It was only a matter of time, right? Last week we saw a version of HTC’s Sense 3.5 ported over to the Desire, so forming a team to work on bringing it to the DROID Incredible just seemed like a logical next step. And after looking at these screenshots, you can see that the team has made some progress by getting it booted and then fixing a ton of initial bugs in just a short few days. You won’t find a test build to flash at this time, so try as best as you can to remain patient. The 13-man team is working hard to get this out to the masses as soon as possible.
HTC Sense 3.5 Port Coming to a DROID Incredible Near You (Updated: Incredible 2 Too)
This Week In The Life Of DROID: 9/2/2011
Well, folks, the time is upon us. Next week, the hypebeast goes into slumber until the next big thing HTC Vigor comes our way. It’s been quite the ride waiting for the DROID Bionic to make its debut. Even though it still hasn’t been officially announced. I was just speaking with Kellex about how all the way back in January of this year we were playing with an earlier build of the DROID Bionic at CES, and then all of a sudden it disappeared.
It has been 8 months since then, and we are now just a week away. Lord, help us.
- How about one more huge Bionic gallery before we let you go for the three day weekend.
- Google wants more from Motorola than just their patented goodies.
- Droid Landing has a new game to play, involving augmented reality.
- The DROID Bionic isn’t even out yet and it’s already been rooted apparently.
- DROID Incredible is fixing to receive Gingerbread shortly.
- Need to update your DROID 2, but you’re rooted? Check out our guide.
- HTC confirms, via Twitter, that the Thunderbolt will receive Gingerbread…soon.
Hope everyone has a great weekend, and stay safe!
DROID Incredible Gingerbread Update Returns with New Build 4.06.605.3
Whatever the bug was that the Verizon testing team found for the original Incredible and its Gingerbread update was significant enough that they decided to pull it. That bug though, must have already been fixed as the support documents for 2.3 are back and showing build 4.06.605.3 rather than .2. We received an anonymous tip this morning suggesting that the update would actually be available today, but questioned that after noticing that VZW had taken down the 2.3 update page. Well, now that these documents are back with an updated build number, we wouldn’t be surprised if the update did indeed start tonight.
Talk about working fast, right? They just announced yesterday that the update would be available in September. HTC wasn’t messing around.
Let us know if you get it!
HTC: Gingerbread Headed to Both Incredible and Thunderbolt in September
Looks like the wait is almost over for our dear HTC Thunderbolt and DROID Incredible owners. We have been listening to readers rant about HTC’s lack of Gingerbread support for these devices for quite some time, but it looks like all your dreams are coming true next month.
HTC is now tweeting that Gingerbread will begin rolling out to these devices in September, and as always, they are thanking us for our support patience. Everyone keep on your toes, we are almost there.
Still no mention as to why the Incredible update was pulled after rolling out to a test group.
Cheers black stag, Joseph and Brent!
DROID Incredible Gingerbread Update Available for Manual Upgrading
The Gingerbread (Android 2.3.4) update for the DROID Incredible may have been pulled by Verizon for further testing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have it right now. The file has been made available for all users to flash – including non-rooted users. As with any RUU, this will wipe your phone completely and remove root. Your SD card will remain with all of its contents, but this is essentially a factory reset, meaning you will lose all of your apps.
We should point out that since VZW has possibly pulled this update, there is a chance that they will reject it and wait for a different build from HTC. So there is a chance that this build will no longer be final and if you upgrade to it, may be off the update path. If you want to be as current as possible without root, then by all means, jump on this. And if you want to keep root, then head over to one of your favorite forums, as I am sure that ROMs are already being built off of this build.
Verizon Rep: DROID Incredible Gingerbread Update has been Delayed
According to VZW support, the Gingerbread (Android 2.3.4) update for the DROID Incredible has been delayed. No exact reason was given for the push back, but they could have discovered a bug through an initial test group. They are definitely headed back to the lab for “more testing.”
Sorry folks, we thought you would all have it by the end of this week.
*Note – If you are rooted and want to enjoy the update now, head over to XDA.

Cheers Mike and everyone else!
DROID Incredible Gingerbread Update is Finally Ready, Device Jumping to 2.3.4
The HTC rep that told one of our readers that his DROID Incredible would not be receiving an update to Gingerbread (Android 2.3) was clearly mistaken. The update is now done and will likely be pushed to devices over the next few days. With support documents hitting Verizon’s site as of this morning, it should be here in no time, peeps.
Not a lot of major changes will come with the update, but with the phone jumping all the way up to Android 2.3.4, it will be faster and more stable than ever.
