Milestone 2 Makes Brief Appearance? Does HD Video?

by: | posted 08.31.10 | News, Videos

The Motorola Milestone 2 made an unexpected appearance today and one that wasn’t planned by Motorola from what we can tell.  A full on intro video was found by Android Central then quickly removed only to re-appear again from some a sneaky Engadget reader.

Some interesting facts from the video:

  • Opening credit mentions “Motorola Milestone 2 with MotoBlur”.  Yuck.
  • HD video.  (Yep, the same feature left off of the Droid 2.)
  • Flash 10.1.
  • 1 GHz processor.
  • Up to 40GB of storage.
  • 3G mobile hotspot.
  • New Droid 2 keyboard.
  • Improved camera with dual LED flash.
  • Seriously, MotoBlur everywhere.

Latin American Milestone Froyo Now “Under Evaluation”?

by: | posted 08.27.10 | News

Maybe it was just a type-o?  Two days ago, the Motorola software upgrade timeline clearly showed that the Latin American and Mexican Milestone would not be receiving Android 2.2 and that apparently started a war.  After 48 hours of anger and #motofail hashtags, Moto has now changed their stance on the possibility of a Froyo update.  Via Twitter…

To realize the call made by you guys decided to reassess the possibility of upgrading the Milestone w / Android 2.2

Now that’s some Android community power right there.  +1 to all of us!

Latin American Milestone Will NOT Receive Android 2.2

by: | posted 08.25.10 | News

This Motorola software upgrade timeline is as good as any daytime soap opera.  Just yesterday it was upgraded to show that the Canadian Milestone would be receiving Froyo some time in early 2011 and everyone bunny hopped for joy.  The good news stops there unfortunately.  The timeline has once again been updated only this time it shows as clear as day that the Milestone in Latin America and Mexico will NOT receive Froyo…ever.  Yikes.

Any of our Latin American readers want to weigh in?

Canadian Motorola Milestone to See Froyo in Q1 2011

by: | posted 08.24.10 | News

Just yesterday, Canadian Motorola Milestone owners were left with the thought that they may never see Android 2.2 after Moto released a timeline stating the update was “under evaluation.” And then today happened.  It looks now like the Milestone, Droid cousin, and friend up north will in fact see Froyo, but not until the 1st quarter of 2011.  Talk about leaving yourself a cushion.

Motorola Decides to Give Froyo to the Milestone, DROID X Still “Late Summer”

by: | posted 08.23.10 | News

If the locked bootloader on the Motorola Milestone wasn’t enough, the news a month or so ago that Android 2.2 for the Euro-Droid was still under consideration just about started a war.  But guess what cousins of the Droid world?  Moto has decided to give it to you!  Well, to the European version anyway and some time in Q4.  Yay!

Still no firm date for the Droid X, but we’re thinking it could be any time now that a version of Froyo has already leaked for it.  We’ve even had a couple of sources confirm that the leak was the real deal, hence the reason for Motorola to send out C&D letters to have it removed.  And isn’t it late summer?  Or does “late summer” mean August 31st?

More timeline dates here.

Cheers Eric!

Motorola Milestone Receiving Android 2.2 in September?

by: | posted 08.02.10 | News

What’s that?  You can’t read German tweets?  All you really need to get out of that is the “Milestone mitte/ende September” which simply means, middle to end of September for Android 2.2.  This is fantastic news for Milestone owners who just a few weeks ago were told the decision had yet to be made by Motorola.

In case you were wondering, that Twitter account is the official German o2 account who should have a pretty good idea on software updates.  On the flip-side, Motorola has yet to announce anything.

FRF91 Froyo Running on Motorola Milestone

by: | posted 07.27.10 | News, Root

All of the hard work that has been put into cracking the Motorola Milestone over the last 7 months or so is starting to pay off.  While I don’t completely understand “second boots” and the entire process the devs of this community are using at this time, they have definitely figured out a way to get the FRF91 Froyo build onto this locked down Moto device.  The port also seems to work flawlessly aside from a little camera malfunctioning.

This is great news for the Milestone community just a week or so after hearing from Moto that the decision to update to Android 2.2 had not been made yet.  Now you have an option!  Not bad right?

Video action…

And here’s me looking at you Birdman.  How’s that Droid X work coming?  (smiley!)
