HTC Vigor Spotted on Dutch Phone Site, Specs and Possible Pic Included? (Updated)

Update:  Definitely a fake screenshot.  And we know for sure since we have the actual first photos of the device here.

The HTC Vigor may have made its first semi-public appearance today through a Dutch phone retailer site called The Phone House.  As you can see in the picture above, the phone (although it could be a placeholder), looks a heck of a lot like a mash-up between the Sensation 4G and the Thunderbolt – the device it is rumored to be replacing.

This site is also giving us a set of specs that match up exactly to what we reported on at the end of last week.  The device could sport a 4.3″ HD screen, Android 2.3.4, Sense 3.5, 8MP camera, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and come pre-loaded with Beats by Dre technology.  A true beast.

Let’s be honest though, there is also a chance that this image is fake since the page can no longer be accessed from The Phone House’s site.  Either it was removed, or someone just felt like using our reported specs to be an internet troll.

What do you guys think of the look?  And with HTC preparing to unlock bootloaders on a variety of devices, how can this not be on your list of next possible devices?

Thursday Poll: What Does HTC’s Partnership With Beats by Dre Mean to You?

The new partnership between HTC and Beats Electronics just seems like such a fun gathering of two of today’s most popular tech companies.  Beats by Dre headphones have this massive following with the youth, and HTC’s phones are selling in record numbers almost every quarter.  With these two aligning themselves, the level of media and audio combined on a smartphone won’t be equaled by anyone else, and that should get you excited.  Whether you think Beats headphones are of the highest quality or not, you should be at least a little thrilled that a company of HTC’s magnitude is looking to upgrade the audio of their handsets – something we hope catches on with other handset makers.

Clearly we’re excited about this deal, but what are your thoughts?  You ready to see a Beats logo at bootup?  (Something the Vigor should have)  Are you now hoping that other audio companies come forward and look to form partnerships with another phone manufacturer, like say Samsung?

Let us know!

HTC and Beats by Dre Make It Really Official with Video Promo, Integrated Devices Coming This Fall

HTC took us through a bit of a whirlwind yesterday when they announced that they would be making a “major” announcement this morning, followed by rumors that that announcement would end up having to do with their partnership with Beats by Dre.  It all quickly became official after the Beats crew dropped us a line through Tumblr, but now it’s 100% on thanks to the press release from HTC and this sweet promo video.

While we’re not going to give them a thumbs up for going with the Black Eyed Peas in this spot, we will give them props for making one heck of an Android partnership that should help propel this platform that we love even further.  No other phone manufacturer on the planet has anything even close to this.

Oh, we should also point out that the two companies have been working together behind the scenes for some time and are planning to release their first Beats integrated devices this fall.  HTC Vigor with Beats anyone?  Sign me up.

Video and presser after the jump.   (more…)

And that HTC Announcement for Tomorrow, More than Likely Their Acquisition of Beats by Dre (Updated)

HTC is expected to announce something fairly big tomorrow, but up until the last hour or so, no one had a clue as to what it could be and was simply guessing.  Well, according to a couple of reports now, they could reveal their new acquisition/partnership with Beats Electronics – a company many of you know as Beats by Dre.  There is no telling how they plan to incorporate their reported 51% share into their phones, however, most of us would assume their products will either be branded as “Beats Equipped” or come with a set of headphones.

We tweeted the rumor an hour or so ago and have seen some pretty mixed reactions from readers.  All I can say, is that this type of acquisition/partnership has the potential to make HTC phones sell at an even greater pace and quickly bring them into the public eye.  Whether you think Beats by Dre headphones sound good or not, the fact that the brand is so recognizable these days with the youth is what makes this a big deal.

Update:  The Beats crew just made it official on their Tumblr….

Dear Beats Army:

Today marks an incredible day for sound and Beats by Dr. Dre.  We are announcing a partnership with HTC, one of the world’s leading wireless manufacturers. With this announcement, our two brands are coming together to redefine the smart phone category and redefine the way that sound is heard.

Over the past year, Beats by Dr. Dre has continued to evolve from a headphone company to a  cultural movement that is redefining the way sound is heard. We have strived to take studio-quality music into the hands of you, our consumers, across the globe.  This partnership with HTC represents the next phase of our vision, placing the utmost importance on giving smart phone fans the opportunity to hear the highest-quality of sound possible.  The Beats team, still led by Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine, will continue to manage Beats autonomously.

There will be a lot more exciting news to come and we will continue to keep you on top of all of the wonderful things happening within the Beats World. This is truly an incredible chapter for Beats and we are proud to have you with us.  Let’s Go!
