I will admit, it is nice to start talking about custom ROMs for Motorola devices again. After a breakthrough on the unlocking of Moto bootloaders, developers have been hard at work to bring their ROMs to a new line of devices. Today, we are featuring RageHD for the DROID RAZR HD on Verizon, developed by BigDaddyHicks and his team.

This ROM looks to bring a smoother experience to users, with a de-bloated (thank goodness) and zipaligned system, you will be flying though apps. PIE controls have been added for an extra-classy way to control your device, Goo Manager has been installed for easy updates, plus battery tweaks were performed to increase your device’s daily lifespan.

To top it off, there is already a theme available for the ROM called Metallic Blue which is shown above. Pretty snazzy looking.

Features:

Deodexed

Debloated

Zipaligned

Pre-Rooted

Adb Insecured

Adrenaline V3 Boost (Thanks to ImbaWind)

Loopy Smoothness (Scrolling Smoothness Tweak)

Full Init.d Support

PIE Controls (LMT Launcher)

DSP Manager

Goo Manager Updates

Amazing Battery Saving Tweaks

Tons Of Awesome build.prop Tweaks

To download and install, you will need your bootloader unlocked and a custom recovery installed. If you need to do that still, look here on this post. If you are already unlocked and ready to rock, follow the via link below.

Welcome to Custom ROM Friday. Today, we are featuring CleanROM for the Galaxy Note 2 from developer scrosler. There is only so many ways to describe a custom ROM, so who better to sum up their work than the developer themselves? Here is the basic idea behind the ROM - “CleanROM is targeted to the towards the user that wants a stock ROM experience with the ability to choose the features and functions they want, demand performance and expect stability!”

Seems, legit, right? On top of having a completely stable and performance-enhanced build, users are able to choose which add-ons and modifications they want to use. For example, features such as Samsung’s multi-window are beefed up to allow any app to be compatible, as well as the unlocked ability to WiFi tether. As a cherry on top, the developer also threw in some additional ringtones and fonts for the device.

Below we have placed some features that should certainly get some excited, as well as a link to where you can download the ROM.

Notable Features:

International N7105XXDMB6 Jellybean 4.1.2 Base

Multi Window Control to add or remove any app you want!

WiFi Tether Unlocked!

Unsecure boot image with init.d support!

Samsung Find My Mobile capable!

Long Press to skip music tracks with screen off!

Additional Ringtones and Fonts!

Performance and Stability that is nothing short of Legendary!

Yesterday, we took submissions for Custom ROM Friday and got an overwhelming response to check out SynergyROM for the Galaxy S3. SynergyROM brings your basic Galaxy S3 skin look, but with lots of performance tweaks and optimizations such as re-sizable floating windows, Photo Sphere abilities, and other goodies.

A team of developers have worked the ROM to be compatible with Galaxy S3 devices on all four major carriers, so there’s no discrimination going on here. Naturally, if you are interested in flashing any ROM, you will need to be running a custom recovery on your device. Below, we have taken a few of the major highlights of SynergyROM and listed them below.

Features:

Jelly Bean 4.1.2

Fully Deodexed, Zipaligned, Busybox, Superuser, Debloated

Multiwindow with free-floating windows, created exclusively by Team Synergy!

Team Synergy’s custom init.d scripts for insane performance

Blocked Samsung’s “root checker” and screenlogger services

23 notification toggles

4-in-1 reboot menu

Fully rotating homescreens

Wifi Tether app working right out of the box

Customized mounting scripts (see Q&A)

Custom boot animation support

4G and WiFi speed tweaks

Verizon OTAs blocked

Customized SystemUI interface

Tons more tweaks and enhancements

This week, there was an overwhelming cry for us to feature BAMF’s Paradigm v3.1 for Custom ROM Friday. We touched on the original Paradigm last year, but it looks like there has been some major updating going down since then. It is based off of Android 4.2.2, and brings some killer custom features, coupled with great speeds and long battery life. What else could you ask for in a custom ROM?

It is currently available for Nexus devices such as the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, and Nexus 4, but there are murmurs suggesting it is also coming to the Galaxy S3. Below, I have thrown in some of the more awesome features that come baked inside, which should help you decide if you want to go ahead with your flashing. As a quick example, there are some extra LWP’s (I love LWP’s), configurable search soft key, and even a snazzy custom boot animation.

Add-ons:

All stock sound files

Additional live wallpapers not included in AOSP

Enabled extra browser settings

Increased rotation and animation speed and opened up 360 degree rotation

Accurate battery

Custom clock widget from ICS pre-release

Added long press of Recent apps to activate menu key

Configurable Search soft key with option to enable/disable

Custom launcher with search bar removed, 4×5 grid layout, and custom app drawer button

BAMF Add-ons:

Custom boot animation with audio (thanks to gadget! for the logo)

BAMF LTE Widget

BAMF Torch Widget

Configurable Lockscreen with three hotseats, selectable left target, and pull down for Torch

Completely configurable QuickSettings replacing normal settings in Status Bar

Since the departure of Pete Alfonso and updates to his Bugless Beast ROM, folks have been on the search for a new minimal, stock AOSP build that brings smooth operation and vanilla Android feel. We received a few requests to make sure everyone new about a somewhat newcomer to the custom ROM scene called, Shiny.

The developer has been building multiple ROM’s from source, but this is his first published work for the toro Galaxy Nexus. It brings a complete OTA feel to the device, running Android 4.2.2. What will make this different from your stock firmware though is the replacement of the stock browser app with Google Chrome, the ROM is deodexed, comes with custom reboot options in the power menu, and more.

Features:

Stock Android 4.2.2, build JDQ39

Source (AOSP) built kernel (boot.img)

Deodexed

Easily rootable (see information below)

G-Apps (GMail, Play Store, etc.) included in build along with Nexus apps

Stock browser replaced with Google Chrome

Shiny restart options

4.2 wallpapers and sounds included

Updated frequently

Everything works!

If you are not for all of the crazy aesthetic changes that some ROMs bring and you just want a smooth operator (shout out to Sade), then check out Shiny.

For instructions on flashing and finding downloads, head on over to the forum thread by following the via below.

We have an absolute blast going through your personal ROM submissions, so let’s keep it going. Over the past two weeks, we have asked you to provide a link to your favorite ROM that you would like us to feature on the site during Custom ROM Friday. It’s a great way for developers to finally receive some much-deserved recognition for all of that hard work they put into making our devices better, plus it gives other users out there a chance to try out a ROM they might not have heard about.

Here is an example of what we are looking for:

Hey DL brosefs, check out this Custom ROM for the “insert device name here.” You can see details about it at “insert link to forum/thread here” and it’s totally sweet because “insert various reasons why you need to share this ROM with the world here.”

Tomorrow, we will go over any submissions and write up a few to share with everyone.

It’s Friday, Friday, gotta flash ROM’s on Friday! Well, now that you all hate me for getting that stuck in your head, let’s start talking geeky ROM goodness. Today, we are featuring custom ROM’s for the Galaxy Note 2 on Verizon and the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon.

The two ROM’s are Jelly’Beans’ and MMuzzyROM. Both are heavily based in the stock look of Android, which we here at DL can greatly appreciate. So, what makes these ROM’s noteworthy? Let’s start with Jelly’Beans’ for the Note 2. As I mentioned, the ROM gives the look and feel of Jelly Bean, while still retaining the functionality of certain software that Samsung includes on their devices, such as multi-window. By taking it a step further, the developer has enabled all apps to work with that feature, successfully bringing the best of AOSP and TouchWiz together and in perfect unity. You may now kiss the bride.

In terms of other features, there are the popular statusbar customization options for toggles and mods, the developer has removed the annoying location icon from the top bar (thank you!), and a long list of other goodies. To see the full list of ROM features and to download this ROM, check out the thread on XDA here.

Now, onto MMuzzyROM for the Galaxy Nexus toro. We all know there is a countless amount of custom ROMs available for this device – it’s the beauty of owning a “Nexus.” What makes people different is that some want features upon features, while others want a more pure Android, smooth experience without all of the bells and whistles. If you recall Bugless Beast, that ROM was well known for being pure Android with just a few tweaks to make it run very smooth, stable, and fast. And now with Pete gone from the development game, in comes MMuzzyROM.

With this ROM, users can take advantage of an enhanced power menu, quick setting modifications, and native data tethering. In essence, it is a bare bones ROM that brings minimal changes to the device, but plenty of performance tweaks and other small mods. If you are looking for speed and performance, try out MMuzzyROM. You can check out the full list of features and get downloads right on their thread here.

We have Custom ROM Friday back in action, and this is the first week we asked our readers to choose which ROM we feature. We had an overwhelming response and according to your voices, we have chosen to feature CarbonRom.

I flashed Carbon to a Nexus 4 and in terms of changes made to Android 4.2, it’s over the top, but in a good way. The developers added a ton of useful customization options, as well as other performance settings that make the Nexus 4 (or any other device you happen to flash it to) even more of a beast than it already is.

For example, the PIE feature that we have written about before is on board, as well as a kernel that handles over/underclocking with ease. They have added the ability to change all your enabled quick settings in the pulldown bar, and it also has theme capabilities on top of options to change your navigation bar’s colors and enabled buttons.

Note: To flash a custom ROM, your device must be unlocked and running a custom recovery.

Installation instructions:

1. Download the right zip for your device and place it on your internal memory.
2. Download the gapps zip and place that on your internal memory as well.
3. Reboot into custom recovery.
4. Create a nandroid backup.
5. Install the ROM zip file.
6. Flash the gapps zip file following ROM installation.
7. Reboot and enjoy.

With a ROM like Carbon, it is hard to go over every added feature, but I can now see why so many people have been singing its praise. For a quick overview of some fancy features, see the list below.

With the number of devices ever growing, it’s hard for us to keep track of the individual ROM’s and hacks for each phone. At this rate, it’s simply impossible. Back when we all had the OG DROID, life was good. But now, it appears to be time to outsource this task to you, the community. To make sure we are giving you the best the developers have to offer, we are asking that you submit your favorite ROM’s for us to write up on our Custom ROM Fridays.

CRF is a way for us to show device owners the best available work out there in terms of rooting and ROM’ing. If you have a favorite developer that is pushing out some amazing work, I’m sure we would love to hear about it.

To submit a ROM for tomorrow, please place a link and brief description down below in the comments section. It would be great if you gave us just a couple of highlights that people could see and we would know what we’re missing out on.

Here’s a brief example:

*Link to forum thread or download* This ROM is for the Motorola X Phone and it’s great because it allows users to change the color of their notification area and to turn cats into dogs.

Tomorrow, we will go over any submissions and write up a few to share with everyone.
