Download: Leaked R2-D2 Live Wallpapers

The boot animation for the special edition R2-D2 Droid 2 leaked last night and now the live wallpapers are out.  There are 4 of them in total and are almost all well worth at least a quick look.  There might not be any surprises left on this device by the time we see it at the end of September.  Oh well?

Video Action:

Wallpaper Pack:

Individual Files: [Millenium Falcon]  [Lightspeed]  [R2D2]  [Spaceslug]

Install as you would any other .apk file.  Download it, tap on it, hit “Install.”  Should work on any 2.1 and above Android phone.

Cheers Luda!

Download: Official R2-D2 Droid 2 Boot Animation

A new R2-D2 boot animation appeared on the internet late last night and there are rumors that it’s the official one you’ll see with the special edition Droid 2 that we’ve been covering over the last few weeks.  In even better news, the boot animation is available for all to use, geek out to, and to aide your path of remaining single for the foreseeable future.

Video Action:

*For both rooted and non-rooted users.  Separate instructions though.

*Should work on almost any phone, Droid 1 and Droid X for sure.

Instructions (rooted users):

1.  Download the file from above to your SD card.
2.  Open Root Explorer and copy the file to /data/local.
3.  Reboot your phone and enjoy your new boot animation.

Instructions (non-rooted users):

*You will need the Android SDK installed to do this.  Instructions here.

1.  Download the file from above to your PC.
2.  Move the file into your android-skd/tools folder.
3.  Make sure nothing is selected and hold SHIFT+right click inside your tools folder.
4.  Choose “open command window here.”
5.  Type in the following commands:

adb push /data/local
adb reboot

6.  Your phone will reboot with your new boot animation.

And if you are feeling super saucy this morning, here is an audio file which reportedly works during boot, yet I can’t for the life of me get to work.  Actually, almost no one can get it to work.  Let us know if you do!

Cheers Aaryn and Mike!

R2-D2 Live Wallpapers Unlocked, Get Your Millennium Falcon On!

Without a new clue releasing and the @DroidLanding account taking the entire weekend off from dropping clues, someone still managed to figure out a secret code this morning, unlocking the live and static wallpapers for the special edition R2-D2 Droid 2.  Whoever figures out these codes is some kind of Star Wars machine that’s for sure.  Like our guy, Andrew Tarr who won the first phone!

R2-D2 Gallery Unlocked, Includes Custom Media Dock

One of our readers unlocked the “Widgets+Apps” section for the special edition R2-D2 Droid 2 and some time last evening another section was unlocked, although this time we have no idea how the person figured it out.  Congrats anyway though!  The cool thing is, the new section is a full on gallery of the device, which I know we’ve seen but this time they give us a shot from behind with the keyboard slid open plus a look at the special edition media dock.

Win and win.

One of our readers may have already won the first special edition Droid 2; time to join in!

Another @DroidLanding R2-D2 Tweet! Something Hidden in the “Blogosphere”?

We’re still following along on the R2-D2 Droid 2 hunt.  The newest tweet is as follows…

@DroidLanding – #AttackPatternDelta

Plugging the message into the Tweet Translator gets you this message..

I beg your pardon, what is “java script?” You silly utensil you must mean jawa script.  Jawas don’t have a written language. Simply awful creatures, jawas. Can’t abide them.  What? oh very well…Artoo suggests looking for another clue in the ‘Blogosphere.” Personally, I’ve never heard of that star system.

Blogosphere?!?  Time to find a specific blog.  Wonder if it’s ours?
