Picasa is at it again! The ultimate leak machine these days for anyone with too much time on their hands, has produced the first pictures from the Motorola Olympus (MB860). They aren’t much to look at and the resolution or crop job on some of them is about as weird as it gets, but we may still have discovered something special pictured in the image below:

Is that a Motorola Olympus? It’s definitely a Moto device and these pics were definitely taken in their offices, hence the logo in this pic which refers to a successful launch of some sort:

We also took a closer look at the photo below from a different user and while we can’t tell what it’s referencing, it does mention the words “OLY” and “OLYMP” which would match up to the name we’ve been hearing for months now.

Fun stuff, right?

You should also expect a post every other day now from someone scouring Picasa for the latest MB860 pics!

I keep using the word silly, but seriously it’s just been that kind of week. Apparently a tipster over at Gizmodo found the phone pictured above which is said to be the Motorola Olympus at a flea market…we’ll just pause here for a second.

And ready. The flea market version of the phone looks a lot like the Motorola Defy, but appears to have a much larger screen, front facing camera, and HDMI port so it has to be the Olympus right? Well, the tipster wasn’t shy about showing the about screen or powering it on, so this doesn’t feel like the typical leak. You can see that the model number MB860 matches up and that it runs Froyo (with Blur), but we’re still waiting on proof of its Tegra 2 processor.

Seriously, flea market?

Silliest question ever? Hear me out for a second. If you read this site at all, then you know we love us some Motorola phones on Verizon’s network and pretty much ignore everything that is AT&T. However, with news slowly leaking out each week that Motorola is leaning towards launching two separate dual-core Tegra 2 phones on both of these networks (Olympus for AT&T) (Etna for Verizon) with the AT&T version possibly coming first, we want to know which you would consider? What if the Olympus launches in January as a 3G AT&T device with specs to crush the world and the Etna doesn’t come out until March, but will run on 4G LTE?

Can you think of a better way to send you all off into a long food filled weekend than with a couple of quick rumors?

The first has to do with those pictures above which is rumored to be the Motorola Olympus, a device headed to AT&T some time early next year. Well, if you spend any time cruising through the 8,000 Android forums out there, then you may have stumbled across a few threads that have users also referring to it as the “Etna“. Apparently “Etna” is the code name for the Verizon version and fits nicely into the large mountain theme that Moto chose for this round of devices. From here forward, we’ll do our best to keep the names separated, but all signs now point to them being the same exact device only running on different networks. Expect Blur, Android 2.2 and a Tegra 2 packed inside unless a miracle happens and Gingerbread bakes itself on board at the last minute.

The second rumor has to do with a device that seems to be topping everyone’s list for yearly upgrades, the Incredible HD. The Inc HD, which gained some buzz after a ridiculously rumored original launch date of November 23rd was mentioned, is definitely not coming this month and more than likely won’t see December either. We had already heard from a VZW player that it had been delayed until the first part of the year and today we’re hearing it again. Store managers have apparently caught wind of either our site or are hearing it from higher up the chain that it will definitely be a 4G LTE device and not seeing the light of day until January at the earliest.

Recap! Motorola Etna is what we all care about now. The Incredible HD is confirmed for the 10th time to be real and won’t be here until January.

Cheers Bob!

Is that the Motorola Olympus? According to a tipster on the loose with photos it is.

The device looks big, bold and beautiful and about what we expected one of the first Tegra 2 devices to look like. It’s sporting what appears to be a pretty large screen (bigger than 3.7″), possibly a front facing camera, soft keys, and even a weird jagged edge around the outside. Or is that sneaky case to help disguise it? But damn, that screen just gets bigger the more you stare at it.

Our friends at “Motorola” just sent over this interesting screenshot, which appears to be straight from the new Motorola Olympus that we’ve been talking non-stop about over the last few days. While we’re running on this hunch that the Olympus and Everest are both tablets, our tipster left out any real specifics. And with that said, this is a shot of an “About” screen which we all know can be doctored fairly easily. You’ll notice that the notification bar is missing and that the resolution on the image doesn’t necessarily match any of the devices we have, but that could mean a variety of things. Oh and I blocked out the PRL version which is why you see a giant black space at the bottom.

Is this a 7-inch tablet with weird resolution? Will we no longer have a notification bar in Gingerbread? Is this fake? We’ll leave it up to you to decide.

Update: As Fira pointed out in the comments, one of Google’s Android peeps (Romain Guy) has posted this screenshot which he calls a “stock” and “unmodified” version of Android running on his device without a notification bar. Of course he doesn’t mention which version that is and we’re still skeptical…

We’ve been talking all week about the Motorola Tegra 2 phone which we were initially thinking was called the Olympus, but now that the codename Everest has surfaced (via Android and Me), we’re starting to think that there is a chance these could be a pair of Android tablets instead. What would you all think about 7-inch and 10-inch tablets launching together running Tegra 2s and Gingerbread/Honeycomb?

Before you laugh at this thought, let’s look back at a quote from Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha in May (via PCWorld)…

“I think that a companion 7- to 10-inch device in a home will become very important, [both] as an augmentation to your TV experience [and] also as a way of walking around the house and streaming TV to that device,” Jha said. “I think we’re very focused in participating in this convergence that’s coming between mobility and home, and I think you will actually see some products from us in a very short period of time.”

Makes sense right?

And in doing this, Motorola would be covering not only the tablet crowd that wants a smaller and more pocketable device like the Galaxy Tab, but would be hitting up the 10-inch iPad audience. We also shouldn’t forget that Motorola seems primed to take down RIM with the launch of the Droid Pro, but adding a 7-inch tablet to the mix would allow them to compete directly with the new Blackberry Playbook.

But what about the name Stingray that we’ve seen a couple of times? Your guess is as good as ours, but our thought is that Motorola is changing codenames like crazy to keep these devices hidden. We can’t say enough how locked up this new wave of Moto devices is. And for argument’s sake, the Droid X had a model number of MB810 and the Olympus has been spotted as MB860 which looks like a natural progression for a phone.

With all that said, just remember that we’re simply speculating and bouncing ideas off of all of you. Until we see some shots of any of these devices, it’ll all be a bunch of rumors that we thoroughly enjoy talking about. Plus, the names Olympus and Everest just roll off the tongue nicely together, don’t they?

Thoughts?

We’ve been attempting to track the mysterious Motorola Tegra 2 device over the last couple of weeks and are starting to think it could be the Motorola Olympus (MB860) which just recently received wi-fi certification. While it’s still a guess that this will be the dual-core device, we are doing our best to put all of the clues available together.

On that note, we seem to have missed a somewhat-major clue from that pesky @androidevicespy Twitter account. Back on August 30th, it tweeted the named “Olympus” and model number “MB860″ with AT&T as a potential carrier. We had heard a rumor yesterday that this new device might not be exclusive to Verizon and I guess this would help that argument.

We still aren’t exactly sure where @androidevicespy pulls its info from, but from past experiences, we know that it has led us in the right direction.

And the story grows…

Cheers @RobNazarian!

The Motorola MB860 which is rumored to be the Olympus and another of Moto’s tablets just received its wi-fi certification. Or better yet, is this the mysterious Tegra 2 phone? We’ve heard the name mentioned maybe once or twice before and basically know nothing about it, but that its model number doesn’t match the Stringray MZ600 we found a few months back. The certification above lists it as a “smartphone” meaning this could be the first appearance of the game changing device we expect to be revealed at CES.

How does Olympus sound as a name? And check out the must-have specs everything has put together at this post.
