At this point, it is quite clear that 2013 is shaping up to be Samsung’s biggest year yet in the mobile industry. With very highly anticipated flagship devices yet to be announced and the blog-o-sphere lighting up over next month’s MWC device unveiling rumors, Samsung barely has to try at this point to make headlines. The newest info across the wire are rumors of their upcoming Galaxy Tab 3 tablet devices, said to be ready for launch by sometime mid-2013. 

Much like the Galaxy Tab 2, there will be two separate versions; one 7″ and one 10.1″. With both models will come two variations; one WiFi-only and the other would support 3G/4G connectivity. Both tablets are reported to sport 5MP cameras (surprised it’s not 8MP by this point), and will feature 32GB or 64GB storage options. For the sake of making sure we put all of the info out there, it is also said both tablets will launch in the color white to begin with.

Since it’s still January, feel free to shoot down below what you hope to see from the Galaxy Tab 3. If it was me designing the thing, I would need a much better display than what we have seen previously, 2GB of RAM, that new Exynos 5 or higher, and a hardware design that Apple couldn’t sue me over. Is that so much to ask?

We know, we have told you over and over again that if you are looking for an Android tablet right now, the Nexus 7 is the way to go. But if the bottom-line price is an important issue, then today’s Woot! deal will be hard to ignore. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is on sale today only for $179.99 for a refurbished model. That gets you a 7″ tablet with a 1GHz dual-core processor and Samsung’s TouchWiz on top of Ice Cream Sandwich packed inside. There is 8GB of on-board storage that can be expanded with a microSD card.

Not the best tablet in the market today, but again, this is a deal. And if the refurbished tag is giving you second thoughts, let me say from personal experience that I bought my WiFi XOOM refurbished from Woot! and it is still going strong to this day.

That price though is an off-contract cost as Verizon no longer offers subsidized pricing on tablets since the introduction of their shared data plans. 

The device rocks a 7″ screen, runs Ice Cream Sandwich with TouchWiz, has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 3.2MP rear camera, VGA front camera, and 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB through an SD card slot.

Verizon announced this morning that they will begin to carry a 4G LTE powered Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) as of this Friday, August 17. For $349, you can add this to your ongoing tablet collection and attach it to your Share Everything plan for just $10 extra per month. The price is an off-contract price, as Verizon killed off subsidized tablet pricing once their shared data plans went live back in early July.

This tablet is not necessarily new and has been available as a WiFi-only model for months, but we know that there are users out there who can’t live without 4G LTE at all times. The device rocks a 7″ screen, runs Ice Cream Sandwich with TouchWiz, has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 3.2MP rear camera, VGA front camera, and 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB through an SD card slot.

This is by all means, a mid to low-range tablet, hence the $349 price tag. Unfortunately for Samsung and Verizon, this tablet can’t match up to the Nexus 7, so unless 4G LTE is a must for you in a big slate, it’s going to be tough for us to recommend you run out this Friday and pick one up.

Verizon Adds Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to Tablet Lineup, Available August 17 for $349 is a post from: Droid Life

If you are looking to buy an Android tablet right now, it’s hard to over look ASUS. Whether it be the Nexus 7 or the higher priced Transformer Infinity, they are on top of the Android tablet game. Although, if you are a sucker for a good deal, you might want to check out the bundle that Samsung and Best Buy have put together which is to arrive in stores around August 19.

For $250 you can have the 8GB 7″ version of the Galaxy Tab 2, along with a keyboard dock and a USB connector. Not a bad bundle if you consider that keyboards for tablets usually run anywhere from $30-$50 by themselves.

Wouldn’t it be nice to see a huge price war between tablet OEM’s at around $200?

The Galaxy Tab 2 pricing will start at $399 for a 16GB and WiFi model, with no real jump in specs over the original Galaxy Tab. It has the same slim design and a dual-core chip running Ice Cream Sandwich. Sammy also took this time to announce the US launch of their new Galaxy Player 4.2 which will sell for $200.

With the Galaxy Tab 2, I get the feeling that Samsung has decided to ditch the high-end and instead shoot for affordability. Basically what I’m saying is that they are trying to compete with the Kindle Fire and not the iPad any longer. It could be the right move after an abysmal 2011 in the tablet game.

In this latest series, they give us 7″ and 10″ tablets, focusing on the low price, expandable storage, and media sharing as selling points rather than specs. From what we know, they both have dual-core processors (OMAP?), decent screens (nothing special though), run Ice Cream Sandwich, have SD card slots, GPS, below average cameras, and connect via WiFi only. At $249 (7-incher) and $399 (10-incher), maybe you won’t care if the camera is hardly usable? As long as you can game at a decent rate and extend your media consumption beyond a phone or TV, they still may be worth a look.

The 7″ model will be available April 22 – 10″ Tab 2 on May 4.

Since Samsung wasn’t ready to announce the Galaxy SIII at MWC this year, they had to at least come up with something. That “something” is the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) and a projector phone called the Galaxy Beam, which we’ll talk about in a bit. For now, let’s focus on this new Tab 2 that should be an epic release after the success and awesomeness that was the original 10.1, right? Eh, not really. The Galaxy Tab 2 is identical to the original 10.1 except that it runs Ice Cream Sandwich and has a slight redesign with speakers in the front. Otherwise, it packs a dual-core processor, 7,000mAh battery, 3MP shooter in the back, VGA shooter in the front, and TouchWiz. We wish there was something else to say about it, but it really is an identical tablet. Not to say that we don’t still love the original 10.1, but come on Sammie, give us something new and brilliant.  

Update:  As reader @tomgillotti points out, there is also a Galaxy Note 10.1 on the horizon that is yet to be announced. It was rumored to be on the way, but with Samsung not confirming it during their Beam and Tab 2 announcement, we weren’t sure if it was real or not. Apparently it is. The difference between that and this tablet is beyond us.

You are looking at Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab 2 that was announced for the UK in March and the rest of the globe some time after. It runs on a dual-core processor, has a 7″ WVGA display (1024×600), supports HSPA+ and WiFi, has dual cameras (3MP and VGA), and runs Ice Cream Sandwich. It’s ultra-portable just as the original Tab was only we’re still trying to figure out why anyone would purchase this over the 7.7 that has been released in most countries. Will it be extremely cheap? It’s Euro price seems to suggest that, however, we won’t know for sure until it launches here in the states. This is one tablet that I just do not understand.

The GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0)’s superb multimedia experience is further boosted by Samsung’s AllShare Play, a new content-sharing service available for the first time on any Samsung mobile device. AllShare Play allows users to play or live-stream their multimedia content on their GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0) from PCs, other Samsung smart devices as well as third-party web storages. Users can also easily transfer content to other devices or directly to web services.

ChatON uses phone numbers instead of ID and passwords, and provides easy instant messaging and group chatting in various formats—images, video, voice, contacts—to make messaging simple and intuitive.
