Who is ready for a contest? Thanks to our friends at Cruzerlite, we have 10 of their Bugdroid Circuit TPU cases to hand out to 10 lucky DL readers. They supplied us with a handful for the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 (cult!), and even the Nexus 4, so this contest should cover the majority of you.

For those not familiar with Cruzerlite cases, they tend to be made of TPU (a pliable plastic), are easy to get on or off of your device (still offer a snug fit), provide ample protection from drops, and contain all of the cutouts needed for your phone to continue to function.

Cruzerlite has pumped out some of the more Android-friendly cases over the last couple of years, with this design being the perfect example. Be sure to check out the rest of their lineup in case the Circuit isn’t meeting your needs. They also offer up Android accessories, like plushies, beanies, and more – a one-stop shop for enthusiasts.

Fanboys, let’s do this!

Remember the Android-inspired LEGO kit that we first featured back in August? You know, the one that needed 10,000 supporters in order for LEGO to even consider making it an official product? It finally reached its goal and is under review by LEGO.

The BugDroid LEGO project was submitted through LEGO’s Cuusoo site, which is a place for creative types aspiring to be the next LEGO superstar to submit ideas. Once an idea is submitted and then hits its goal, the LEGO team at Cuusoo reviews them, decides if they’ll be popular enough to go mainstream and eventually become available in stores. If you submit a project and it gets accepted, they will also pay you a 1% royalty.

At this point, there is no certainty that this project will be made available publicly. LEGO appears to do seasonal reviews of projects that have hit their supporter limits, so it’ll likely make a Spring or Fall list of projects to be looked at.

We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.

Last night on Google+, Android engineer Dan Morrill shared the four colorful little robotic creatures that I have included in this post, along with their backstory. The short form of the story goes like this – these were the original, yet unofficial Android mascots which were at some point dubbed “Dandroids.” While their internal history leaves them some fame, their lives were brief.

Dan walked through the entire tale, talking about the days leading up to the public launch of Android, needing some sort of funny graphic to include with a presentation, and settling after a couple of hours of Inkscape work on these four characters.

As you all know now, Bugdroid is the official mascot, but there was a brief moment in the life of Android where Mr. Yellow Muscles and his three pals were on the short list.

Care to share your favorite?

A very creative person over at LEGO’s CUUSOO site, has posted a project that simply warms our hearts. Through the LEGO Digital Design site, GLHTurbo was able to order the parts needed, then create a strikingly awesome looking Bugdroid character. “I did some searching and couldn’t find any really good Android Lego builds so I decided to build one myself,” he explained on the project’s homepage.

The CUUSOO site is for individuals to post their ideas that they think LEGO should mass produce. If a project gains enough supporters (like Kickstarter minus the money), then the company green lights it. According to the creator, it took 205 bricks (with custom Android paint) costing about $30 to build in total. Completely worth it.

To support the project and to make sure LEGO sees it, all you have to do is create an account or sign in using Facebook and explain how much you would pay and how many you would buy. It’s not a commitment to buy, but it gives the company an idea if it would be successful for them or not.

Would you buy one of these adorable Bugdroid kits if they were made available to the masses?
