Update:  We tossed in a new screenshot up there that shows two things of importance:  1. That it’s a 4G LTE phone. 2. That it has global capabilities, just like the Incredible 2. Talk about an added bonus, especially with the possibility that the Galaxy Nexus won’t be.

We were starting to wonder if the HTC Vigor aka Rezound aka Incredible HD had been axed or severely delayed with the two big announcements on the way from Motorola and Samsung/Google. It had essentially disappeared from all chatter around these parts and from our sources as well. Today, it’s back! And the name Rezound that we first reported on back in September has pretty much been confirmed. It’s in Verizon’s Device Management system as the Rezound, our sources are now calling it the Rezound, and well, we are expecting that to be plastered on retail packaging.

Whether you are a fan of the name or not, you will be a fan of the phone itself. Dual-core processor, HD screen, Beats integration, and LTE should make this device a true beast. I know it has a tough task going up against the Galaxy Nexus, but that doesn’t mean the phone isn’t above top tier.

Still no word on a release date. The last roadmap we saw showed October 20 which is next Thursday. Sort of doubting that we will see it then with the RAZR and G-Nex about to get all sorts of love.

HTC Rezound Appears in Verizon System: Name Looking More Confirmed by the Minute, Global Capabilities? is a post from: Droid Life

Are we all now 100% confused as to the name of the HTC Vigor aka Rezound aka Incredible HD?  What you are seeing above, is an accessory page that has been built for the “Vigor by HTC” on Verizon’s website (view the page here).  So what does that mean?  Is it not the HTC Rezound like we reported last week?  Did Verizon actually settle on Vigor?  No Incredible HD as was once rumored?  Let’s try to walk through what we are seeing and what we know.

First let’s start with the fact that Vigor was originally supposed to be a codename and more than likely still is.  If you look at any HTC RUU that has leaked over the last year (Mecha, Bliss, Vivo, etc.), you probably won’t find one that includes the retail name of the phone in it.  And so far, we have seen “Vigor” used in both of the leaked RUUs from the last week or so.

Second, the product ID number that has been assigned to this Vigor page is really old at 5723.  The Rhyme – which just came out this week – has a product ID of 5758 and the Bionic sits at 5716.  Logic would lead me to believe that the HTC Vigor or Rezound will have a number beyond 5758 when it launches, but I guess logic doesn’t always win.  Big Red could be setting up the page well ahead of time.  And why would they go out of their way to trademark Vigor if they were going to replace it with Rezound?  So many questions.

Have HTC and Verizon finally settled on the name Vigor?  I hope so – it’s a fine name for a phone. Something in my gut tells me this may just be a placeholder though, but am certainly hoping I’m wrong.

Over the weekend, our sources sent over the picture you are seeing above which has led us to believe that the HTC Vigor may not launch as the Incredible HD after all and will instead hit store shelves as the HTC Rezound.  When we reported this news, the reaction was not the most positive thing we have seen in our lives (by the way, the comments are hilarious).  Many of you were hoping and expecting to see it as the Incredible HD or even the Vigor for that matter.  Clearly HTC and Verizon are rolling with the Beats by Dre vibe of this phone, hence the sound-esque (zound?) feel of Rezound.  We are pretty confused, but wanted to get your thoughts in one of our standard polls.  Vigor, Incredible HD, Rezound or even Thunderbolt 2?  Which do you prefer?

Has the HTC Vigor been renamed as the Rezound? Internal Verizon systems are certainly hinting at that being the name. The word “Rezound” first popped up a week or so ago along with the Rhyme in a DLNA filing, but at that time, no one had any idea that it was going to be this device.  The model number of ADR6425 is how we are coming to the conclusion that this is the Vigor.

What does that mean for the Incredible HD name? We’re still hearing that it could be a possibility, although this is starting to look pretty official.

So the picture above just popped into our inbox.  Not really sure what to think about, but definitely wanted to share.  According to this document (which could be 100% fake), the HTC Vigor will be branded as the DROID Incredible HD and then released on October 13 as the “world’s first HD smartphone.”  Do we believe it?  Not sure just yet.  The number one issue I have is that this spec sheet lists the phone as having a 4.3″ WVGA (800×480) display that is “optimized for HD content” yet mentions the resolution as being 1280×720 and “HD” right below it.  So what is it?  Could be an error by a Verizon employee or could just mean the entire thing is fake.

As we all know, anyone can whip up a document in Word, take a photo of it, and then pass it on as legit. This one for the most part, looks pretty real except for that resolution part.  The rest of the specs all match up to what our sources have told us in the past and this shot even lists out some Verizon contract jargon at the bottom.  I for one, would love a class 10 32GB microSD card and a set of earbuds.

If it’s real, then “Hooray!”  If it’s fake, then this dude spent a lot of time putting it together, but obviously did not understand what WVGA meant.  No Verizon logo in sight either.

HTC Vigor to be Rebranded as the DROID Incredible HD, Launching October 13? is a post from: Droid Life

Hello, HTC Vigor.  You have eluded us for the most part up until now, but we are excited to finally get a clean look at you.  With your red accents, big beautiful screen, and black rubbery Incredible-esque contoured back, we would gladly accept you into our everyday lives.

Rumored to be Verizon’s next big 4G LTE device to follow the Bionic on October 6, we can gather a couple of things from these first pictures. It definitely has HTC Sense, but we weren’t expecting it not to.  There is a front camera embedded in the top right corner of the device, above a screen that looks massive.  The device styling overall seems like an Incredible on steroids – something you won’t find us complaining about.  We aren’t seeing a 4G LTE logo anywhere, but also are not seeing a Verizon logo, so will hold off from throwing too big of a fuss.  It is likely just a test unit without any carrier branding.

*Note – While I mentioned that the device looks like an Incredible, a few readers pointed out that the color scheme also hints at DROID branding and a previously rumored HTC device.  Could the Vigor end up as the Incredible HD?  Just a thought.

Other potential specs that separate sources have told us were:  4.3″ HD screen, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 1.5GHz dual-core processor and Beats by Dre technology.  There are no indications that this device has Beats technology on the outside, but we have been told that it could be software-related.

Exclusive: First Pictures of the HTC Vigor is a post from: Droid Life

We’re almost positive that the new HTC 4G LTE device headed to Verizon in the coming weeks will be called the Thunderbolt 4G and now we want to know your thoughts on it.  There are varying opinions surrounding almost any new device name and this one in particular has had its fair share.  We’ve already seen names like Mecha, Incredible HD, Incredible 2, etc., but Thunderbolt 4G should be official next week.

So do we like it?  Should they have gone with one of the other rumored names?  Cheesy?  Thunderbolt 4G fitting?  Any other suggestions?

We first reported the name “Thunderbolt” as a possibility for the new HTC 4G LTE device that many have been dubbing the Incredible HD and after seeing a link from some new HTC ads, we’re pretty sure that’s the name you’ll get when this puppy is unveiled next week.  The ad above was taking users to http://www.htc.com/4G?extcid=Thunderbolt-4G-Disp which clearly states the word “Thunderbolt” and more than likely will end up being “Thunderbolt 4G” a la the EVO 4G.  The name seems a little gimmicky, but who am I to judge smartphone names?

HTC Thunderbolt 4G Caught Posing in Ads is a post from: Droid Life

The HTC device with a dozen names that has been popping up all over the place the last couple of days is about to be announced as the first 4G LTE device on Verizon at CES.  VZW is holding a big ol’ 4G LTE event on January 6th that we’ll be attending and are fully expecting the Incredible HD/Thunderbolt to be there.  In fact, if you take HTC for their word, it will be the first one on display.

We’re obviously still expecting Motorola to make a big splash with the Etna and Everest tablet, but HTC’s hardware seems to have been close to finalized for months now while Moto’s might still be super fresh.  No matter what, January 5-9th is going to be the week you won’t want to miss.

HTC Plans to Be the First to 4G Again, Must be the Incredible HD? is a post from: Droid Life

We’ve received word that the model number for the Incredible HD will be ADR6400 (officially ADR6400LVW) which makes perfect sense.  The original Incredible is ADR6300 and if everything we have been led to believe comes true, this is the follow up device to it, so the numbering sequence matches right up.  We’re also hearing that a name has still not been finalized and that “Thunderbolt” is appearing on documentation alongside “Mecha.”

Maybe “Thunderbolt” is just a code name for it being the first 4G LTE device?  Remember that first 4G commercial from Verizon with the thunderbolt in a box?  Fitting.

Oh, and I already ran through the standard Picasa and Google searches, but feel free to in your spare time.

That folks, is what we all believe to be the Incredible HD and as you can see from the picture, is indeed running on Verizon’s 4G LTE network.  Now, there weren’t any doubts that this device would be headed to Big Red, but that icon in the top left corner for the My Verizon app definitely helped solidify everything.  And don’t be surprised if pictures of this device start leaking out by the minute as we get closer and closer to an official unveiling at CES in 2 weeks.

Incredible HD Gets a New Head Shot is a post from: Droid Life

HTC’s CEO Peter Chou announced this week that they’ll have a variety of 4G LTE handsets in 2011, but that we shouldn’t expect them until at least the middle of the year.  While I’m not about to call out their top dog, as he knows much more than I do, I will say that we’ve heard that the Incredible HD has hit a new wave of testers which usually points to a sooner-than-later release.  They were all forced to sign some crazy NDAs, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some leaked stuff were to pop up any day now.

There is also a chance it will just be called the Incredible 2 or Mecha, which we’ve heard in the past.

HTC Delivering LTE Handsets Mid-2011, Incredible HD Hits Testers this Week? is a post from: Droid Life

Can you think of a better way to send you all off into a long food filled weekend than with a couple of quick rumors?

The first has to do with those pictures above which is rumored to be the Motorola Olympus, a device headed to AT&T some time early next year.  Well, if you spend any time cruising through the 8,000 Android forums out there, then you may have stumbled across a few threads that have users also referring to it as the “Etna“.  Apparently “Etna” is the code name for the Verizon version and fits nicely into the large mountain theme that Moto chose for this round of devices.  From here forward, we’ll do our best to keep the names separated, but all signs now point to them being the same exact device only running on different networks.  Expect Blur, Android 2.2 and a Tegra 2 packed inside unless a miracle happens and Gingerbread bakes itself on board at the last minute.

The second rumor has to do with a device that seems to be topping everyone’s list for yearly upgrades, the Incredible HD.  The Inc HD, which gained some buzz after a ridiculously rumored original launch date of November 23rd was mentioned, is definitely not coming this month and more than likely won’t see December either.  We had already heard from a VZW player that it had been delayed until the first part of the year and today we’re hearing it again.  Store managers have apparently caught wind of either our site or are hearing it from higher up the chain that it will definitely be a 4G LTE device and not seeing the light of day until January at the earliest.

Recap!  Motorola Etna is what we all care about now.  The Incredible HD is confirmed for the 10th time to be real and won’t be here until January.

Pre-Thanksgiving Rumors: Incredible HD in January and Motorola Etna is Verizon’s Olympus is a post from: Droid Life

Our favorite sneaky LTE engineer Panda dropped this tweet over the weekend to help confirm that November 23rd as a possible release date for the Incredible HD was a pretty ridiculous rumor.  We’ve heard from quite a few various sources that 4G LTE Android devices likely won’t be out for at least a couple of months, so just know that if you are expecting one before the holidays, Santa may leave you unsatisfied.  If you have an upgrade available, you may want to just hold onto it and wait for the barrage of 4G LTE devices that we are sure to see in early 2011.

Incredible HD Not Coming Tomorrow is a post from: Droid Life

The picture above could very well be the Incredible HD or “HTC Mecha” that has been leading the ridiculous rumor mill around the interwebs over the last couple of weeks.  Twitter conversations by us and others have revealed a mixed bag of details, so try and hold strong.   If it is, then get ready for a device with a front facing camera, running the new Sense UI, and is 4G ready.  Yep, it sounds like a winner in our books.  We still have no idea if or when this bad boy will come out, but ignore the rumors suggesting a pre-order might happen tomorrow as it is still likely going through testing.

Nice of the tipster to leave off the search bar, so we can now start biting our nails over the thought of it being a Bing device.  Bah.
