DEAL: Google Daydream View is Still Just $49, Now at Best Buy Too

Just a reminder that Google’s Daydream View is still discounted to $49 at the moment, a $30 discount. The deal on Google’s VR headset is good until late in February, but we thought we’d point out the fact that Best Buy has finally joined in on the fun. Originally, only Google and Verizon had dropped the price.

While only a few devices are Daydream-ready as of today, you should expect that most in 2017 will be. Taking advantages of deals like this ahead of time is never a bad idea. Then again, others likely have their own similar headsets on the way as well.

Our Daydream View review could help with the decision.  (more…)

These Phones Work With Google Daydream

Google’s Daydream VR experience is still so new that there aren’t many phones that currently work with it. It first launched in November only on the Pixel and Pixel XL, but in recent weeks it has expanded to others, including the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. Of course, in the near future, the list will grow even quicker. By the end of 2017, most flagships phones that launch will likely have all of the necessary components to work with Daydream.  (more…)

DEAL: Daydream View Drops to $49 ($30 Off) (Updated: Verizon Too!)

Own one of the few Daydream-ready phones, but have yet to pick-up Google’s Daydream View? Now is the time! From today through February 25, you can buy a Daydream View from the Google Store for just $49. That’s a $30 discount on the best mobile VR experience you can get.

We reviewed the Daydream View back in November and really did call it “pretty sweet!” The experience tops other mobile VR units because it includes a little motion controller that allows you to interact with games in a way that others don’t. It’s also really comfortable and is getting better each week with new apps and games.  (more…)

Wave of Daydream VR Apps Hits Google Play: Need for Speed, Gunjack 2, HBO Now and More

If you were at all originally concerned that a lack of content would be an issue with Google’s Daydream VR platform, hopefully days like today, where Google pushes out a bunch of apps and games in waves will help. We’re seeing high-end titles like Gunjack 2: End of Shift, Need for Speed, LEGO Brickheadz, and HBO NOW all make their way to the mobile VR world of Android.  (more…)

Google Intros New Colors, Crimson and Snow, for Daydream View

UPDATE: The new Daydream View colors of Crimson and Snow are now shipping and available for purchase.

The Daydream View virtual reality headset from Google is available in two new colors this week, Crimson and Snow. Not so long ago, Google launched the headset in its standard Slate color, but now there’s a couple new options for anyone not feeling that grey color.  (more…)

Google Earth Heads to VR and It’s Awesome

This isn’t necessarily Android-related at the moment, but Google just released Google Earth VR on HTC Vive, and man, it’s pretty awesome. Earth feels like a service that was built years ago in preparation for the arrival of virtual reality, so with a machine like Vive powering it, you can travel across the globe and see some amazing sights, all from your own home.  (more…)

Google Daydream View Review

It’s November 10 and Google’s Daydream View headset is now available for purchase. I’ve been able to spend most of the past week with one to familiarize myself with the virtual reality headset and take in some content, like games and other experiences. As of today, Daydream View may only work with Pixel and Pixel XL, but it’s off to a great start for the mobile VR category.

Let’s take a deeper look in our Daydream View review.  (more…)
