Remember the Motorola Dinara? That was a code name, we first outed all the way back in July of last year, for a phone that was set to be the next big thing from Motorola. The picture above is said to be it, although, we aren’t sure if the source got the codename right, as we have seen an AT&T HD Razr-esque device from Moto codenamed the “Qinara” as of late that better matches up to this picture.

Either way, this is likely what your DROID RAZR HD on Verizon is going to mimic, aside from the RAZR HD having a more RAZR look with angled edges. This phone reportedly has an HD 720p screen, Ice Cream Sandwich with MotoBlur, and on-screen navigation keys. From that benchmark we saw in April, we also know that it has a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor inside.

I have to admit that this version of Blur looks very pretty. Check out the slight transparency to the nav bar and keys so that you can see the wallpaper. How nice of a touch is that? If the RAZR HD follows in these steps, prepare for something amazing.

Motorola may follow HTC’s lead in the processor game going into 2012 according to a new benchmark for a device headed to AT&T. The MB886 (formerly rumored by us to be the Dinara) aka the “Qinara” or possibly even Atrix 3 posed for GLBenchmark this morning, giving us a look at specs for Moto’s next big device.

As you can see from the top, it’s running Android 4.0.3 just like every other new device these days. What’s interesting though, is the chipset used is Qualcomm’s MSM8960 or better known to most as the dual-core Snapdragon S4 clocked at 1.5GHz. This is the same chipset used in the HTC One XL that could arrive on AT&T in the next week, but is surprising because this is Motorola using it. In the past, Moto has stayed close with TI and their OMAP series and even cozied up with NVIDIA for a device or two. This would be a first for them and Qualcomm, to our knowledge.

So why the Snapdragon S4? 4G LTE, baby. Phones in the U.S. on AT&T and Verizon in 2012 will likely only be 4G LTE, so since the current Tegra 3 isn’t playing nice with it, OEMs are going with Qualcomm’s S4 which does.

On a related note, we were discussing the DROID RAZR HD this weekend with our buddy Taylor over at Android and Me, and he is under the impression that it will also rock a Snapdragon S4 for the LTE capabilities it possesses. This benchmark would certainly help that theory.

Lastly, the screen resolution reads 1196×720, so we know this phone will have an HD screen. Since it doesn’t read 1280×720, this could mean that the device either has on-screen keys like the Galaxy Nexus, or it could mean that the GLBenchmark app isn’t ready for ICS and is using that awful menu button at the bottom of the screen which is taking up screen space.

Excited for Moto and Qualcomm to be in bed for a bit? The S4 Krait series of chips is supposed to be remarkably good.

And, whoa. You be looking at Motorola’s next big device, called the DROID HD. We’ve seen this name a number of times before, but up until this morning, had not had even a glimpse at what it may look like. Well folks, here you go. Prepare to be blown away by what could be one of the thinnest devices on the planet – one that makes the Bionic look like a thick tank.

The device is said to have a 4.5″ screen (more than likely HD, hence the name), Android 2.3 (stock?), 8MP HD camera, front camera, and HDMI out. There is also a compartment on the side for loading a microSD and SIM card (suggesting non-removable battery), something that would lead us to believe this phone is 4G LTE. We could probably go ahead and assume it’ll run some next-gen dual-core processor, but those specs were not reveiled. Lock switch on the side; same size as the Bionic with a potentially larger screen.

Update: As one dedicated reader (zepfloyd) pointed out, this indeed sounds exactly like the Motorola Dinara we reported on back in July. Our sources said that the device would have an HD screen, lock switch on the side, would be the same size as the Bionic but with a bigger screen, a non-removable battery, and would be much, much thinner. Yep, I’d say this is it.

Update 2: Just heard from our sources that this is not the Dinara. Hoping to have more details soon.

Most importantly though, this phone is unbelievable thin. Let’s jump through a series of photos that compare it to the Bionic, so you can really get a feel for what the DROID HD may be.

(DROID HD on the right)

Still can’t tell how thin it is next to the Bionic? Check this one out:

And how about another by itself – brace yourselves:

Try and tell me you aren’t blown away by that? We are talking Galaxy S II thin here, unless of course this guy has the biggest hands on the planet. Whatever Motorola has planned for the future though, we are most definitely looking to be a part of it. There is also a shot of that side lock switch.

Here is the side compartment with SIM and SD slot:

And finally, one more comparison to the Bionic:

There is no telling when this device could see the light of day, especially with the Bionic not even in stores yet. We are thinking there is a chance for the holiday season, since Moto CEO Sanjay Jha told us last month that they would have another LTE phone by the end of the year. They could easily have meant on AT&T’s network though, but we’re hoping for Big Red.

I’m officially blown away. Let us know how you are feeling.

There is this empty space for devices in 2011 after the DROID Bionic that needs to be filled, and we haven’t heard a peep about any of it from any of our sources. Well until now. We may have just received word on Moto’s next super or “flagship” phone that is currently scheduled for a winter release and will surely fill up some “space” or at the very least, bring in some good chatter.

We’ve been told that the Motorola Dinara (codename of course) is the next big thing. It’s still under development, but currently has an “HD” screen, 13MP rear camera, VGA front, and an internal/non-removable battery. It will look almost identical to the Bionic in styling, but will end up as a much slimmer and lighter device. It’s running Gingerbread still since no one has Ice Cream Sandwich yet and should be here by this winter. <del>No word on the processor or RAM</del>.

Update: A couple of additional details have been mentioned to us: TI processor, 1GB RAM, bigger screen than the Bionic (same device size, but screen closer to the edge), lock button on the side (a la Samsung), and the internal battery has not been a problem.

There is a chance that it could end up on multiple carriers, but it’s currently being tested on Verizon’s network. We weren’t told if it’ll be 4G LTE or not – how could it not be though?

Oh, and I should point out that “Dinara” is the name of a mountain range, something Motorola has been known to use on their higher end devices. Anyone remember the Olympus, Everest, and Etna?

We’ve definitely flagged this as a rumor, since these things all seem to change oh so regularly. The end of the year is pretty far away in mobile time.

The hypebeast machine has been turned back on.

Cheers ___!
