One of the snazzy new features that iOS 7 users will be able to take advantage of once Apple has released it, is a sweet 3D-like homescreen/wallpaper. When titling your iOS device, the homescreen icons will appear to move around, allowing you a different viewing angle of whatever wallpaper is set behind them. It’s definitely neat, but definitely not new, either.

As pointed out on Android Guys, there’s already an app for that for Android! 3D Image Live Wallpaper allows for this same affect, enabling users to place any custom image as their wallpaper and get that same 3D effect that is shown off on iOS 7.

The app costs just $1.60 and after trying it out myself, will admit that it gives off a pretty cool effect to say the least. Make sure to pick it up so that when your iOS friends start trying to show off this Fall, you can say you’ve had it the whole time. Wink, wink.

Yep, it’s true, we have an addiction to live wallpapers. The newest one we have found is called A Liquid Cloud and it is currently on sale for $0.99 through Google Play. With A Liquid Cloud, you can choose between preset themes or even create your own unique theme, each of which can be suited to whatever type of theme you would like on your device. 

There are plenty of custom enhancements you can do to make the wallpaper act differently when touched, plus you can change the look of the actual cloud themselves, too. For a buck, you can’t go wrong with this one.

If Origami Live Wallpaper from earlier this week wasn’t to your liking, then you might like Ditalix Live Wallpaper instead. Much like Origami, it brings a colorful and vibrant look to your homescreen, but also gives you a massive amount of options to choose from to customize it how you see fit. If you like a certain pattern or shape, but don’t care for the color, simply change the background image to one of the pre-loaded options or even upload your own. 

The wallpaper comes with a ton of custom themes and backgrounds to start out with for free (Androids, Greek letters, leaves, etc.), but if you want even more, there are theme packs you can purchase for $0.99 a pop. There is one pack for $2.99 (currently on sale from $6) that gives you all of the present and future theme packs. Not too shabby.

Ditalix Live Wallpaper Brings Colorful Themes Right to Your Device is a post from: Droid Life

Ahhh live wallpapers, one of the original selling points for Android over iOS. They may have lost some of their lustre over the years, but every now and then we find a gem floating about the Play store. Origami Live Wallpaper is one of those that will likely stick to my phone’s home screen for some time.

The wallpaper itself is a mix of colorful triangles that animate and change depending on the speed you have set. Working together in a theme of up to 10 colors and 4 different shadow types, the result is a beautiful arrangement of shapes that come to life on your phone. If you’d like to completely customize how they act and appear, you can do that to no end. If you’d like it to be more simple, feel free to take advantage of the dozen or so built-in themes that are all beautifully done in their own way.

After using the wallpaper for a full day, I didn’t notice any battery drain in particular, so this app appears to be well-made. Feel free to give it a shot.

Origami Live Wallpaper for Android Brings Triangular Color and Grace to Your Device is a post from: Droid Life

I still enjoy the occasional live wallpaper from time to time, and it’s especially nice when a developer gives a whole new way to look at them. Take Moment Live Wallpaper for example. With Moment, you can take your own videos and turn them into very classy live wallpapers that react to your touch. In the words of the developer, “think Harry Potter newspaper.”

The best way to get an idea for what this app does is to watch their video down below. The developer shows off what appears to be a yellow flower, but as he scrolls, it’s as if your home screens act as a camera that rotates in a 3D environment around it, giving off an incredible effect. You can also set filters, edit frames, and really get creative with clips from your phone that you choose to come alive on your home screens.

The app costs $2 in Google Play, but you’ll see that the price is completely justified with how much inspiration the developer put into the application.

Moment Live Wallpaper Creates Stunning Displays From Your Favorite Videos is a post from: Droid Life

One of my favorite parts of the Ubuntu Phone OS was the homescreen you are brought to when you power the phone on. Luckily for me, I’m not alone and some developers got together to make that design into a nifty live wallpaper. Once installed the wallpaper gives you a clock smack in the middle of the screen with subtle pulsing circles behind it. Very subdued and minimal for those who like it that way.

The wallpaper doesn’t drag on the phone’s performance too much either, which is a common problem from live wallpapers. While the app is fairly barebones now, the developers have promised customization like moving the circle, ability to change the clock format and different colors. For free it’s a live wallpaper with a lot of upside, you can get the download link below.

Can’t Wait for Ubuntu and Android To Merge? Try This Slick Live Wallpaper is a post from: Droid Life

Quality and beautiful live wallpapers do not come along all that often. When they do though, we make sure to share them with you because still to this day, they are one of the most unique features of Android. Today’s hot new addition is called Solar Power, and damn is it pretty and feature packed.

The basic idea here, is that you get to turn the sun into the most stunning sun ever created and then watch it hover at different angles all over your home screen. You can change the color, adjust glare intensity and flare agitation, make it interactive to the touch, change the orbit speed, and most importantly, how it is viewed on your phone. I’ve been engulfed in this thing for the last 20 minutes and am wanting to go back for more to get this thing tweaked perfectly. A great option for live wallpaper fanatics.

Solar Power Live Wallpaper Brings Colorful Beauty to the Sun is a post from: Droid Life

One of the many desirable aspects of the Android operating system is the ability to customize the look of your device to however you see fit. One of the easier ways to do this is by applying what is called a “live wallpaper.” A live wallpaper is an animated image that takes the place of a stagnant image on your homescreen. Some live wallpapers are interactive and react to certain gestures or motions on the device.

They are easily set, just like a normal wallpaper, but depending on the live wallpaper, you can spend hours customizing them. Here is how you set one up. 

Standard Method:

1. On any homescreen, place a finger on the display and long press.
2. From the menu that pops up, select “Wallpapers.”
3. From here, select “Live Wallpapers.”
4. Here you will see a list of the live wallpapers that are installed on your device.
5. After selecting one, you can preview what your device will look like while the live wallpaper is applied.
6. If you like what you see, hit “Set Wallpaper.”

Alternative Method:

1. First, head into the Settings menu of your device.

*Press the Menu button and then Settings. On some devices without a Menu button, you can pull down your Notification menu and select the Settings icon.

2. From there, select “Display.”
3. Under Display, you will see an option for “Wallpaper.” Select it.
4. From here, select “Live Wallpapers” which will pop up the list of your installed live wallpapers.
5. From there, follow Steps 5 and 6 on the Standard Method.

Installing live wallpapers from Google Play:

Getting more live wallpapers onto your Android device is easy. If the ones pre-installed don’t interest you, there are thousands that can be downloaded directly from the Google Play store.

1. Open Google Play.
2. Open the search bar that appears on top.
3. Type in the words “live wallpaper” then hit “Enter.”
4. Your screen will be populated by a never ending list of free and paid for live wallpapers that you can install.
5. Once you find one you like, install it to your device.
6. Once installed, follow the directions starting from Step 1 in the Standard Method above.

What makes it special is that you can add your own photos to the wallpaper, which means you never get tired of the same boring scenes.

Flow Live Wallpaper, A Deliriously Mesmerizing Liquid Wallpaper is a post from: Droid Life

There might be some people that don’t care for Live Wallpapers, but every now and then we come across a few that might just get some folks excited. The newest one to cruise into our inbox is called Alive Video Wallpaper and it brings some fantastic views and scenery to life right on your display. 

Once downloaded, you open the settings and can then choose which scenes you want to download. There are deserts, forests, bodies of water and other neat videos that you can download and bring to life on your homescreen. That’s right, we said video. According to the developer, this is the first live wallpaper app that plays videos in the background, but doesn’t take away from the performance of your phone.  If live wallpapers are your thing, definitely check it out.

Alive Video Wallpaper Brings Stunning Scenes to Life on Your Device is a post from: Droid Life

Portal 2 is a very popular game among the geek/nerd/tech community because it actually makes us use our brains. You don’t just go around shooting zombies or fighting dragons, but you have to test your brain power and be a wizard at problem solving. Everyone’s favorite character, Wheatley now makes his debut on Android as an awesome live wallpaper. 

What makes him even more stellar on Android is that his eye follows your finger’s movements across the display and blinks when you tap on him. But alas, if only he could deliver his fantastic sense of humor as well to us in this form. The wallpaper is only a $1 and is quite worth the buck.

Portal 2 Fans, Wheatley Has Arrived for Android in the Form of a Live Wallpaper is a post from: Droid Life

You can get a sense of how much people enjoy the look of Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich when developers and theme artists are actually inspired enough to create work that mimics it. A team of developers by the name of Team Gummy over at RootzWiki has gone ahead and created three individual live wallpapers that play on the ICS live wallpaper named Phase Beam. By replacing the floating spheres with icons, it’s just another way for people to create a look of their very own. Install as you would any 3rd-party app, but do note that from what I experienced, you can only have one installed at a time.

It has 6 color combinations available at this time, but it’s one of those apps we can see growing and allowing for full customization down the road.
