Shortly after Google announced their new unified chat service called Hangouts, users discovered a handful of Easter Eggs embedded deep within. Actually, they aren’t deep at all and can be accessed with a simple command in a chat box on either Google+ or through the Chrome app (no mobile version support here). The whackiness of the Easter Eggs’ ranges from colorful ponies to KONAMI cheat codes, all of which are listed above thanks to Googler Moritz Tolxdorff. To tell you the truth, I thought there might be even more, but this is the entire list.

To flood your box with ponies, pitchforks, or a shy dino, type the commands listed into the text box of a Hangout.

Which is your favorite?

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that after some digging, a lucky owner of Google Glass has found a well-placed Easter Egg inside the device’s software. After a check through Settings, then a specific number of taps on the track pad, you are greeted by a full panorama of the Google Glass team. And wouldn’t you know it, Mr. Sergey Brin even makes an appearance.

All of the Googlers are sporting their Glass units, which is certainly a nice touch. What a job it must be.

Google published the rest of their official Google I/O 2013 page today, which we took a minute to poke around on after receiving our press invite this afternoon. I have to admit though, that we weren’t half as clever as other attentive minds of the internet who realized that the front page was interactive and filled with more Easter Eggs than you can probably count.

As you tap on either the I or the O, you’ll see code line up at the bottom of the page. If you click in a series of correct Is and Os, you’ll see a button turn green before shuffling you off to a new page filled with secret, interactive joy (be sure to click on the surprises). If you are wrong, the button will turn red and allow you start over.

The comments over The Next Web are filled with codes, two of which we have used in the images of this post. As to not ruin the rest of the surprises, we’ll leave you to tapping away your own codes to reveal other goodies. Be sure to share them in the comments.

Bacon: 10010000
Bowling: 01110101

The Jelly Bean Easter Egg that we first unearthed back at Google I/O has quickly become one of our all-time favorites. It’s interactive and a great time waster should you find yourself needing to kill 5 minutes without having to think or blink. Who would have thought that flicking Jelly Beans and wondering what’s up with the random Candy Cane could be so fun?

The CyanogenMod team must share similar feelings, as they decided to spend some extra time in CM10 to customize Jelly Bean’s hidden fun. CID’s head replaces the beans, but the flicking is just as addicting as you would expect it to be. It can be accessed in the same way that you would any other Easter Egg in Android – tap multiple times on the Android build number in your device’s About screen, then long press when you see CID’s face.

According to the Nexus Q, it isn’t even sure if you should buy one. Recently reported by Android Authority, there is an Easter Egg tucked inside the Nexus Q app. If you cruise into a specific Nexus Q’s settings in the app, you can tap on the image of the Q and then proceed to a screen that asks if you “Have a dilemma?” From there you can tap the Q again and ask it a question. It works just as a Magic 8 Ball, so don’t expect it to always give a reliable answer.

It’s another awesome goodie that ties in nicely with our unearthing of the Jelly Bean Easter egg. Good work, Google.

Oh that Android Team, such a creative bunch. The Nyan Android is not the only Easter egg tucked away in Ice Cream Sandwich. No sir, a space-inspired “Rocket Launcher” was also included, but can only be found by looking through the available activities on the phone. What I mean by that, is you have to use a 3rd party app like Any Cut or LauncherPro that can turn activities into shortcuts. Once you do, the video above can be achieved.

Tap once to slow the rocket ship, tap an icon to launch it.

We have finally found it! With the release of the Galaxy Nexus just around the corner (for the UK at least) it seems that the easter egg that Google likes to throw into all of their flagship phones has been uncovered for their latest update, Ice Cream Sandwich. If you head over to the system settings and tap on the Android Version like mad you are greeted with a little Andy, pressing and holding him makes him grow larger and larger and then viola; an army of flying Nyan-Andys across your screen. Pretty cool right? Well the fun does not stop there. Android wanted their developers to have in on the fun too.

In the ADT plugin for LogCat, someone requested that the Andy logo be changed to a cat, probably thinking that Google would get a good laugh about it. Well, it’s Google, so they put it in. The logo has now been changed to the same Nyan-Andy just for you developers out there. Who likes these new easter eggs?
