This morning, the developers of Fring pushed out a decently sized update to their Android app. For those new to the name, Fring allows users to video chat with others, much like Google+ and Skype. Fring is popular for its ability to allow group video calls, as well as texting, chat, and more. 

Inside the update you will find a newly improved user interface, a “storyline with all of your previous call and chat history, and a new Address Book Scroller. If you’re a loyal “fringster,” this should float your boat.

This version includes:

• UI improvements, including a new clean, white look & feel (as requested by many loyal fringsters)
• Storyline – showing all your integrated voice, group and video calls and text messages with each contact, in chronological order.
• Address Book Scroller – to see or search all of your contacts, just fring contacts or just favorites
• Improved, richer info card for contacts
• Several bug fixes

Fring for Android Updated – UI Improvements, Storyline, and More is a post from: Droid Life

Fring got a lovely little update which includes “Clearer Voice Calling” and the ability to Group Chat with up to four friends/colleagues. The update also introduces support to newer phones such as the Nexus S, LG G2X, Samsung Droid Charge, and a few others.

• Make free Group Video calls with up to 4 friends
• Improved voice quality
• Now on a bunch of new devices like: HTC Flyer, Samsung Droid charge, Nexus S (Running Android 2.3.4), Samsung Galaxy S 2, LG G2X
• Bug fixes making it stable

Fring Updated, Now Works On The Droid Charge is a post from: Droid Life

Fring introduced a new group video calling feature to a select beta group about 3 weeks ago and are already releasing it to the public for free.  The service allows you to chat with up to 4 friends from all over the world and on a variety of platforms including iOS.

The timing of the release couldn’t have been better, especially with Verizon introducing a couple of new phones that include front-facing cameras, like the DROID Incredible 2.  And I’d ask you to “fring me!”, but I don’t think I can handle that many video chats at once.  Go grab it!

Fring Group Video Leaves Beta, Hits Android Market is a post from: Droid Life

Fring sure didn’t waste any time sending out the beta version of their newly announced group video calling app, did they?  Just yesterday, they invited a limited number of users to test out the app and we just so happened to be one of the lucky few.  We’ll be giving it the proper run-through over the next few days and will report back.  Anyone else receive it?

The Fring team just announced a beta version of their app that will allow you to video call with a group of friends and is inviting you to sign up if you have a video chatting-capable phone.  They plan to invite a “limited” number of people to test this new app out, so cruise over to this form immediately and fill it out before all of the spots are full.  Then be sure to check out the new group video chatting in action below.
