Whenever a new flagship phone from almost anyone is announced, we try to toss together a quick spec comparison sheet of it versus the competition, so that you can see what we’re working with. Since the Nexus 5 is most definitely in “flagship” territory – it’s Google’s only phone after all – then we thought it was time.
So here is how the new Nexus 5 compares to the iPhone 5S, Galaxy Note 3, Moto X, G2, and more in terms of specs. (more…)
According to the newest Consumer Reports article filed concerning smartphones, the site’s editors have been very impressed with Apple’s newest iPhone offerings, but they are still “no match” to Motorola’s fresh lineup of DROID devices on Verizon. While they were impressed with a working fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 5S, and were happy with iOS 7′s addition of Command Center, overall battery life and “smallish screens” are the reasons that Apple’s flagships fall to the ULTRA, MAXX, and DROID Mini on Verizon. At 10:00AM Pacific, our favorite Apple execs with limited descriptive dictionaries will take the stage, use bold white lettering with numbers that only they understand, because they are in categories that only they have deemed important. They’ll take shots, but so will we. They’ll invent this and that, while forgetting that most of us have been doing this and that for ages. I cannot wait.
Let’s live blog this piece. Join us below. (more…)
In a recent report, it looks like Apple’s iPhone 5 is losing its grip on the everyday consumer. According to Consumer Reports, the iPhone 5 is now listed as the lowest rated top 3 smartphone on each carrier, minus T-Mobile who haven’t had the device on their network. Topping the lists are the Samsung Galaxy S3 for T-Mobile, the LG Optimus G for AT&T and Sprint, and the RAZR HD’s for Verizon. Crazy enough, the iPhone didn’t even make it onto Big Red’s list, which is actually quite surprising. (more…)
