This evening, LG announced that they have produced the “world’s slimmest full HD LCD” for smartphones. It weighs in at 5.2-inches, is only 2.2mm thick with a 2.3mm bezel, and is a “true” full HD (1080×1920) display with its RGB sub-pixels. This new panel should provide enhanced outdoor readability thanks to “superiority in displaying resolution, brightness, and contrast ratio.” It will also provide an enhanced touch experience, better “grip-ability,” and a larger visible display space.
It sounds like a hell of a display. (more…)
Earlier today, the new LG G2 found its way into a handful of clear pictures, showing off a big, beautiful edge-to-edge display with on-screen navigation buttons. We also got a look at the phone’s unique Power and Volume button setup, which happens to be on the back of the device underneath the camera lens. Overall though, the set of pictures showed an impressive looking phone that even non-LG fans should get at least a little excited over. But if those photos weren’t enough, this 1-minute clip of the device in action should help.
With LG’s press event for early next month, we still have a little bit of time before the above pictured device, the G2, is official unveiled. Thanks to Engadget who recently got ahold of some nice pictures of the device, we now know exactly what we are in for. (more…)
LG already has a date saved with us for August 7 to unveil something in NYC that is mobile related. At the time that we were asked to mark it on our calendars, we tossed out the idea that this could be their press event to announce the new LG G2, which has leaked a couple of times over the last few months. Sure enough, they posted a teaser video for the event last night that all but confirms the G2. (more…)
As reported in an article through a Korean news outlet, the Galaxy Note 3 from Samsung could feature a cellphone first – 3GB of RAM. From what we have posted before, the Note 3 is said to boast a massive 1080p 5.99″ display and be powered by either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip or Samsung’s in-house Exynos 5 Octa processor. The chip will all depend on which market you purchase the device. (more…)
Thanks to a series of video screenshots posted by famed leaker @evleaks, we may now know additional details of LG’s upcoming Optimus G2 or just “G2.” The device has been rumored since last November, with benchmarks potentially confirming its processor (Snapdragon 800) and even what many believe to be the first photos of it popping up here and there. It should be a “super” phone, to put it plainly. So what have we learned tonight? (more…)
LG dropped a short note into our inbox this evening with a save of the date of sorts for a mobile event going down on August 7 in New York City. Actually, they called it an “international media event,” which seems to have made it sound much larger than a standard U.S. press event. No other details were provided, but as one would imagine, we’re already starting to come up with ideas or topics for the get-together.
You may recall LG’s confirmation from last night that their next Optimus G series of phones will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset. Is that what we’re talking about here? Is August 7 the date for LG to unveil the new Optimus G? Could be. The closeness in timing of last night’s announcement with this press note seems interesting enough. I’m sure as the date approaches, we’ll know more.
No matter what, we’ll be there.
Twitter account @evleaks posted another image this afternoon of the mystery LG device that we have been looking at for the past week. As of right now, our money is still on the idea that this is the Optimus G2 and not Google’s next Nexus, although you just can’t rule anything out these days. (more…)
