If you are a Google Play Music user, which we think you should be, go grab the newest update that was just released to Google Play. It brings a few new features such as instant mixes (which we love) going beyond 25 songs when you reach the end, new default album art (yes!), and fixes for the freezing issues on the Galaxy S3.

Funny story time. I was literally going to write a quick rant post today about how the widget didn’t have a previous track button. Instead, it had a thumbs up button. Seriously, who needs to thumb up a song on a widget? Give me some actual usage out of that space. Thanks for reading my mind, Google! I knew this day would come.

v4.5.910I

Instant mixes continue playing beyond 25 songs.

Added ability to shuffle an album, artist or playlist.

New default album art.

Previous button added to widget.

Pinning progress now shown on album and playlist pages.

Fix for the Galaxy S3 freezing issue.

This morning, a very important piece of info that was tucked in all of the other Android madness, is that Google has finally inked a deal with Warner Music Group to allow for distribution of their artist’s work through Google Play. Previously, when searching for many artists that are distributed through Warner (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young, Green Day) users would come up with nothing, but thankfully, those days are soon to be over. Since the signing, Google is now officially working with all of the world’s major labels and has a much superior offering for users than they did upon first unveiling of Google Music.

As for when exactly their library of music will become available to Android users, it is said that it will come slowly but surely and more artists will be added daily. So, if you can’t get enough of that sweet Californication, just hang in there, it’s coming.

Just now, Google’s teams have pushed out updates for three of their widely used applications - Google Wallet, Play Music, and Google Drive. For the most part, only Wallet and Drive have received new “features” so we’ll go over those. For Wallet users, the app includes new security and battery improvements as well as other fixes that should make the app more stable. Can never argue with that.

Google Drive app users have received the largest additions such as creating new folders, an update to gesture controls, pinch-to-zoom document editors, and lots more. As for Play Music, it’s merely some bug fixes with nothing new being added. Go get your updates!
