ASUS Announces ZenWatch 2, Comes in Two Sizes With IP67 Rating

At the annual Computex exhibition for manufacturers, taking place in Taipei, ASUS unveiled the ZenWatch 2. Running the latest Android Wear software, the ZenWatch 2 will come in a variety of finishes, along with a large collection of straps. To start it off, the ZenWatch 2 will come in two sizes, presumably for big and small wrists, with Stainless Steel casing in either Rose Gold, Silver, and Gunmetal.

When compared to last year’s ZenWatch, there are only a few major differences, but it is clear that ASUS thought quite hard about how they could make the design and usability much better. To start, ASUS added in a dedicated Power button on the side of the device, with ASUS stating that it allows for users to interact with their device in an all-new way.  (more…)

ASUS ZenFone 2 Unboxing and First Look!

Even though I’m still fully in love with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and hate to put its pretty glass body down on a table for more than a few minutes because I always need to be touching it, something about this newish trend of super cheap phones with decent specs has finally caught my attention. I feel like I need to invest some portion of my life into the bargain bin to see if life can continue without a hiccup. Or maybe it’s that there is too much value to be had out there for me not to experience it.

And with that random thought, enter the ASUS ZenFone 2 into my pocket. Yes, we have one in house!  (more…)

Android Wear 5.0.2 Rolling Out to Most Watches (Updated)

Update:  Most Android Wear devices, like the G Watch, G Watch R, Gear Live, and ZenWatch all appear to be receiving this update. Not much is standing out in terms of new stuff. If anything, your watch should be more stable.

An Android 5.0.2 update is rolling out now to Moto 360 units as build LWX49L. At least one of our readers has already received the update, which Motorola says updates Google Play Services and adds a “variety of system optimizations and security updates to improve performance stability.” This appears to be a bug fixers rather than a feature-introducer.

To check for the update on your device, head into Settings>About>System updates.  (more…)

Deal: Unlocked ASUS Padfone X With Tablet Dock for $199 (Updated)

Update:  Deal over.

ASUS’ Padfone line is a concept that I wish saw more success or acceptance in the US. A high-end phone that docks into a tablet shell to make an on-demand tablet? What’s not to like? Unfortunately, late or non-arrivals of the Padfone line have left it all but a lost cause here in the States, even if it did have promise.

With that said, the Padfone X, which is the latest high-end version built specifically for AT&T, can be had today from eBay for $199, which includes the tablet dock. The original product retailed around $549, so calling this a steal is a bit of an understatement.  (more…)
