add on a new 2-year contract. One phone has been out for a couple of months now, while the other is barely a month old. Both run 1.5GHz dual-core processors and have two of the most beautiful HD displays we have ever seen on a smartphone. If the RAZRs or Galaxy Nexus were never your cup of tea, these two might be worth a look.
