Quick Tip: Long Press in Flash for Full Screen Videos

by: | posted 06.18.10 | Tips

If you’ve rooted your Droid and installed a Froyo ROM plus one of the Flash 10.1 betas, then we’ve got a little trick for you.  While watching a Flash video on any website, you can long press on it, prompting an option to go to full screen.  As you can see from the sceenie above, the grey box in the top left of the video is what it should look like.  And if you decide you don’t actually want full screen, you even get an “X” to close out.  Sweet right?

Any other Flash or Froyo tips out there that we can’t live without?

Cheers Aleks!

Download: Flash 10.1 Beta 3 for Motorola Droid

by: | posted 06.17.10 | Apps, News

The newest version of the Flash 10.1 beta was released today as build V10.1.72.7 and as you may have guessed, is not available to Motorola Droid users in the market like it is for the Nexus One.  Luckily for us, we have an amazing developer community who uploads just about everything needed to fulfill our dreams.

Haven’t seen a changelog just yet, but we are getting word that switching your phone from portrait to landscape while watching something in Flash works seamlessly and it also loads website and Flash material separately.

Obviously you need to be on Froyo for this to work.  (Guide to rooting and installing Froyo.)

Download: com.adobe.flashplayer-1.apk

Instructions…

1.  Download the apk to your SD card.
2.  Open the app when it finishes, select “upgrade” and let it work its magic.
3.  Enjoy!

Please thank the guys at XDA again for providing the apk.

And drop your thoughts on this new version in the comments.  Is it better?  Worse?  Tricks?  New sites working?

Release: JRummy’s Froyo Kangerade V1.0

by: | posted 06.15.10 | DROID, Root

We’ve been waiting for our boy JRummy to finish up his Froyo ROM and the time is finally upon us.  Please say hello to Froyo Kangerade V1.0 in just about any color you could imagine.  He’s actually ported over all of his REMIX themes into this new Froyo build.  It’s as beautiful as everything that he’s done in the past.  Oh, and this might be the fastest ROM I have ever used…and that’s not a joke.

Color choices…

-Blueberry Flavored Froyo (Blue Theme)
-Daiquri Ice Flavored Froyo (Cyan Theme)
-Key Lime Pie Flavored Froyo (Green Theme)
-Pink Lemonade Flavored Froyo (Pink-Life Theme)
-Strawberry Flavored Froyo (Red Theme)
-Plain Froyo (Stock Theme)
-Froyo with Nex-Theme

Instructions…

1.  Open ROM Manager and choose Download ROM and then JRummy.
2.  Choose the Froyo Kangerade V1.0 Customizer.
3.  Follow each screen you are presented with to customize the Froyo ROM.
4.  Once finished, check the box to make a back up if you do not have a current one.
5.  You can skip “wipe data and cache” if coming from another Froyo ROM.
6.  Allow the phone to boot into recovery and work some magic.
7.  Once it finishes, it will boot back up into Kangerade. Enjoy!

Custom Theme Friday: Black Ice Froyo V1.3

by: | posted 06.11.10 | DROID, Root

We initially had planned on doing a dual-Froyo theme Friday with this new Team Chaos theme and JRummy’s Kangerade, but Rummy’s is still going through some testing so it’s just this one for now. You can bet that we’ll have the Kangerade for you once he gets it finalized though.  With that said, check out the second Team Chaos theme of the week!

Theme:  Black Ice Froyo V1.3 by Team Chaos

Instructions…

*Note 1* - Make sure you have the updated version of ROM Manager.

1.  Open ROM Manager, select Download ROM and then Team Chaos.
2.  Choose Team CHAOS Froyo Themes.
3.  Then check the box for Black Ice Froyo V1.3 and select OK.
4.  When it finishes, check the box to make a backup if you do not have a recent one.
5.  You can skip “wipe data and cache” if already running another Froyo ROM.
6.  Hit “OK” to allow your phone to boot into recovery and work some magic.
7.  When it finishes, it will reboot and you should be Onix Froyo’d!

Release: Bugless Beast Froyo V0.1

by: | posted 06.09.10 | DROID, Root

Finally, after 25 emails and tweets of “Bugless Beast Froyo is out!”  we have a post! Haha.  You guys all really love you some Pete!  Below are a bunch of download links that should work for now.  If you have others, feel free to post them in the comments so that everyone who wants this can get a hold of it.  I’m not currently in a spot where I can upload. Sorry!

*Rooted users only.  Still not rooted?  Follow our full guide here.

This is not in ROM Manager yet, but should be soon.

Download: BBFroyoV01.zip (alt link)  (alt link2)  (alt link3)

Instructions…

1.  Download Bugless Beast Froyo V0.1 from one of the links above to your SD Card.
2.  Open ROM Manager and choose “Install ROM from SD Card.”
3.  Navigate to the folder that has the BB Froyo file you just downloaded and tap on it.
4.  Probably a good idea to check the box to make a backup.
5.  It’s up to you if you want to check the box to “wipe data and cache.”

I came from FRF57 Froyo and this new BB installed just fine.  However, if you run into issues, flash your backup, re-install BB with at least one wipe.

6.  Allow your phone to boot into recovery, work some magic and BAM!  Done!

Feature list after the jump.
