portenzo nexus 10

Portenzo, makers of fine hand-made tablet cases, is now selling their Alano and BookCase varieties for the Nexus 10. We’ve taken a look at both the Alano, which is made from a single sheet of leather, and the BookCase, which is exactly as the name suggests. Our looks may have been for the Nexus 7, but the the Nexus 10 cases have the same options and are made with the same high-quality materials.

5daysnexus-1

Welcome to the first of five contests for a week long series of giveaways we have dubbed the 5 Days of Nexus. With little interesting news coming out of Mobile World Congress, a stark contrast to years past, we thought it would be the perfect time to focus your attention elsewhere and reward the faithful Droid Life community with a bunch of free devices, all of which fall under the Nexus brand. That’s right, we are giving away nothing but Nexus phones and tablets to you, the DL reader.

Video: Hands-on With the Ubuntu Touch Preview Build

Ubuntu Build

Well, I finally got Ubuntu Touch booted up on my Nexus 10, so here is a brief hands-on with the world’s newest mobile OS. This is a developer preview build and is intended for use only by developers or hardcore enthusiasts. There are barely any working applications and in terms of being a “daily driver,” you would be better off looking elsewhere. What I will say is that Ubuntu Touch is actually quite gorgeous and I could really see myself using it down the road once it becomes more functional/stable.

How to: Flash Ubuntu Touch Preview On a Nexus Device Using Custom Recovery

Ubuntu Nexus 10

This morning, the Ubuntu Touch developer preview was released for Nexus devices. At first, it appeared that the files could only be flashed if you were on a machine running Ubuntu, but now, anyone with an unlocked device running a custom recovery can get to flashing.

We have placed easy-to-follow instructions down below for anyone willing to try out the preview. Again, this is a developer preview and you will find bugs and non-working functions. Long story short, if you want to use your device as you would normally, stay away from these.

Google Introduces the Nexus Store Locator to Help You Find Nearby Nexus Devices

nexus 4 finder

Not that finding a Nexus 4 is as difficult as it once was, but Google still wants the process to be simple, especially for those who want to buy the phone in person, rather than via Google Play. Through their newly launched Nexus Store Locator, users can search for both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, to find stores nearby.

As one would expect, the Nexus 4 finder will only list T-Mobile stores for now, since that’s the only retailer currently selling the phone. For the Nexus 7, I came up with a bunch of Gamestop stores, though the device is available at other electronics dealers.
