Verizon’s Galaxy S4 is now receiving Android 4.3 in a brand new update that went live moments ago. The update was approved this morning, bringing along Galaxy Gear Support, band 4 LTE, and some other tweaks along with the most current version of Android (for the time being) to Samsung’s 2013 flagship. We’re as surprised as anyone to see this update arrive first on a Verizon phone before any other carrier, but you won’t find us complaining.
To download the update head into Settings>More>About phone>Software update.
Cheers djgrundel, Patrick, and Scott!
Samsung confirmed to us this morning that Android 4.3 updates for the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2, and Galaxy S3 would begin rolling out to U.S. variants as early as today. Since we received a screenshot of the potential timeline for those updates to happen from each carrier, with one showing Verizon’s GS4 variant receiving the update today, we have been on the lookout for clues. We think we found it on one of Samsung’s support pages for the VZW Galaxy S4. The update may be rolling out today after all. (more…)

T-Mobile customers sporting an HTC One have been given a little bit of a runaround as of late, when it comes to their Android 4.3 update. It was previously reported by HTC corporate that the update would go live before the end of this month, but that info conflicted with what was said by HTC’s US president, who said it was coming this week. According to reports from Europe and SamMobile, Samsung is currently pushing out the official Android 4.3 update to the international Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505), with a ton of new features included inside. Once this update goes live for all, the GS4 and the Note 3 will be the only two devices able to support the wearable. (more…)
After this morning’s mega-leak of Android 4.4 “Kit Kat” and the Nexus 5, we decided to do some comparison shots of the leak to the most current version of Android 4.3 running on a Nexus 4. If the differences weren’t immediately clear in that other post, this should help you see it all. From the new transparent background of the navigation buttons and notification area, to the new icons (and some missing) in the app drawer, there are actually quite a few changes. Sure, they are mostly subtle, but damn do they look good. (more…)
The Android 4.3.1 (JLS36I) factory image and binaries for the Nexus 7 LTE (2013) have been posted by Google. This update began rolling out earlier in the week and remains mostly a mystery. But if you want the images to get you back to a 100% factory state, you now have the opportunity.
The Android 4.3.1 update has yet to rollout out to any other Nexus device.
