Today, Amazon has pushed an update to both their online Cloud Player and MP3 mobile applications. To say the updates are major is almost an understatement. For starters, you can now use Amazon’s scan and match feature that will make uploading your library to the cloud much faster, as well as the ability to add past MP3 purchases to the Cloud for free. The new feature that most music lovers will be happy about is that Amazon now offers to turn your library of music (as long as they have it) into high quality 256 Kbps audio files. Yes please.

New features include:

Import your music to Cloud Player faster with scan and match technology

Upgrade your music to high-quality 256 Kbps audio

Add your past Amazon MP3 purchases to Cloud Player automatically…for free

Edit song and album information

Import more types of music files

The updates are live now, so for anyone that has their music stored on the Cloud Player, go get your free high quality files!

Google finally made their new Google Music store official back in mid-November. As a service accessed through the Android Market, it essentially completed the media experience for Google. You can buy apps, books, movies and now music right from your mobile devices or via the web. While it lacks one of the major music labels, it has at least 3 of the big 4 and offers plenty of deals and discounts to make it a legitimate option for music buyers. What we want to know though, is if this has become your go-to source. As in, have you ditched iTunes or Amazon for nothing but Google? Are still sticking with something else? Or are you a bargain shopper that finds the best deal amongst the three?

Amazon MP3 is back in the picture, this time with a color scheme that matches the Kindle Fire and lockscreen controls for Ice Cream Sandwich devices. As one of the top MP3 stores on the planet, you still can’t beat most of Amazon’s prices when it comes to full albums. Google Music has attempted to step on its turf by offering up Valentine’s Day specials and other promos, but even I’ll admit that Amazon’s rock bottom pricing is tough to pull away from. This update is a welcomed addition to the experience.

A couple of all time favorite apps are receiving updates in the Android Market right now. Astro File Manager, one of the longest running file managers out for Android is adding themes and icon sets into their application. No need to fear though, if you like the classic look of Astro, the “Classic Astro” theme will make everything look nice and familiar for you.

The Amazon MP3 app also has an update waiting for you, one that promises compatibility with the Galaxy Nexus and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in general. They also threw in the ability to move to SDcard, but only if it is not factory installed on your device. There are a few other bug fixes, but it is a solid update in general.
