If you had plans of picking up a new Galaxy S4 from Samsung soon, now would be a good time to look into buying a “protection plan” for it in the form of a new case. We have always been a big fan of Ringke cases, especially for the Nexus 4. The Rearth Ringke Slim case is now on sale through Amazon, listed at just $3, a total of $20 less than the list price.

They also have their Fusion cases and regular hard cases on sale starting at $8, so definitely give it a peek if rolling around with a naked device isn’t how you roll.

The 8.9″ Fire HD sports a crisp 1920 x 1200 display, 10 hours of battery life, access to all of Amazon’s digital content, and now sports 4G LTE. These devices were first available back in September of last year, so excuse me if I don’t sound overly excited for this announcement.

According to sources of DigiTimes, Amazon is definitely dropping a cellphone this year, with a reported 4.7″ display. Previous reports indicated that the screen size would be around 4.3″, but with demand for larger displays going up, Amazon has changed up their plans. The source, which works somewhere inside the long list of supply chains, states that Amazon is looking to push the device to market sometime in Q2 if all goes well during manufacturing.

The smartphone would be much like a Kindle, running a forked version of the Android OS, made to run Amazon’s proprietary software, well-connected to all of their services. What is still completely unknown is if the device will be sold only through Amazon’s channels or if they will look to partner with a national carrier. You will be happy to hear that rumors place the device’s price to that of roughly $100 to $200.

Are we interested?

Within the last day, Amazon dropped their price for the HTC DROID DNA significantly, making this one of the better steals for a smartphone you’ll find. If you want to add a line to your family account or are a new customer to Big Red, you can grab the DNA and its 1080p display for $49.99. If you are a current customer with an upgrade, you can snag HTC’s latest and greatest for $99.99.

We reviewed the DNA when it first came out and came away mostly impressed. The display is the best in the business (for now), it has an above average camera depending on who you talk to, surprisingly excellent battery life, and a simple design that can still “wow” your friends.

Verizon is still selling it for $199.99 on contract.

Class 10 microSD cards are something that should be on most of your lists of “must have” smartphone accessories. Well, assuming your phone can take them since many manufacturers have decided that the hot trend of the moment is to remove slots for them. But if your phone does have an SD slot for expandable storage, there is nothing like having a ultra-fast card for dropping media or ROMs on in seconds.

Amazon, today, has dropped SanDisk Class 10 32GB and 64GB microSD cards by 66% (23.99) and 53% ($46.99), respectively. If you already own one and need something else, like a regular SD card for your point and shoot camera, those have been dropped as well. In fact, the 64GB Class 10 regular SD card is 72% off. Not a bad deal.

Remember, that not all phones can support 64GB cards. The Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are a couple that do.

While the actual size may be a bit much for me, Tim has been using the Verizon version daily for some time now and continues to rave about it. It’s combination of power, beauty, and features make it a tough phone to deny.

This morning, Amazon dropped the price of the DROID RAZR MAXX HD to $99 on-contract for new lines and new accounts. If you want to upgrade to it, it’ll run you $149. Either way, it’s still a hell of a lot cheaper than the $299 on-contract price that Verizon is still listing it at.

We reviewed the RAZR MAXX HD back in October and are clearly fans of it. While its specs and performance may not match up to the Note 2 or DROID DNA, it crushes them all in battery life. In fact, we took MAXX HDs to Vegas with us to cover CES because at most conferences, you are almost always needing to plug in your phone or find the nearest charger multiple times a day. With the MAXX HD, I never once ran into a battery issue even after a half-dozen live blogs, a bunch of photos taken, and regular usage. It’s a beast, that’s for sure.

After we reviewed the DROID DNA by HTC, it was easy for us to call it one of the best Android phones on the market. With a class leading 1080p display, 2GB RAM, a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, and reasonable $199 price tag, there were/are few phones that can match up to it. What if you could get it for under $199, though?

Amazon has dropped their prices for the device to a low $99 on 2-year contract for new customers and $149 for upgrades. The upgrade price isn’t a steep cut from Verizon’s price, but it’s still a cut. If the DROID DNA has been on your radar, now would be a good time to think about jumping on it.

The Nexus 4 in both 8GB and 16GB variants has been sold out in the U.S. (potentially the globe too) for what seems like an eternity. LG doesn’t think there are supply issues, Google clearly does. All I know is that there are more than a handful of Android enthusiasts who want this phone and have had no chance to pick it up. Well, unless they want to pay out top dollar.

Take this listing on Amazon for example. The 8GB version, which normally runs $299 from Google, can be had for $494.99. I don’t think I need to do the math here, do I? If you are desperate though, you better hurry as they only have 20 or so in stock.

Or as some have pointed out, you may want to check your local T-Mobile store.

If you’re the owner of a brand new LG television equipped with Google TV, you’re in luck! Amazon has released an official Amazon Instant Video app for 2012 LG models only, kind of leaving the rest of us out in the cold. The app brings a fantastic user interface to buy and watch movies/shows from, as well as look through your watchlist and closed captioning options.

According to Google, we can expect more Google TV devices to be supported soon, but no time frame was given. My guess? Well, let’s shoot for, “many moons” from now.

We’re days away from 2013, so as we inch closer, the deals for our favorite apps, accessories, or phones are starting to creep in. The first notable sale we noticed, was one through Amazon and their Appstore. While I probably haven’t used the service in over a year, I fully understand the importance of its “Free App of the Day” deal, which is highlighted in a “Greatest Hits” section for the time being.

What you’ll find in here, is list of important apps from the last couple of years that people downloaded like crazy. If you happened to miss one, you can grab any or all of them for free, some of which are normally priced at $15. On the list, we have apps like Splashtop Remote, OfficeSuite Pro, TuneIn Radio Pro, Gravilux, Radiant HD, and more.
