Verizon is running its Urban Challenge this weekend up in Seattle and plans to give away a few HTC devices to 3 sets of winners. Which one exactly? Possibly the Droid Incredible?  Well according to the picture on their main page it’s the DI, but if you take a quick look at the “About” page for the challenge you’ll see a much more surprising name.  Six HTC Merge (aka Lexikon) devices are up for grabs!  

And yes we know, both HTC and Verizon have yet to announce this device, so we’re as  surprised as you are.  They may still have some spots available in the contest, so jump on it if you want to have a brand new, and unannounced HTC device.

And if any of our readers are in the area, feel free to snap some shots as they’ll likely have the phones on display.

Late October-early November is shaping up to be Verizon’s ultimate holiday launch party if our sources are correct (and they usually are).  The latest news to hit our inbox suggests that the Droid 2 Global, Droid Pro, Motorola Citrus and Palm Pre Plus 2 will all hit VZW store shelves on November 11th.  This also matches up to the HTC Merge/Lexikon release date we had a couple of weeks back, making the 11th one heck of a day to watch out for.  Talk about giving Android users a handful of top notch Big Red choices, right?

DROID 2 Global, DROID Pro, Citrus and Palm Pre Plus 2 Launching November 11th is a post from: Droid Life

We just received a little Friday tip that the HTC Lexikon/Merge will be hitting Verizon stores in about a month on November 11th.  A specific name was not confirmed nor was pricing information given, but we can guess that it’ll be at about the standard $199 on new 2-year contract with a mail-in-rebate of some sort.

We’re only considering this to be rumor until we get some really hard evidence, but Verizon definitely likes Thursday launches meaning the 11th looks mighty tasty.  Stay tuned!

We just posted up some new pictures of the HTC Lexikon/Merge that’s headed to Verizon and now have video of the boot animation which as you may have guessed, does not feature a Droid red eye.  Obviously one can be added at any time, but with this Verizon logo boot anim and Bing locked and loaded, doesn’t that pretty much seal the deal that this won’t be a Droid?

Anyone wish this was the next Droid and not the Droid Pro?  (My hand might be up right now.)

The HTC Merge/Lexikon keeps making appearances, but for the most part, is still somewhat of a giant question mark.  We gave you the user guide for the device which lacked an official name, had heard that it was initially going to be a part of the Droid franchise until it appeared full of Bing, and know that it won’t be a 4G device.  We do know it’ll be a global device that runs at 800MHz, but we still have zero idea as to when this bad boy might launch.  Questions, questions.  It sure looks pretty though doesn’t it?

A new Verizon roadmap of sorts has leaked out from a variety of sources through Engadget and we’ve grabbed the major bullet points which affect your Droid lives.  The entire roadmap basically highlighted every Android device expected to hit VZW over the next few months, but we picked out the “Droid” friendly ones.

Here is what the new rumors suggest…

• Motorola Droid Pro tentatively scheduled for late October or early November. It’s listed as having a 1.3GHz processor, Froyo, global radios, and Flash 10. We still have every reason to believe this is the phone we’ve been calling the Droid 2 World Edition (or Global Edition), but it’s unclear whether it’ll replace the Droid 2 altogether.

• HTC Merge / Lexicon / Lexikon coming in late October / early November, too. Don’t be fooled: all of these code names refer to the same device, and even Verizon’s communication uses both “Merge” and “Lexicon” interchangeably. As expected, it’s a global phone with a 1GHz Snapdragon.

• Motorola Stingray tablet in Q1 of 2011. Now this is interesting. We’d previously thought the Stingray would be a smaller tablet, but it now seems it’ll be a full 10 inches with Android 3.0 Gingerbread, 16GB of on-board storage, and Tegra 2. Oh, but that’s not the best part: it’ll also be “hardware upgradeable to LTE,” initially launching with CDMA alone. Whether that means you’ll need to purchase and insert some sort of module or something, we’re not exactly sure.

What can we make of this?  Word from our sources after the break.

• Let’s just say that through our sources, we can confirm almost all of this including a few additional details.
• The “Droid Pro” to our knowledge will actually be called the Droid 2 Global, hence the reason we’ve been using that term for the last month. It is also expected to replace the original Droid 2 altogether.
• The Stingray tablet has always been a 10″ tablet.  It will run Google’s custom Android tablet OS which has not been confirmed yet to be called “Gingerbread” and could still be “Honeycomb.”  Q1 is when you should expect this though.  We also fully expect this to carry the “Droid” name when finalized.

So we’re really just waiting for Q1 2011 then right?  Unless Motorola has a secret device up their sleeves, we aren’t going to see a big holiday splash to ramp up the Droid line again.  I guess we’re stuck with the Samsung Tab?

New Verizon Roadmap Emerges with Stingray, Droid 2 Global and Lexikon News is a post from: Droid Life

We got our hands on the HTC Merge/Lexikon user guide today and all of your Bing worries have been confirmed.  The guide also confirms that it is indeed a global phone, has a slide-out keyboard and Froyo, but that’s about it.  The name was left off of it as that is clearly still being debated and no other specs were revealed that we don’t already know.

We’re also pretty sure that this will NOT be the next Droid.  We’ve heard murmurs from a few sources that it was at one time under consideration, but as far as we know will no longer become a part of this exclusive family of smartphones.

Yesterday we saw some pretty revealing pictures of a new HTC device headed to Verizon, codenamed the “Lexikon” and the week before we brought you some exclusive shots of the Droid 2 Global.  Do either of these phones interest you?  Are either of them a “must have”?  Or are you waiting for something bigger and better?

The device we know as the HTC Lexikon (ADR6325) just made a huge appearance over at BGR. The device is meeting all of the specs that we figured it would, but now sports a very Droid-esque appearance and what looks to be a fantastic physical keyboard.  Let’s also not forget though that it’s a global beast (SIM card included), has a 5MP camera, runs Android 2.2 and more than likely the new Sense.

Oh…yes that shot above does say BING.  Maybe this won’t be the next Droid?  How could any Droid survive without the Google Apps suite?

After seeing our Droid 2 Global exclusive pictures and now this new HTC device, you’ve got to be excited for the holiday season.  Verizon again “ftw.”    Gallery after the break.

HTC Lexikon Shows Up Looking Like the Next Global DROID is a post from: Droid Life

You are looking at a picture of the HTC Lexikon which could very well be the next “Droid” family member, meaning it’s headed to Verizon and packs a big enough punch to receive the coveted label.  While the picture above looks slightly different than the photos we’ve seen of a new slider from HTC that is also possibly headed to VZW, the specs appear to matchup.  An almost 4″ screen plus a slide out keyboard; is that an instant win for some people?  It looks a lot like the Incredible, which in our books is a good thing.

Oh, we almost forgot to mention that an RUU (HTC leaked ROM) has already dropped.  Catch it and rumored specs after the jump.
