We just got done hanging with the ARCHOS crew here at CES, and while we were there, we were able to go hands-on with the brand spanking new GamePad. The device sports built-in buttons, triggers, and toggles, all dedicated for gaming centered around a semi-okay display with a resolution of 1024 x 600. The hybrid device is powered by a dual-core processor, quad-core GPU, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of on-board memory which is expandable.  (more…)

Video: Hands-on With the 6.1-inch Huawei Ascend Mate and Ascend D2 [CES 2013]

One of our press stops last night included PepCom, a convention staple that always features many of the latest tech gadgetry from your favorite tech companies. It’s usually outside of whatever convention is going on, but it always pulls in great talent. While a couple of companies weren’t showing off their freshly announced phones and were saving them for the show floor, Huawei was one that had everything on hand.

So since we didn’t have time to go full hands-on with their Ascend Mate and Ascend D2, we took a minute to do just that at Pepcom.  (more…)

Watch Sony’s CES Booth Press Event Live [CES 2013]

At 5:00PM Pacific, Sony will unveil all of their latest gadgets at their CES booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center. They were kinda enough to include a live video stream for those not at the show, and the rest of us not willing to take the extra long trip from Mandalay Bay’s press day to the LVCC.

Most of us are expecting them to announce the two new Xperia devices – the Z and the Z’s brother. Both should have 1080p displays, quad-core Snapdragon S4 processors, 2GB RAM, advanced 13MP cameras, and Jelly Bean.

Once announced, we should have a chance to get our hands on them, so if Sony has grabbed your attention during the last month of leaks, get ready for some action.  (more…)

Huawei Announces the 6.1-inch Ascend Mate and the 5-inch 1080p Ascend D2

Earlier this afternoon, Huawei took the stage for their CES 2013 press event and left after announcing the biggest phone-tablet hybrid device to date, the Ascend Mate, along with the Ascend D2, a device they are calling the “most powerful.” Both devices mark somewhat of a new start for Huawei, or rather, a move towards the main stream. We aren’t sure how consumers will accept this Chinese company, but with the work they have done with these two phones, people should at least give them a look.  (more…)
