Asus has already made it clear that an announcement for their new Transformer Prime is coming on November 9, but could that also be the launch date? According to their Q3 investor document, that is exactly what will happen. And not only do they plan to launch this device then, but Asus wants to take firm hold of the Android tablet market and likely start to crack into Apple’s by releasing two additional slates in Q1 of next year. Could that be the silly Padfone and a new Slider?

Quite a bit of “perfection” talk going on in that document. Asus must be feelin’ really good about their new line of tablets which likely has a lot to do with the inclusion of NVIDIA’s quad-core Kal-El processors.

Last night’s Nexus-fest that started after Samsung posted a teaser to their CTIA event has already created enough talking points to take us through to next Tuesday. The video did not give us much, but as with any teaser, folks spotted what they believe to be hidden messages like the one we are about to talk about.

The topic of the video was the idea that some things are just better when they are put together: candles and wine, cookies and milk, newspaper and coffee, etc. So when G+ member Joe Lancaster paused it when the new Nexus showed up, he noticed an extra shadow or outline behind it that he believes may be a tablet of some sort. His idea – that the Nexus that will be unveiled will also have the ability to be docked inside a tablet.

Seem crazy? Yeah, pretty much, but let’s talk about it. See those 3 pinholes on the left side? Those look like docking connectors of some sort. It certainly seems odd that a phone would dock on the same side as its lock switch, but the MHL port is likely on the bottom so they needed to move them somewhere. The logistics of it all seem impossible, but with a “better together” theme, we should keep our minds open to all possibilities.

With that said, Samsung could simply be referring to Ice Cream Sandwich which is the merging of a phone operating system with one from a tablet. And the shadow that looks like a tablet behind the Nexus is just a visual opportunity for that idea to be displayed. That’s a pairing that Google has been talking about for quite some time. It could also mean that Samsung and Google are just better together among other things.

Interesting idea – and this is why we love teasers.

And the video one more time because it’s that awesome.

Hello there beautiful phone. In a video released tonight by Samsung, the Galaxy Nexus aka Nexus Prime aka mystery Ice Cream Sandwich device was teased as the next “BIG” thing to hit the tech world. Not that any of us were assuming we would see anything besides the next Nexus at their “Google Episode” CTIA event, but we weren’t expecting to see a tease this massive at this moment.

The timing sure couldn’t have been better though. With the iPhone 4S getting crushed by media across the globe, it looks like Google and Samsung played this one perfectly.

Are you looking at the first live picture of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) on the Samsung Nexus Prime? It certainly appears that way. The photo above leaked to GSMArena this morning, showing off a 720p HD display at 320dpi, a screen that looks slightly curved, and on-screen back and home keys. The absence of physical keys has long been rumored back to the day we first heard that ICS would bring the best parts of Honeycomb to phones – this is the first time we have actually seen it.

Nice timing. The day that the new iDevice will be announced.

The GSM version of what we believe to be the Samsung Nexus Prime, stopped by Bluetooth SIG over the last couple of days as any phone that is on the verge of a release does. Most of us are under the impression that this is the model that will become available some time after Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus on other carriers like T-Mobile and Sprint. It’ll have Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0), should have an HD Super AMOLED screen, and will be just as or even more game-changing as any Android phone ever has been.

Rumored release dates currently peg this for November-ish.

We already know that Samsung is holding another of its Unpacked events at CTIA in just a couple of weeks, but details have yet to be released. Whatever it is though, is sure to pack some sort of gaming or big-screened-multimedia punch. The nominees for CTIA’s “Hot for the Holidays Awards” have been announced with a mysterious and unannounced Samsung product listed under the “Gamer & Entertainment Enthusiast” category.

If you look at the other items listed, you will see two of their tablets, so this could be the 7.7″ Tab that has yet to land in the states or as a few other sites have suggested, is the Galaxy Nexus. Rumored to have a 4.65″ HD screen (Super AMOLED HD?), you would almost think that the next Nexus would have found its way into the “Gadget Guru” category – or would that have made it too obvious? A big HD screen on a phone does scream, “Play games on me!” though.

Then again, wouldn’t Google want to unveil the next Nexus and not Samsung? While I would love for this to be the Ice Cream Sandwiched Verizon beast, I’m not willing to put a ton of money on that, just yet. The good news is that we will be there to find out.

Update: Galaxy Tab 7.7 just cruised through the FCC. Would not be surprised if this is the device they announce.

What do you guys think? Any guesses?

Our favorite LTE Panda and his newly appointed poem friend Tom have been all over Twitter the last 12 hours, hypebeasting (yep, we’re not the only ones that do it) with a new set of rhymes for the Galaxy Nexus aka Nexus Prime aka DROID Prime. According to their sweet melodic words, the device that many of you have held out long enough for, will arrive on the day that Batman’s creator died. Since Bob Kane died on November 3 and that’s a Thursday, you can mark that down as the newest tentative date.

Also embedded in their dual-poem are mentions of LTE, Ice Cream Sandwich, and the idea that purchasers of the iPhone 5 will be jealous.

While we love the Panda though, take it as tentative/rumor. He clearly has the inside track on a lot of Verizon happenings, but those of us that have been doing this for a minute or two know how quickly these dates can change. November 3 sounds great for now – let’s just hope we don’t run into last minute delays like we have grown accustomed to from Big Red over the last year (Thunderbolt, Charge and Bionic ring a bell?). Let’s also not forget about Honeycomb and its push backs. This does match up nicely with yesterday’s 4chan mega-rumor that we first reported.

So that gives us the HTC Vigor on October 20 and the Nexus two weeks later. Talk about a prime two week stretch. Sorry, had to.

Saturday hypebeast.

Another minute, another Samsung Prime rumor to snack on. Our buddy Kyle (aka the Droid Guy) is in Las Vegas attending Verizon’s developer conference this week. While there, he bumped into a Samsung employee of some sort who happened to have an unidentified device on hand that has not been seen – publicly anyway. After talking the Sammie staffer into taking their conversation about this phone into a private area, Kyle was told that he had to remove his bag, hat and phone before they could proceed. He obliged.

So what did he see? A device that we have all come to know as the Samsung Prime. According to this report, the device looked similar to the Nexus S, but was longer and slightly thicker which could (should) mean for an LTE chip. It was not running Ice Cream Sandwich as that has not been completed yet. It had an 8MP camera on the back with a 2MP shooter on the front, similarly to the Galaxy SII series. It had NFC and MHL support along with a TI OMAP processor (which has been confirmed).

The current plan is for Samsung and Google to release this phone first on Verizon in late October or early November, followed by the rollout to other carriers shortly thereafter.

The thing we are finding odd though, is that the device apparently had a single home button similar to what we have seen on the Galaxy Note or non-US Galaxy SII devices. Would Google really take a chance on a device with a single home button that mimics the iPhone? Look at all of the trouble that Samsung has already been in for this design – please tell me this will change when this thing becomes official.

Thoughts?

We normally try to avoid blacked out emails from readers that have to do with the release of upcoming devices, but when it comes to the Samsung Prime, it’s hard to ignore. Every little bit of info we can grab about this phone is music to our ears. Rumored to be the first device to launch with Ice Cream Sandwich, this may be the device that we have all been waiting so patiently for. The return of a legitimate stock Android device on Verizon – mmmhmmm.

The email above, which is apparently from a deep-rooted Verizon HQ employee, claims that it may not see DROID branding (something we assumed as well) (it supposed to replace the Charge though, so that’s up in the air), but may get announced right around the time that the iPhone 5 is – more than likely in October.

I will say that I’ve spoken with some of our friends who are well aware of this device. While we have yet to hear of it finding its way into the hands of a bunch of testers, we are positive that there are live units around and in the hands of select individuals at this time.

Yep, hypebeast.

Last night a questionable document surfaced out of Best Buy that was said to be an end of 2011 timeline for Verizon’s upcoming devices. The document looked super sketchy since it had a variety of misspelled words, leading many of you to question it (as did we). Well, we just received another document from a Best Buy employee that includes similar information, but in a much clearer and correctly spelled manner. So it’s pretty obvious to us that regional Verizon reps were given a specific set of details that they were to forward on to retail stores, this one just differs slightly.

No Thunderbolt 2 (aka HTC Vigor). Doesn’t mean that the device isn’t coming by any means, but it for whatever reason did not make this rep’s list of important changes. We still have the Stratosphere as replacing the Fascinate. The Samsung Prime (actually spelled out this time) is taking over for the DROID Charge. And that’s about it.

Just wanted to pass on as a second source to back up that previous story.

Cheers ___!

OK before we start, we should make sure that everyone knows that we know that there are spelling errors like a mutha up in this leak. It could be legit, but truthfully, we have no idea. According to the source – who happens to be a Best Buy employee – this document was handed out by Verizon reps (we’re thinking regional) and describes the expected lineup for them in the near future. It includes a whole bunch of devices that have long been rumored, so there are a couple of things we should think about with this: could be someone compiling all of the stuff we have been talking about for the last month and splashing it down on paper or it could be legit and the guy just can’t type. So with that said, let’s talk about what we are seeing.

While the Stratosphere is up there as replacing the Fascinate, we are more interested in comparisons two and five lines below that. Thunderbolt 2? The Thunderbolt 2 is as many of you know, the HTC Vigor (first pictures). In a leaked roadmap back at the beginning of August, we saw then that this device would be replacing the original Thunderbolt – a device that has really only been out for 7 months. Is Verizon planning to rebrand it as the Tbolt 2 though? Interesting idea. The original Thunderbolt went by the model number ADR6400 and the Vigor is already listed as ADR6425, so it would make sense to re-use the name similarly to what was done with the Incredible and its follow-up.

What about the “Sam Prime“? That would be the Nexus Prime or DROID Prime or whatever the hell you want to call it that is expected to be one of the first Ice Cream Sandwich devices on the planet. According to this document, it will replace the DROID Charge which to be honest, makes a lot of sense. The Charge went by model number SCH-i510 and the Prime has already been outed as SCH-i515. The Charge is also in a similar predicament as the Thunderbolt in that its specs are from 1992 (yeah, exaggeration) and is in dire need of being upgraded.

No details on a release, but so far we have an October 6 date for the Vigor and a potential November time frame for the Prime. Seriously, September can’t possibly go any faster.

Our buddy carlz28 has finished the DROID Prime (we know that name is likely not real) boot animation that he unveiled to us last Friday. He has made some slight tweaks, but overall is just as good (if not better) than you remember. It can be flashed to almost any phone in either /system/media or /data/local with or without root. Rooted users can simply move the file using your favorite file explorer, while non-rooted users will have to use ADB. The sound file is sort of a toss up, but if you find a way to get it working, be sure to share in the comments.

With that said, this UA profile isn’t blowing anyone’s mind with specs. Is that a 480×800 screen resolution? What happened to that HD goodness? Don’t freak out just yet, as this could be a place holder that needs to be updated…hopefully. Can you imagine Google not doing their part to give us the next godly-spec’d phone? I guess they skimped on the Nexus S, but with this phone launching with Ice Cream Sandwich, I would imagine that it will blow minds.

I know, I know. We all share a similar opinion that the “DROID Prime” is a pretty unlikely name for the rumored Samsung device running Ice Cream Sandwich that is headed to Verizon, but it’s easy enough to refer to. So hang in there while we continue to use that name until we find something more suitable or semi-official. With that said, it (SCH-I515) received its WiFi certification at the end of last week, helping us check off another launch list item.

And in similar news, the “Nexus Prime” (GT-I9250)cruised through Bluetooth SIG which is another item we like to cross off of launch lists.

Not much else was given in each of these filings, but with each having received both Bluetooth and WiFi certifications now, I’d say we should start learning additional details any day now. Rumored dates currently have the device headed for either an October or November launch – we are leaning towards the latter.
