Last month, our friends over at NVIDIA held their first annual Player’s Choice Awards to determine which Tegra-optimized Android title was the best of the best of the best, sir. Major titles such as Shadowgun, GTAIII, Dark Meadow, and many others were up for three top titles – Best Graphics, Best Gameplay, and Best Overall. We had many of our own readers vote, so let’s get down to it. 

And the winners are…

Best Overall: Grand Theft Auto III

Well, Rockstar’s GTAIII basically swept it. Shadowgun had little to no competition for best graphics, but I wouldn’t have been shocked if Dark Meadow had somehow taken the Best Overall title. It’s a fun game and is actually a lot easier to control on a mobile device, unless you happen to own a Bluetooth gaming controller. If you haven’t checked any of these titles out yet, this is a good sign that you might want to get on that.

NVIDIA Announces Their TegraZone Player Choice Winners, No Surprises Here is a post from: Droid Life

Get your guns cocked and ready to take down some dirty drug dealers, because Rockstar Games is bringing Max Payne to Android. Starting April 26, folks will be able to pick up the classic title on their Android devices through the Google Play Store. There is no list of supported Android devices yet, but here’s hoping it launches with no hiccups regarding device compatibility.

The full classic Max Payne PC experience, Max Payne Mobile has been optimized for both iOS and Android devices and features HD graphics, high-resolution textures, Social Club connectivity and user-customizable controls.

Rockstar is most likely making a trailer for it as we speak, which should hopefully give us a peak at how awesome this game will look on mobile. No word on pricing yet, so let’s just guess it will probably be around $4.99, much like Grand Theft Auto was. Anyone excited for the Payne?

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto III Goes On Sale For $3 During The Holidays is a post from: Droid Life

Fans of Grand Theft Auto, our day has come.  Rockstar has officially launched Grand Theft Auto III to the Android Market.  We were fortunate enough to get our hands on the game early and will say that it is one of the smoothest ports of an any console game to mobile we have ever played.  It brings back plenty of memories of stealing cars, running from the cops, and building up a deadly arsenal for tearing down Liberty City.

The app runs $5 in the Android Market and that’s a “steal.”  You won’t be disappointed in the quality or gameplay. Again, this is not a dumbed-down version of the game we played a decade ago.  This is the actual game we all obsessed over and fell in love with.  A note from Rockstar was added in the Market, saying that support for the Galaxy Nexus is right around the corner.

Rockstar Games Releases Grand Theft Auto III For Mobile, Available In Android Market Right Now is a post from: Droid Life

Ten years ago Rockstar Games released the controversial and revolutionary game, Grand Theft Auto III to an eager Playstation crowd. Since then, Rockstar has continued to rock the console and PC gaming industry, and now look to do the same in the mobile landscape. A special 10 year anniversary edition of GTA3 will be hitting select Android devices December 15 for $4.99. The following devices will be supported at launch:

Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive

I know what your thinking, no support for the Galaxy Nexus, DROID RAZR, or even the Bionic – crazy right? While the device list is surely lacking, a $4.99 price-tag for this game is more then pleasing. To bad it isn’t one of the $0.10 app specials.

Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition Coming To Android December 15th is a post from: Droid Life

10 years ago this month, Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto III to the world. An open world game where you were a lowly thug on the streets of Liberty City and things happened, bad things. No one knew that this game would change how almost every other game after it would play. So to celebrate this benchmark in video games, Rockstar is planning on releasing a mobile version of GTA 3 “later this fall” to a “select new generation of Android devices.” Those devices include the Motorola Droid X2, Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S II and even support for the Motorola XOOM, ASUS Transformer and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Rockstar says to “stay tuned for more devices to be announced” on top of that list. Noticeably missing though is the Xperia Play, a ‘Playstation phone’ made specifically for games. Seeing as how GTA 3 made a name for itself on the Playstation 2 this is an odd omission.

It will be interesting to see how well the mobile devices will run this game, but it is 10 years old after all and it did not have the same graphics or size that games these days have. As long as this is reasonably priced I will definitely be looking into this as a game for my XOOM.
