For those of you that own either a Galaxy S4, DROID DNA or HTC One, the official Hulu Plus app was updated today for your device specifically. After the update, while watching your movies and shows, look for the new “hq” button, allowing for full 1080p streaming right to your device.

While this will undoubtedly raise your data usage, if you are on a tiered plan, I would highly recommend being on WiFi during use.

What’s New:

Now offering even higher resolution playback for the following devices:

Samsung Galaxy S4

HTC One

HTC Droid DNA

During playback, look out for the “hq” option. You’ll feel like you have bionic retina implants minus the deductible and waiting for its invention.

Also includes fixes for some playback issues for certain LG phones and other devices.

May we just say, “It’s about time.” Finally, Hulu+ has been updated to allow for select Android tablets running Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich to watch their favorite movies and shows. The list is not as long as we would hope and there is no sign of Samsung tablets, but we can cross our fingers that eventually they will receive some love.

Supported tablets:

• Asus Eee Pad Transformer
• Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime
• Motorola Xoom
• Motorola XYBoard 10.1
• Toshiba Thrive
• Acer Iconia.
• LG G-Slate
• HTC Flyer
• Vizio 8″ Tablet

We tend to lean more towards Netflix around here, but we do enjoy Hulu+ from time to time seeing as how their library of content is much newer and stays up to date quite nicely.

Orb Live introduced the latest version of their app this morning which just so happens to include Hulu support. And no, we aren’t talking Hulu+ paid support, we are talking the free streaming you get when you jump on their site via computer. To be clear though, the app isn’t necessarily pulling straight from Hulu to your phone, but is instead pulling a feed from your computer and then making it playable on your phone. Did that make sense?

So in order to get Hulu up and streaming on your phone, you will need to buy this new Orb Live app for $9.99, install some software on your PC or Mac, and then have at it. You can also pull any other media content that’s on your home computer (music, photos, videos, Pandora, etc.) – just make sure it has an internet connection at all times.

We just received a friendly tweet from a reader, tipping us that the Hulu Plus application was not showing that annoying red popup which usually states that their device is not supported. Having a Nexus S on CM7, which is always rejected by the Hulu Plus app, I have never been able to play Hulu Plus videos from the application. I immediately opened Hulu Plus, and sure enough, no red popup.

Anyone else that has been left in the cold by Hulu, we implore you to go check the app out, and let us know if you get the same results. If Hulu has decided to somehow turn off device checks, then maybe they are finally starting to see things our way. The open way.

Cheers Chad917!
