We are still digging through Android 4.4.3, looking for major changes to talk about, like the newly re-skinned dialer that we already showed you. Unfortunately, the update is starting to look as minor as expected, so we aren’t finding much much else in terms of up-front overhauls to give you a look at. The People app did receive some much-needed love, though, making it look a lot more like Gmail and a lot less drab. (more…)
We are seeing Android 4.4.3 images for the Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi, Nexus 10, Nexus 4, and Nexus 7 (2012) WiFi and Mobile. The Nexus 5’s Android 4.4.3 will be build KTU84M, while the rest will see KTU84L. (more…)
The folks over at MYCE discovered a potential codename for an unreleased Google device that recently made its way through the Chromium issue tracker. There is a build fingerprint in the listing that mentions two words – “volantis” and “flounder.” If you have followed any of our Nexus coverage over the years, the name “flounder” should stand out as being significant, since Google tends to give its Nexus products fish-related codenames. Is this the next Nexus? Let’s talk about it. (more…)
Ready for the deal of the week? eBay is currently selling brand new Nexus 10 16GB models for $269 with free shipping. That is a hell of a discount when you consider the fact that Google originally sold this tablet for $399.
The Nexus 10 has been sold out on Google Play for months, so we aren’t exactly sure how new units are showing up now on eBay, and at this insanely low price. You won’t see us complaining, though. This is my personal go-to 10-inch tablet – has been for almost a year. (more…)
Google’s Nexus 10 tablet sold out on Google Play months ago, around the time of the Nexus 5’s introduction. Since, its store pages have almost always contained some form of “we are out of inventory” or “check back later,” like most Google products do when they sell out or are about to be replaced. Today, though, those listings changed and now say “Coming soon” in the area that typically lists out shipping info. The prices for the 16GB and 32GB are also back at $399 and $499, respectively. The Nexus 10, probably the tablet I have used the most over the last couple of years out of any Android tablet, can be picked up today through one of eBay’s Daily Deals for $329.99. This is the 32GB version that originally retailed for $499 at launch over a year ago and has been out of stock on Google Play for months. Other retailers are selling this model for $399 now, so at $329.99, you are still seeing a significant discount, though it’s not exactly the $170 off that the deal would lead you to believe. (more…)
Update: These renders were submitted to a handful of sites, including ours. We’d lean on this being fake rather than close to being real. Take it for what it’s worth. Move along.
Are these two pictures of the new Nexus 10 made by Samsung? Industry leaker @evleaks posted up the picture below moments ago with a warning that he couldn’t confirm any of the details as they were sent to him as a tip. His tip suggested that the device will again be made by Samsung (not Asus as has been previously reported) and will feature an Exynos 5 chipset, WQXGA display, 3GB RAM, 16 or 32GB of storage, 5MP rear camera, 3MP front camera, and run Android 4.5. The images also show front-facing speakers and transparent Kit Kat notification and navigation areas.
Sound odd? Well, we received similar information from what may be a separate source within the last 24 hours, but have been sitting on it. (more…)
