Facebook Home Update Includes a Customizable Lock Screen with Notifications

Facebook Home, the Facebook-made replacement launcher for Android devices, has been controversial (to put it mildly) ever since launch. Many lamented the fact that it wasn’t nearly as functional as other launchers, lacking features as simple as folder creation, usable widgets, and an app dock. Others, concerned about the potential for data collection, warned it could track users’ every move and herald the coming of hyper-targeted advertisements.

Regardless, Facebook Home hasn’t exactly been a runaway success, so the company continues to respond to feedback and tweak the app accordingly. In a recent update, for example, significant (and welcome) changes to the lock screen UI were made. (more…)

Beta Testers: Facebook Home Update Brings Support for Instagram, Pinterest, and More

If you are part of Facebook’s Android Beta program, a new update that is rolling out today allows you to add feeds from Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, and Flickr to your Home lockscreen. When you wake your device, you will be greeted with great content from the folks you follow, then when you’re are done, simply unlock and continue with your day. It’s a good addition, one that Zuckerburg said was coming during his interview at Disrupt.  (more…)

Facebook for Android Beta Updated, Brings Animated Stickers and Music Controls for Home Users

Not too long ago, Facebook introduced a beta program for Android users who want the latest and greatest builds of Facebook on their devices. Today, a new update is available, bringing a few new features and loads of fixes. As for the new stuff, Messenger users will see a few animated stickers, which should hopefully bring a bit of humor to all of your IMs between friends.  (more…)

Facebook Home Updated With Dock Feature, Assuming You Can Install It

Today, Facebook is pushing out an update to Facebook Home, bringing a brand new dock feature, which will allow people to easily select which apps they would like to access more quickly from the homescreen. That’s all fine and dandy, but when we went to try out the lastest update, we found pretty much all previously supported devices, including the previously supported HTC One and Galaxy S4, are no longer compatible.
