Accessory Review: kuel f60Q Mobile Battery Charger

by: | posted 01.25.12 | Accessories, News

A portable battery charger is something that almost everyone should own in this day and age. With LTE radios and massive HD screens sucking the life out of our phones in just a few hours at times, you may need quick on-the-go power on a regular basis. There are a variety of options out there, but after having the kuel f60Q for a few weeks now, I can easily say that this should make your short list of portable chargers to consider.

First, it’s pretty damn stylish for a portable charger. Some of the options we have seen in the past tend to be massive black tanks that you would be embarrassed to pull out in public. The kuel f60Q looks clean, minimal, and might even impress your friends at an LTE hand-holding spritzer party.

Rumor: Samsung Will Not Announce the Galaxy SIII at MWC Next Month After All

by: | posted 01.25.12 | News, Rumors

A variety of sources reported within the last couple of hours that Samsung may not introduce their next flagship device, the Galaxy SIII, at Mobile World Congress in February after all. No specific details were given as to why they would delay such an anticipated launch, but insiders told The Verge that they should at least expect it to be out “before summer.” Disappointing, to say the least.

Could this have anything to do with Samsung looking to push a worldwide launch this time around? As you all know, the Galaxy SII was introduced at last year’s MWC yet failed to make its way to the States until the fall. Much of the rest of the world had had the devices for months by that time. With the Galaxy SIII, many speculated that Samsung would try to make the devices available everywhere at the same time, rather than the slow rollout that we all experienced with their first couple of Galaxy series devices.

Samsung is still expected to have some sort of presence at MWC even if they have chosen to move an SGS3 announcement.

Producteev Hits Android Market, Syncs Up Your Tasks Across Multiple Platforms

by: | posted 01.25.12 | Apps

Let me introduce you to Producteev, the latest task manager to hit Android with its official release today. This task manager is a bit different from the other ones in that you can find it on almost any device that you own. Got a Windows machine? They have an app. Their app is also in the App Store for iPhone and the Mac App Store as well. With all these different platforms, the big push is tasks in the cloud that you can add to one place and have them appear in another. The app is a little more diverse in allowing you to create different workspaces for different types of tasks and even lets you sync with other people, allowing one person to assign a task to a group of people so this could be used in an office or work setting very easily.

Installation of the Mac app was easy and signing up is a breeze. As soon as I figure out how to sync this with my Google Calendar (a feature that it says it does) I am going to take a serious look at this. I have needed an app to remind me to take the trash out for a while now. Head on over to the Android Market and see if it will help yourself.

Motorola Sues Apple in Florida Court for Patent Infringement, iPhone 4S One of the Targets

by: | posted 01.25.12 | News

Motorola took its battle with Apple to a Florida court today, claiming that a couple of the Cupertino giant’s products including the iPhone 4S infringe upon six of of their patents. The patents involve technologies that utilize wireless antennae, software, data filtering and messaging. This suit follows up Moto’s win in German courts last month, a case that could force a ban on iPhones and iPads in the country.

Lytro Camera Technology in Smartphones? Yes, Please.

by: | posted 01.25.12 | News, Videos

If there was one new tech invention of the last year that will actually change the game and can blow the minds of even non-techies, it is easily the Lytro camera. Not familiar with Lytro? I’ll do my best to sum it up.

The Lytro camera takes “living photos” that can be manipulated well after they have been taken. And when I say “manipulated,” I’m not talking about some Photoshop trickery or a hipster filter. I’m talking about refocusing it on a different area over and over again. This camera captures the entire light field “which is all the light traveling in every direction in every point in space” or dimension. The camera itself takes instant photos with no shutter lag and no need to deal with an autofocus. Since the focusing happens on objects of your choice after the photo has been taken, you don’t have to worry about it during the shot. So, you get insanely fast photos and the perfect shot that you decide on afterwards. Make sense?
