A white version of the Nexus 4 has been on our radar since the phone was first introduced back in October of last year. At that time, retailers like Carphone Warehouse were listing a white version as being available soon, though there were no pictures at the time to prove such a version existed. Then January arrived, and some lucky soul was able to spend a few minutes of quality time with white Nexus 4. Boy, was it pretty. But since then, we have yet to see it surface again, nor have we been given a release date. 

As of today, the situation hasn’t changed, however, we do have another ounce of proof that a white version is in the making. Retailer Videotron is now selling (or at least displaying) a white Bumper for the device. Sure, you could buy a white bumper for the black version of the phone just like you would with a case, but we’re taking the other approach in thinking this was created to be paired with the actual white phone.

The white Bumper doesn’t appear to be available through Videotron’s website, but if you live in Canada near one of their stores, feel free to stop by and see if you can’t pick one up.

This morning, we took a quick look at the new Ringke Fusion case for the Nexus 4 from Rearth. It’s called “fusion” because it fuses together a clear PC back plate and a TPU bumper to give the Nexus 4 protection while allowing the beautiful Crystal Reflection backside to continue to shine through. That post left readers with plenty of questions, most of which had to do with how it compared to other popular cases like the Ringke Slim, Spigen Ultra Thin Air, and the official N4 Bumper.

Since the official Bumper for the Nexus 4 is once again “temporarily out of stock” in the Google Play store, we figured it was the perfect time to give two of them away. Thanks to the device having both a front and back made of glass, protecting it has become something that almost every N4 should think about. I’m living proof that even someone who babies phones can manage to crack and scratch the hell out of this one with little work.

When the bumper case for the Nexus 4 went back on sale earlier in the week, I caved in and bought one. After having a well-documented, not-so-awesome time with the glass on my first Nexus 4, I decided that this time around I would do everything in my power to protect the second one. So, bumper case we go. The most surprising part about it may be the fact that it arrived already, as in, a day and a half after ordering it. Not bad.

So what do I think? Well, it provides just the right amount of protection. You can set the phone face down or face up and the bumper’s lip should keep both surfaces off the ground/table/naked body. It’s minimal enough that it shouldn’t get in your way or make the phone feel too bulky in hand. But most importantly, it allows you to still see that beautiful Crystal Reflection backside. Mmmhmm.

Is it worth $20 plus the $6 in shipping? If you have already broken one glass back, it probably is.
