CES 2015 Starts Sunday: A Quick Preview

CES 2015 starts on Sunday. Seems a little crazy that it’s back already, I know, but that’s what we get during the second week of every new year – a trip to Las Vegas. As you can imagine, we are headed into the desert once again to see what major electronics manufacturers have in store, even if there is very little focus on mobile or Android these days. The show is still a big enough deal that we need to at least show up to find out.

Keep in mind that the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) isn’t what it was four or five years ago. There was a time that it was a really big deal for mobile enthusiasts. It once was a show where new flagship phones were announced from all of the big players, but those show up less and less anymore. Now, we typically get one from Sony, maybe another from LG, and that’s about it. There are wearables and tablets galore, most of which are terrible products from companies you have never heard of that you would never buy, but they have their moment in the news cycle.

Media outlets put up big stages, try to tell you that this week is going to be “Huge!” and that you must tune into their ridiculously over-the-top coverage because it will be the best CES yet, but they are lying. CES is mostly boring these days. Well, unless you like TVs and the technology that goes into cars. Yes, TVs and automobiles now dominate CES.  (more…)

Asus Teases New ZenFone for CES, Wants You to “See What Others Can’t”

Asus is one of them. Through their Facebook page, they teased a new entry into the ZenFone world with a video that wants the world to “see what others can’t see.”  (more…)

Video: Asus ZenWatch vs. G Watch R and Moto 360

After running through a quick unboxing of the Asus ZenWatch, it only made sense to follow up with a comparison video of Asus’ premium Android Wear device to the other two smartwatch champions of the moment, the LG G Watch R and Moto 360. Each is outfitted in premium materials, like metals and leathers, but each is certainly different in its own right, whether that be through the quality of those materials used or its price tag.  (more…)

Asus ZenWatch Unboxing and Tour!

The Asus ZenWatch, an Android Wear device that is arguably the prettiest of them all, is in house and ready for us to dive into. But before we get to a full review, we first need to introduce you to it through an unboxing and tour.

At $199, the ZenWatch is one of the better deals in smartwatches, though it does lack some features that others boast, like a heart rate monitor. But if you are simply looking for a well-made, premium watch to wear on a daily basis, this may be one to keep on your short list.  (more…)

Asus ZenWatch Now on Google Play, Listing as “Coming Soon”

The Asus ZenWatch made its way to Google Play this morning, except you can’t buy it yet. The device is currently listed at $199, but with a “coming soon” tag attached.

After going on sale at Best Buy November 9, we were wondering if the Asus-made wearable would join its Android Wear brothers and sisters on Google’s store. We now have an answer. Google hasn’t mentioned if or when it will be available for purchase, but I can’t imagine it won’t be in the near future. We’ll let you know if its status changes.  (more…)
