OpenFeint is basically a pimp of Android games. Not only are they helping pump out great games, they are beginning the roll-out of their social network which stretches over all of their 700+ titles. Android users can feel free to be snobby a bit, since iOS won’t have this feature till Fall. Feel special?

Feint has released 230 games to the Android Market in the past two months. After searching OpenFeint on the Market, I was literally scrolling down for 10 minutes looking through game after game. I don’t think we’ll need submissions for a game review for at least two months.

Whether you use OpenFeint’s features or not, you surely have one of their games on your device. Fruit Ninja, The Moron Test, Guerrilla Bob, and Jet Car Stunts? Come on, these games are classics. Has anyone started to use their new social network? If you have, find us on there and challenge us.

OpenFeint Launches GameFeed, a New Way to Foster Cross-Platform Social Competition for 90 Million Mobile Gamers

Burlingame, Calif. – June 7, 2011 – OpenFeint, the largest mobile social gaming network, today announced the launch of GameFeed, a cross platform news feed featuring real time gaming updates from players’ OpenFeint network. Designed to foster social competition, GameFeed launches in private beta to developers today.

“We believe mobile games should connect people, whether they’re living in distant corners of the planet or using completely different mobile operating systems,” said Jason Citron, founder and CEO of OpenFeint. ”GameFeed connects people by taking a simple act, like finishing a level or posting a high score, and turning it into a meaningful, cross platform shared experience.”

With GameFeed, developers can expose their game’s community through a new drop-in widget with one line of code. Players see a stream of in-game updates based on the activity of other players in the OpenFeint network. By immediately seeing when a friend has bested a high score or unlocked a seemingly unattainable achievement, players are encouraged to play with each other more frequently.

For players who opt in to OpenFeint, GameFeed will soon introduce them to new gamers, intelligently suggesting new friendships, featuring interesting changes to user profiles, and recommending new games that are popular among friends. “GameFeed will help form and strengthen relationships on the network – connecting Android and iOS gamers in ways that make playing games far more engaging,” said Citron.

Burlingame, Calif. – March 09, 2011 – OpenFeint, the leading cross platform social gaming network, and The9, an online game operator and developer in China, today announced a new way for top game developers to help fund their move to Android. The initiative is backed by the $100 million Fund9, a Chinese-based mobile internet development fund. OpenFeint and The9 will review and select top games and will fund their port to Android and OpenFeint integration. The companies will also pick select games to expand to China and will facilitate their localization.

Games will be chosen based on the quality of the game, past download performance in other app stores, and the strength of the game developer. Interested developers should email androidfund@openfeint.com to express interest and learn more about the opportunity.

“We launched on Android to bring gamers great content. We’ve already helped launch 250 great games, but there’s still work to do,” said Eros Resmini, VP of Marketing at OpenFeint. “There’s a treasure trove of great games on iOS waiting for the rest of the world to discover.
“Fund9 is focused on bringing the best mobile apps and platform technologies to China. Our partnership with OpenFeint is a great first step. We are excited to see some great games on Android devices in China soon,” said Chris Shen, Vice President at The9.

OpenFeint is the largest cross platform social gaming network with over 68 million players in 4,800 games. Launched just last September on Android, OpenFeint already has spawned several top 10 Android hits, including Fruit Ninja, Super KO Boxing 2, and Flick Kick Field Goal Kickoff.

The9, established in 1999 as one of the leading game developers and operators in China, has stepped into the mobile internet field and now working with major telecom carriers and application distribution channels in China with high speed growth.

One of the great things about OpenFeint and their abundance of games, is the social aspect provided by their Feint platform. Almost all of their games allow for some type of score uploading or achievement unlocking, but for me, that only becomes important when you have friends to battle it out with. As I’ve been playing Jet Car Stunts like crazy over the last few days, I’ve also been checking on my friends’ scores to see how badly I’m destroying them (hah!). , “We should build a community of friends and use it to run gaming contests in the future!” And that’s exactly what we’ll do!

All you have to do is friend us through your Feint profile, we’ll accept and then it’ll be time to start handing out some prizes. As popular games are added to the market or if we just feel like popping up an old classic one day, we’ll start spurt-of-the-moment contests that could last anywhere from an hour to a full day and at the end, we’ll hand out fabulous prizes. Sound fun?

Our Feint name: kellex

And feel free to drop your Feint name in the comments so you can build up a solid friends list to see where you stack up in your gaming ventures.

Also look for some new Feint features to be built into the app in the near future that will add to this fun community we are trying to build.

Back in September we took a trip to San Francisco to hang out with the OpenFeint team to see some of the plans they had for Android, but most importantly, what new games they were looking to release. One of the most impressive was a little game called Jet Car Stunts. It’s a time trial racing game, but you aren’t necessarily battling other people so much as you are battling the difficult race tracks. You have jet fuel to help you clear large gaps, the turning is super touchy, there are jumping tricks that only the best will find, and of course you’ll love the ability to post up a new high score into Feint to let your friends know how badly you’ve just crushed them.

It seriously has been one of the games at the top of our list for months now. $1.99 in the market.

OpenFeint pushed an additional 12 games to the Android Market today just weeks after their first wave which saw titles like Fruit Ninja and MiniSquadron top the paid app charts within 72 hours. Android users are proving that they aren’t “cheap” but really just want quality titles to choose from in order to fork over that hard earned cash. You can keep setting aside money though, as OpenFeint is planning on releasing even more batches of titles throughout the rest of 2010. Times are good in Android people.

The best way to check out their latest releases is by using the Feint Game Spotlight app.

OpenFeint Pushes Android Launch Games to #1 on the Paid Charts in Less Than 72 Hours
Smash Hit Super K.O. Boxing 2 from Glu to be included in Second Wave of Hit Games on Android This Week

Burlingame, CA – October 5, 2010 – OpenFeint, the leading cross platform social gaming network with 40 million mobile players, announced today that its Android product is off to a strong start – 4 of 8 launch games reached the Top 15 in Android Market and Fruit Ninja (Halfbrick Studios) and MiniSquadron (Supermono) claimed the Top 2 spots on the paid games chart in less than 72 hours. OpenFeint also announced the release of its second wave of hit games on Android, including Super K.O. Boxing 2 (Glu), Flick Kick Rugby (PikPok), and Kamikaze Race (Tastyplay.com).

“We’re absolutely ecstatic about MiniSquadron’s launch on Android with OpenFeint. Reaching number 2 on the paid charts and driving tens of thousands of downloads for our games has been a great success,” said Tak Fung of Supermono.

The second wave of Android games from OpenFeint launches this week and will include Super K.O. Boxing 2 (Glu), Flick Kick Rugby (PikPok), Touch Racing Nitro and Penalty World Challenge 2010 (Bravo Game Studios), Cestos 2: Party Time (ChickenBrick Studios), SpeedX (Hyperbees), Babo Crash Deluxe (Playbrains), Kamikaze Race (TastyPlay.com), Brain Twister Lite and Color Cocktail Lite (The Game Boss), Dot Dot (ustwo), and SkyForce (iDreams).

“Super K.O. Boxing 2 will make fantastic addition to the gaming community on Android,” said Mike Breslin, VP of Marketing at Glu. “OpenFeint’s social gaming platform offers an effective solution for developers and publishers to get their games discovered on Android and we’re excited to partner with them to bring one of our original hit titles to the platform.”

Each launch game will be featured in the Feint Game Spotlight app, which is quickly becoming the preferred destination for Android gamers to discover and purchase high quality games. Feint Game Spotlight is regularly updated with new games and offers gamers the chance to enter contests and win prizes.

OpenFeint’s cross platform social gaming network is adding over 160,000 new users daily and just recently eclipsed 40 million mobile players and 3,100 games. OpenFeint’s leading set of online gaming services and cross promotional tools are available to game developers through the company’s free, open source SDK.

“The past two weeks have proved to us that Android users are hungry for great games – and they’re willing to pay for top quality content. Over the next few months, we’ll continue to roll out games and help establish the paid gaming market on Android,” said Jason Citron, CEO of Aurora Feint, makers of OpenFeint. “We couldn’t be more excited about this latest Android release.”

Developers interested in implementing OpenFeint in their games can learn more and download the free, open source SDK at OpenFeint.com/Developers. Players interested in learning about more OpenFeint enabled games can download Feint Spotlight from the Android Market.

Major Wireless Carriers and OpenFeint Partner To Unleash First Wave of Hit Games on Android

Cross Platform Social Gaming Network to Offer Access to Featured Promotion to Tens of Millions of Android Subscribers

Burlingame, CA – September 15, 2010 – OpenFeint, the leading cross platform social gaming network with 37 million mobile players, is launching 20 games for Android in the next month starting today with top 10 iOS hits including dot (ustwo), Fruit Ninja (Halfbrick Studios), MiniSquadron (Supermono), Super Slyder (Sandlot Games), The Moron Test (DistinctDev, Inc.), and Tic Tac Toe (Posimotion). These games will be offered to major wireless carriers as part of a partnership where OpenFeint will regularly bring high quality games to Android as candidates for featuring. The company also announced the release of its Feint Spotlight app, where Android gamers will be able to discover new games, connect to the community, and win prizes. With over 200,000 daily activations, the Android user base is growing rapidly and will eclipse tens of millions of additional users in 2010.

OpenFeint’s cross platform social gaming network has grown rapidly since being introduced just over 18 months ago, recently surpassing 37 million mobile players and 3,000 games. Game developers gain access to OpenFeint’s leading set of online gaming services and cross promotional tools by implementing the company’s free, open source SDK.

“Android users deserve great games but haven’t had access to enough of them. That changes today,” said Jason Citron, CEO of Aurora Feint, makers of OpenFeint. “Hundreds of thousands of people activate Android phones every day, and there is a clear need for high quality games in the marketplace. The major wireless carriers are partnering with us to select the best games from iOS – like Fruit Ninja – to bring to Android.”

All games utilize the newly cross platform OpenFeint mobile social gaming network and include features like leaderboards, achievements, and friending. iOS and Android gamers can now compete against each other in the games that they love to play. With a cross platform gaming network, gamers are no longer limited to playing games with friends who only use the same smartphone OS.

OpenFeint also announced that it will aggressively market these games in its newly introduced Feint Spotlight app for Android. With new titles being added to the OpenFeint network every day, gamers can use the app to discover the hottest new games and win prizes in future giveaways.

“Android is on track to become an incredible force as one of the largest mobile platforms in the world. Developers will need to unlock this gigantic market to maximize revenue potential for their mobile games. With the help of our wireless carrier partners, we’ve created multiple viral and editorial channels to help our developers drive revenue,” said Peter Relan, Chairman of Aurora Feint.

Developers interested in implementing OpenFeint in their games can learn more and download the free, open source SDK at OpenFeint.com/Developers. Players interested in learning about more OpenFeint enabled games can visit OpenFeint.com.

The big dog of iOS mobile gaming is readying an Android onslaught later this summer. OpenFeint, who claims to have the largest mobile gaming developer community on the planet, is bringing their crew over to the good side of life and hopes to bring some much needed quality to its gaming sector.

A piece of the presser…

Android will Accompany Titles from Glu Mobile, Digital Chocolate, And Hudson Entertainment.

Burlingame, CA – July 8, 2010 – OpenFeint, the leading mobile social gaming ecosystem for iOS devices, today announced that its 9,200 member game developer community with thousands of published games will soon have a complete solution to thrive in the Android apps economy. Launching later this summer, the company’s complete solution will include its de facto standard SDK, a game discovery store and mobile payment options. It will also include high quality content from leading publishers Astraware, Digital Chocolate, Glu Mobile, Hudson Soft and independent studios like Distinct Dev (Moron Test), ustwo (Dot Dot Dot), Pik Pok (Flick Kick Football) and RocketCat Games (Hook Champ).

With a strong set of partners at launch, OpenFeint’s ecosystem provides Android users the most compelling way to discover and buy high quality online games. In addition to incorporating Google Checkout and leading community features into its developer SDK, OpenFeint will extend its wildly successful Game Spotlight discovery app to Android. Interested parties can register at www.openfeint.com/developers/android for details as they emerge.

Excited? I know the gaming arena on Android has been pretty weak for so long that it’s about time a major player comes our way.
