Verizon’s HTC One M7 is getting its Android 5.0 Lollipop update today, at least according to a full changelog posted to the company’s support site. The update arrives in two parts, but finishes on 6.21.605.3 when all is said and done.
After the update, users will see Lollipop’s fun, including new notification panel behaviors, an all-new quick settings pull-down, notifications on the lock screen, more control over which apps can send you notifications, new Rolodex-styled recent apps, more power with Android Beam, and more. HTC also tossed their HTC EYE experience into the camera. (more…)
The OnePlus One has turned a year old, and to celebrate, the manufacturer that “Never Settles” is slashing the price of their device, by a single dollar. While that may not seem very cool at all, the OnePlus is already priced starting at $299, which leaves very little margin for the company to profit from.
With this “price cut,” the company states, “Slashing the price by just $1 is a symbolic gesture, showcasing our commitment to delivering amazing hardware at cost, and ultimately making it more accessible for more people.” (more…)
The follow-up to the OnePlus One will arrive in Q3, at least according to a report out of Bloomberg. During a short feature on the Chinese start-up, casual references to the OnePlus Two (yes, that’s the name) launching in the third quarter along with a cheaper model that will arrive before the end of the year, were dropped. That of course comes on the heels of random rumors suggesting a new phone from OnePlus may not arrive until some time in 2016. How silly do those sound now? (more…)
Hopefully, you didn’t flash that OxygenOS thing that OnePlus called an “OS” the other week, because Cyanogen 12 is now available and rolling out to all OnePlus One owners starting today (well, yesterday it started). After a slight delay, if we can even call it that, the update brings Android 5.0 Lollipop and a whole bunch of new customizations to a phone that cracked our top 5 phones of 2014. (more…)
Over the weekend, OnePlus released their custom Android skin, also known as OxygenOS, to the OnePlus One as an “update” just a week after it was originally supposed to debut. I’m putting “update” in quotes there because well, it’s not really an update. This is a custom ROM that requires a full factory reset and a custom recovery in order to get onto your phone. This isn’t delivered over-the-air (OTA) – instead it requires you to be familiar with adb commands, fastboot, unlocking a bootloader, and more. It’s a load of fun! (more…)
A week ago, OnePlus issued an apology after delaying the release of their OxygenOS update to the One. Today, the update is now available for download. Unfortunately, there is both good and bad/time-consuming news here.
The update introduces Lollipop to the OnePlus One, along with OnePlus’ take on an Android skin, which like other OEMs are calling an “operating system.” There isn’t much of a feature list to report back on at the moment, but OnePlus has said that there are gestures built-in to areas like the lock screen, customizable quick settings toggles, and a file manager. While that list may not seem like much, Lollipop is really all you should care about, OnePlus One owners. (more…)
As most OnePlus One owners have already noticed, the company is not shipping out the CM12 OTA, as certification issues have forced them to put it on hold. As we found out earlier in March, certification is what also held up the release of OxygenOS. (more…)
OnePlus One owners, the wait for Lollipop may soon come to an end. In a post on its forums, OnePlus has finally set official dates for the updates, including a release timeframe for its own OxygenOS.
According to OnePlus, the official CyanogenMod 12S OTA update for the OnePlus One will be released on or before March 30, 2015, and the company’s in-house OxygenOS will be available for download on or before March 27, 2015. (more…)
