Deal: Brand New Nexus 10 16GB for $279 on eBay

The Nexus 10, Google’s 10-inch tablet that seems to have sold out forever ago through Google Play, can be had in brand new condition through eBay this weekend for $279. The tablet originally retailed for $399 with 16GB of storage, so you are looking at a substantial discount for a tablet that is still probably my favorite 10-inch slate of them all. Again – brand new, $279, 16GB of storage, and is a Nexus.

To refresh your memory, the Nexus 10 did its best to push boundaries when it was initially released. With its 10-inch high resolution display (2560×1600, 300ppi), Exynos 5 processor, 2GB RAM, 9,000mAh battery, and newest version of Android, it is still a force to be reckoned. Plus, who knows if we will ever see another 10-inch Nexus tablet from Google again, with rumors suggesting that the Nexus program is coming to a close this year.

The Nexus 10 deal includes free economy shipping.

How to: Grab the OTA File URL for Nexus Updates

Every time a new update surfaces for a Nexus device (like Android 4.4.3), there is a mad dash to find the OTA URL from Google’s own servers so that those who were not lucky enough to receive the update over-the-air can sideload the .zip file. You know, because none of us have any patience whatsoever these days.

The problem is, we often see users get prompted with the update who don’t know how to capture that URL for everyone. So we thought we would put together a quick tutorial on how to do just that – capture a Nexus OTA URL. That way, should Android 4.4.4 or 4.5 or 5.0 show up some day, we will all be prepared to bring update love to the rest of the world.  (more…)

Download: Android 4.4.3 OTA Update for Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 10, Nexus 4, and Nexus 7 (2012)

Android 4.4.3 is hitting Google’s servers, which means everyone is going to be hitting the “check for updates” button on their Nexus devices. To skip the waiting game, you can download the OTA update from below and sideload it yourself using adb. That’s why you have a Nexus device, right?

Below, hit the download link for the zip file that matches your device. Please note, you will need to be running the most recent version of Android available for your device in order for these zip files to work.  (more…)

People Also Sees Much-needed Polish in Android 4.4.3

We are still digging through Android 4.4.3, looking for major changes to talk about, like the newly re-skinned dialer that we already showed you. Unfortunately, the update is starting to look as minor as expected, so we aren’t finding much much else in terms of up-front overhauls to give you a look at. The People app did receive some much-needed love, though, making it look a lot more like Gmail and a lot less drab.  (more…)

Is “Flounder” the Codename for the Next Nexus? (Updated)

The folks over at MYCE discovered a potential codename for an unreleased Google device that recently made its way through the Chromium issue tracker. There is a build fingerprint in the listing that mentions two words – “volantis” and “flounder.” If you have followed any of our Nexus coverage over the years, the name “flounder” should stand out as being significant, since Google tends to give its Nexus products fish-related codenames. Is this the next Nexus? Let’s talk about it.  (more…)

Deal: New Nexus 10 16GB for $269 With Free Shipping

Ready for the deal of the week? eBay is currently selling brand new Nexus 10 16GB models for $269 with free shipping. That is a hell of a discount when you consider the fact that Google originally sold this tablet for $399.

The Nexus 10 has been sold out on Google Play for months, so we aren’t exactly sure how new units are showing up now on eBay, and at this insanely low price. You won’t see us complaining, though. This is my personal go-to 10-inch tablet – has been for almost a year.  (more…)

Nexus 10 Listing on Google Play Changes Status to “Coming Soon”

Google’s Nexus 10 tablet sold out on Google Play months ago, around the time of the Nexus 5’s introduction. Since, its store pages have almost always contained some form of “we are out of inventory” or “check back later,” like most Google products do when they sell out or are about to be replaced. Today, though, those listings changed and now say “Coming soon” in the area that typically lists out shipping info. The prices for the 16GB and 32GB are also back at $399 and $499, respectively.  (more…)
