Photos reportedly detailing HTC’s Ocean Note smartphone are making the rounds, just two days ahead of the company’s U event. The photos aren’t the highest quality, but do paint a solid picture of what we should expect, and the codename has been confirmed in past leaks, as well as by LlabTooFeR, one of the more solid HTC intel sources. According to the latest report from Taiwan, HTC is readying the launch of three devices for the first quarter of 2017. To be sure no one here is completely shocked about this timing, HTC has been teasing an announcement for January 12, but it’s currently not known whether this event has do to with a new smartphone or something else completely. However, as stated in this new report, we will see at least one new phone from HTC on that date. (more…)
Known HTC info leaker LlabTooFeR is back this week, essentially calling BS on HTC’s denial of last week’s Ocean news. In case you missed it, an HTC designer posted what appeared to be a concept reel of a device codenamed Ocean. The device features pressure sensitive touch controls instead of physical buttons, making it quite the futuristic device. However, HTC denied that it was a real project, with the designer removing the video almost as soon as it went up. Interestingly, the designer’s removal of the video is what gives credence to the idea that it may be real in the first place.
So, with that news fresh in the mind, three codenames are now floating around: Ocean Master, Ocean Note, and Ocean Smart. LlabTooFeR gave no other details or context, but did link to the previous Ocean information that was originally posted on Twitter by @evleaks. (more…)
