Samsung introduced the all new Galaxy Tab 3 yesterday. It is the definition of low to mid range, bringing specs that might have impressed us back in 2011. To Samsung’s credit, we are sure this tablet will be marketed as a budget-friendly companion, allowing users to complete their digital tasks and consume medium amounts of content. 

The device’s specs are sub-par, featuring a 7″ WSVGA display with a resolution of just 1024 x 600. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with a 1GB of RAM, comes packed with a 3MP back-end camera, and runs a 4,000 mAh battery.

There is still no price listed for this device, but take a look at those specs and you can guess it will be somewhat low. If you recall, there was a rumor circulating that it would cost just $150, and with the specs confirmed now, that wouldn’t shock us.  The Galaxy Tab 3 goes on sale starting in May for the WiFi model and June for the 3G model.

Samsung Unveils 7″ Galaxy Tab 3, Nothing to Get Excited Over is a post from: Droid Life

Could this be our first look at an upcoming super tablet from Samsung? Apparently, it very well could be. According to SamMobile, this is the Galaxy S Tab, as Samsung supposedly decided to apply their marketing and ad knowledge to their lineup of high-end tablets, ditching the numbered Galaxy Tab scheme. 

Below we have listed out the rumored specs for your inspection. Nothing is official, but so far I like what I see. Powering the Galaxy S Tab would be the new Octa processor with 2GB of RAM, plenty of storage options, a whopping 9,000mAh battery, and a pretty decent 2560 x 1600 high-res display. Not bad, right?

According to these specifications, this tablet is a beast through and through. If anything, take this tablet and couple it with a Bluetooth controller and you might have a sweet mobile game center.

First Image of the Supposed Samsung Galaxy S Tab Plus Hits the Web is a post from: Droid Life

According to new rumors out of Korean Times and SamMobile, Samsung is looking to showcase their upcoming Galaxy Note 3 at this year’s IFA. IFA is taking place this year during September 6-11 in Berlin, Germany. For those that don’t remember or weren’t following the launch of the Galaxy Note 2, it was unveiled at last year’s IFA, which would allow this rumor to be well received. 

From what we have seen rumored, this device could come with a gigantic 5.9″ OLED display, as well as Samsung’s new Exynos Octa processor.

Samsung to Announce Galaxy Note 3 at This Year’s IFA in Berlin? is a post from: Droid Life

According to Phone Arena, they have themselves a couple pictures that are of the upcoming Galaxy Tab 3 from Samsung. The above image shows a smaller tablet with overly sized icons and a strange looking button “thing” on the left side of the device. Naturally, the picture is blurry and we can’t make out the model name on the box, but it clearly says “Galaxy tab 3″ above it. I do have a few discrepancies with this image, but I’ll get into that down below. 

The next image is of the actual device. It is still wrapped in its plastic and is turned off, which gives us basically nothing in terms of if this is legit or not. The only characteristic we can make out is that in the top right hand corner is a front-facing camera. Other than that, it’s a blank slate.

As for my issues with this being a finalized packaged product, the outside of that box is not very “Samsung.” Usually, on their tablet boxes, they have some specs shown off as well as highlights on their software that comes baked in. Also, take note that there doesn’t appear to be a single Samsung application installed on that device. Where’s the TouchWiz themed Settings icon? Is Samsung getting in the business of releasing vanilla Android tablets? I doubt it.

Now, this could be it, but it also may not be. It’s not a bad thing to question these images since as we all know, nothing is confirmed.

In other news, I am almost now certain that no one that leaks images knows how to properly focus a camera.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Supposedly Pictured, Looks Quite Peculiar At First Glance is a post from: Droid Life

According to an un-sourced DigiTimes article, Samsung plans to launch three tablets in 2013. Technically, this info is not new since we are expecting two Galaxy Tab 3 models (one 10.1″ and one 7″) and the Galaxy Note 8, which was even outed by a Samsung executive. The news is that Sammy plans on pricing the 7″ tablet extremely low, anywhere from just $149 to a high of $199. 

So far, very little is known about either Galaxy Tab models. All that has been rumored is a 5MP camera, two models for each variation sporting WiFi/3G connectivity, and 32GB and 64GB size options. No word on processors, displays, or anything of that nature that would hint at a low price point.

I would like to take this time to remind manufacturers that it shouldn’t be a complete race to the bottom. This isn’t limbo. Instead of sacrificing quality, let’s meet in the middle. Give us a some good specs that will interest buyers and price it accordingly. $250 is a great price point for a well-powered tablet. To some buyers, specs have nothing to do with it. They will see a company like Samsung, a well recognized name even to uninformed consumers, and think that they are getting a great tablet for just $150. Who knows, maybe it will rock. /rant

At this point, it is quite clear that 2013 is shaping up to be Samsung’s biggest year yet in the mobile industry. With very highly anticipated flagship devices yet to be announced and the blog-o-sphere lighting up over next month’s MWC device unveiling rumors, Samsung barely has to try at this point to make headlines. The newest info across the wire are rumors of their upcoming Galaxy Tab 3 tablet devices, said to be ready for launch by sometime mid-2013. 

Much like the Galaxy Tab 2, there will be two separate versions; one 7″ and one 10.1″. With both models will come two variations; one WiFi-only and the other would support 3G/4G connectivity. Both tablets are reported to sport 5MP cameras (surprised it’s not 8MP by this point), and will feature 32GB or 64GB storage options. For the sake of making sure we put all of the info out there, it is also said both tablets will launch in the color white to begin with.

Since it’s still January, feel free to shoot down below what you hope to see from the Galaxy Tab 3. If it was me designing the thing, I would need a much better display than what we have seen previously, 2GB of RAM, that new Exynos 5 or higher, and a hardware design that Apple couldn’t sue me over. Is that so much to ask?
