New Verizon MAP is Out – Confirms $149 Incredible 4G LTE Price, Adds Galaxy S3 to the Fun

by: | posted 06.05.12 | News

Hey look, a unicorn! The DROID Incredible 4G LTE has been included in Verizon’s latest MAP (minimum advertised price) list at the $149 price point we first reported a few weeks ago. At launch it may actually end up at $199, but with a $50 rebate, leaving it at $149, but you get the idea.

With price out of the way though, do we think that Verizon will ever announce a release date? They first revealed the device officially back at CTIA, which was about a month ago (our first look), but would not give us a time for launch. We were under the impression that the phone was scheduled to hit stores on the last day of May, something this MAP also suggests, yet that clearly did not happen.

Now that the Galaxy SIII has been announced and will likely arrive before June is over, we are wondering why the waiting game from Big Red on the Incredible. You can imagine that it will be tough to compete with the GS3 at only $50 cheaper.

Incredible 4G LTE Will Launch With a $50 Rebate

by: | posted 05.14.12 | News

Verizon announced the DROID Incredible 4G LTE last week, but for whatever reason, wasn’t ready to tell us when it would be available for purchase. We have been told by sources that it could show up either this Thursday (May 17) or during the last week of the month. Pricing, we were told weeks ago that it would come in around $149 after rebate, and at least half of that has been confirmed to us today. As you can see in the shot above, the Incredible 4G LTE is highlighted with a $50 rebate next to it. No full price to confirm just yet, but we really are fairly certain that it will come in around the $149 mark.

Video: Quick First Look at the DROID Incredible 4G LTE

There she is, folks, the DROID Incredible 4G LTE. I gave you some photos of the phone in the wild from yesterday, but I finally had a chance to swing by HTC’s booth here at CTIA to spend some quality time with it. My initial reaction is, “Smallish device with some great specs that will be a winner if priced right.” This is not the HTC One X, let’s be clear. It is however the best of the Incredible series and will probably end up as VZW’s top LTE phone thanks to the Snapdragon S4 chip inside and a combination of other specs. Specifically, the expandable storage and removable battery make this a step ahead of some of those One Series phones in my opinion.

We still aren’t sure when the phone is coming out, but have heard either next week or all the way at the end of the month. Pricing is also a mystery, however, we have heard $149 a few times.

Quick Hands-on With the DROID Incredible 4G LTE

by: | posted 05.08.12 | News

Last night, while making the rounds in New Orleans, I had a chance to spend a few minutes with the newly announced DROID Incredible 4G LTE. This will be Verizon’s next major LTE release and has easily been the topic of the week here at CTIA. The phone in hand, feels great. It only carries a 4″ display, so it really is like a 2012 version of last year’s Incredible 2. The size is almost identical, but the build materials and internals make it quite the upgrade.

One thing to note is that this does not have HTC’s ImageChip (we were told that was reserved for One Series phones) which means that some features of the camera will be slightly different than on the One X or One S. In our short time with it, I wouldn’t say that it seemed worse off, but features like burst mode did not appear to be included. It should still be the same high-end 8MP shooter from the One Series, but with slightly different software.

We should have the opportunity to dive deep into the phone within the next couple of hours, once the show floor opens, so stay with us. Enjoy the pics for now and let us know what you think about a 4″ screen – too small for 2012?

Monday Poll: Is the HTC Incredible 4G LTE Your Next Phone?

by: | posted 05.07.12 | News, Polls

After we posted on Verizon’s announcement of the Incredible 4G LTE, we had a few folks stating that this would be their next device. The phone’s specs aren’t bad and are quite competitive when compared to the Galaxy Nexus or other top tier Verizon devices. With its 4″ qHD LCD display, NFC chip, Beats Audio, Ice Cream Sandwich, Sense 4.0, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB of RAM, expandable storage, 1700mAh battery, 4G LTE, and 8MP camera we are sure to see plenty of people pick this one up. What about you? Are you going to buy this phone?

HTC and Verizon Announce the DROID Incredible 4G LTE, Available in the “Coming Weeks”

by: | posted 05.07.12 | News

Nice way to kick off CTIA 2012, right? Verizon and HTC made the DROID Incredible 4G LTE official this morning, however, they were not ready to give us a price or release date. It is as you expected it to be though, with its 4″ qHD LCD display, NFC chip, Beats Audio, Ice Cream Sandwich, Sense 4.0, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB of RAM, expandable storage, 1700mAh battery, 4G LTE, and 8MP camera.

It should be a solid phone with enough power to make it worth your consideration. Sources of ours have suggested that it will retail for $149 or so and could be available by May 17.

Since we are at CTIA all this week, don’t be surprised if we spend some quality time with it.

May 2012 Verizon Rumor Round-up: DROID RAZR HD, Galaxy SIII, White Nexus, Family Data, ICS Updates and More

by: | posted 05.02.12 | News, Rumors

We get asked quite often to put together posts that grab all of the current rumors in the wild and present them, so that folks with contracts ending or the urge to buy a new smartphone know what to expect over the next few months. Since we focus on Verizon around these parts, that’s exactly what we will focus on here unless there is something else on on a potentially massive scale that needs mentioning. I can’t promise that this will be a monthly thing, but we would certainly like for it to be, assuming we get new juicy details for the world to slurp.

First Look at the HTC Incredible 4G LTE Otterbox Defender Case

by: | posted 04.27.12 | Accessories, News

At this point, we are starting to pencil in a release of the DROID Incredible 4G LTE some time during the next couple of weeks. A finished build of the device has been photo’d a handful of times, the DroidDoes.com page for it went live earlier in the week, and now we are seeing cases from players like Otterbox arrive in retail packaging. We had a targeted date at one point that referred to April 26 as being the day, but with that being yesterday and no phone in sight, we will focus on next week or the one after.

Verizon released the Spectrum and RAZR MAXX back in early Q1 and nothing important since. With it being 1 month into Q2, you have to assume that something will arrive any day now. The DROID RAZR HD is a possibility, but we are expecting the Incredible 4G LTE to launch well before it.

As a recap, this device will sport a 4.3″ qHD LCD display, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, NFC chip, 4G LTE, 8GB of onboard storage, SD card slot to add on more, and 1GB of RAM. It’s almost like an HTC One S (our review), but with different screen tech, LTE, NFC and expandable storage. So yeah, that’s basically us saying that the Inc 4G is better.
