The day was filled with app updates for some of our favorite apps, with the biggest probably coming from Evernote. The popular note-taking app received its “most requested feature of all time,” Reminders. Users can finally add reminders to notes, set alarms, and pin notes to the top of note lists, so that their lives can either feel complete or on the verge of becoming complete at all times. The Evernote update also improved copy and paste, corrected photo orders, improved shortcuts, and improved Japanese support.

Click here to view the embedded video.

But like I said, Evernote wasn’t the only app to receive an update. Falcon Pro pushed out multi-account support (was previously in beta), improved the look with a flatter UI, introduced a black theme, added column swiping, and transition animations. It’s a solid update that beta testers have been enjoying for a few days.

Chrome Beta received an update as well, along with DashClock. Neither are significant, but wanted to make you aware.

The changelogs for each app are included below.

Evernote:

Reminder: 3 features in 1

Alarms: Set due date and notifications for your notes

Note based to-dos: Mark notes as done

Pin notes: Order Reminder manually or by date

More Reminders features

Create Reminders in any note view and note composer

View Reminders by notebook

Subscribe to Reminders in Shared and Business Notebooks

Improved copy/paste in note view

Improved shortcuts functionality

Improved Japanese support

244052: PDF file isn’t downloading with Flywheel enabled

178893: Multiple new tabs links displayed in tab history when tapping on NTP tabs

Today, Google’s Chrome Beta for Android received a most impressive update through the Play store. Included is the addition of Google Translate, allowing users to instantly translate full webpages to their native tongue, as well as options for controlling and limiting bandwidth consumption through the browser’s settings.

Those two might be the features that have Kellen and myself excited the most, but they have also added an awesome “+” symbol in the top left to bring up new tabs (where has this been the whole time?!), fullscreen support for Android tablets, in addition to “mobile friendly” error pages.

What’s New:

Google Translate: When you come across a page written in a language that isn’t in the same language as your phone or tablet, look for the translation bar

Fullscreen on tablets: Simply scroll the page to dismiss the toolbar

Support for fullscreen API

New graph showing your estimated bandwidth savings when you use the experimental data compression feature

Mobile friendly error pages

By enabling the bandwidth saving feature, each page you visit is optimized by Chrome, allowing for faster page loads (since less data is going back and forth) and you will probably see a huge difference in data consumption if you fancy yourself a hardcore web surfer.

You can go grab the update through Google Play and try it out for yourself.

Chrome beta for Android received an update today that introduced two minor features that actually change the user experience in a semi-major way. For one, as you scroll down web pages, the toolbar will disappear so that you get a fullscreen view. All you need to do is swipe back up ever-so-slightly and it will then reappear, so that you can type in a new search query, change tabs, etc. Second, the omnibox (search box) now holds onto your search queries after you press “enter.” So when search results appear, you can quickly edit or add-on to search queries much easier. Previously, your search queries would show up in the Google Search box of the actual Google website – now they stay in the omnibox.

The rest of the new features and known issues are below.

New features:

Fullscreen on phones – Scroll down the page and the toolbar will disappear.

Simpler searching – Searching from the omnibox will keep your search query visible in the omnibox, making it easier to edit, and show more on your search result page.

Client-side certificate support – You can now access sites that require you to use a certificate and Chrome will allow you to select an installed certificate

Tab history on tablets – Long press the browser back button to view your tab history

Known Issues:

Noticeable lag in text entry on some text fields

chrome://history sometimes show duplicate items

Opening tabs is sometimes slow

Pages may flicker sometimes, especially during navigation

In the newest build of Chrome Beta for Android that was released this afternoon, we finally get password and autofill syncing on mobile. Both are features that have been carried across desktops for some time, but continued to be highly requested for smartphones and tablets, as they eliminate tedious form filling and a need to use your memory. Today is a great day, especially for those of us that have grown tired of re-typing things on mobile that have become automatic on desktops.

We should point out that in order to test out syncing passwords, you’ll need to run the latest Chrome Beta for desktops as well. The feature will roll out in the coming days, so don’t get frustrated if you aren’t seeing it right away.

Google Chrome came out of “beta” back in June, as it had become a stable enough product. But since Google is continuing to create new features for it, they still need a platform to be able to test, similarly to what they do with Chrome for desktops. So today, they introduced Chrome Beta, again, as a way to get new features in your hands and to fix issues much faster.

In the release notes, they mention that this build brings a “slew of updates and improvements” over the stable channel build that you are already running, however, they didn’t provide any specifics. They did go ahead and tell you what’s broken, though, more than likely to keep down the complaints.

Here is the full list of known bugs:
