<p style="text-align: left;">Here we are again at the end of another great week at Droid-Life. We&#8217;ve been pumping work around here showing you how to get all rooted Froyo goodness (Rooting instructions <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/2010/09/09/how-to-root-motorola-droid-running-android-2-2-frg22d/">HERE</a> and <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/2010/09/09/another-android-2-2-frg22d-rooting-method-for-the-motorola-droid/">HERE</a>). Follow those instructions and join us in our journey to trying out the coolest and slickest ROM&#8217;s available for our Original Bad-Boy (aka Droid-1, aka OG Droid, the Godfather, etc etc).</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">So let me run this down. Incognito has been ported to the <a href="http://forum.droid-life.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&amp;t=232&amp;p=2101&amp;hilit=shadowrom#p2101">ShadowROM</a> and looooks fantastic! <a href="http://forum.droid-life.com/viewforum.php?f=31">BGill55</a> is a master of this stuff. We&#8217;re talking all widgets, and even icons for ADW. Just look at these pics. If you like black and red (God knows I do) then you wouldn&#8217;t be able to stop yourself! Let&#8217;s do this! <img src='http://www.droid-life.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':-P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><em>Instructions after the jump&#8230;</em></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong><em><span id="more-14032"></span> </em></strong></p>
<blockquote><p>*For original Motorola Droid only.</p></blockquote>
<p>1. Gotta be running the ShadowROM. Pick it up in ROM Manager.</p>
<p>2. Download the Red-Incognito theme here &#8212;-&gt; <a href="http://forum.droid-life.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&amp;t=452&amp;p=5817#p5747">Incognito-Red</a></p>
<p>3. Place the zip on the root of your SD Card and flash using Clockwork Recovery.</p>
<p>4. Download these files. Inside are themed APK&#8217;s to match this theme! Just download them then UNZIP the folder and install them as normal APK&#8217;s. <a href="http://jbthemes.com/bgill55/Incognito%20Common%20Apps.zip">ESPN, Audio Widget, Pandora</a> and <a href="http://jbthemes.com/bgill55/Incognito%20Red%20Apps.zip">Twitter, and ADW (ADW is VERY important)</a>.</p>
<p>5. Enjoy!</p>

<p>Wouldn&#8217;t it be handy to have an app that allows your phone to send notifications of incoming calls, texts, voicemails or even low battery warnings to your desktop?  Then check out a new player in the smartphone-to-computer game called <strong>Android (Remote) Notifier</strong>.</p>
<p>Remote Notifier allows your device, when connected over wi-fi or Bluetooth, to send a variety of notifications to your desktop which as your brain might have just realized, is super handy especially if you were to be, let&#8217;s say, sitting in a conference room with your phone on silent?  Think about it.  Win.</p>
<p><strong>Download the phone application </strong><a href="http://code.google.com/p/android-notifier/downloads/list"><strong>here</strong></a><strong>.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Download the desktop application </strong><a href="http://code.google.com/p/android-notifier-desktop/downloads/list"><strong>here</strong></a><strong>.</strong></p>
<p>You will need both in order for this to work.  Simply install them, connect to a wi-fi network and send over a test notifcation.  It really is as simple as that.</p>
<p>*I should note that it does not appear to be working with Google Voice texts, but does work with GV phone calls.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">____________________________________________</p>
<p><strong>Dr. Root, How can i use multiple static wallpapers?</strong></p>
<p>Well. before last week I would have told you that it&#8217;s not possible. I&#8217;ll explain why. The Android operating system handles wallpapers by screen size and as you scroll or swipe from one screen to another it shows only a portion of the wallpaper. There is a technical explanation that involves a lot of math and layout jargon which I will not go into.  Your solution?  <span id="more-13958"></span></p>
<p><strong>MultiPicture Live Wallpaper.</strong> Whats that you say, lwp? Yes I know what your thinking, I don&#8217;t want to use a live wallpaper. Trust me you do. MultiPicture live wallpaper allows you to select up to 7 different images to use on your screens. It also has transition effects from one screen to another, as well as double tap to change picture and a few more goodies for you to play with.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://s3.appbrain.com/screen?id=-8755201178322677327&amp;i=2" alt="" /> <img src="http://s3.appbrain.com/screen?id=-8755201178322677327&amp;i=1" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.appbrain.com/app/org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture">MultiPicture LWP</a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a rel="attachment wp-att-13974" href="http://www.droid-life.com/2010/09/10/ask-doctor-root-wallpapers-icons-and-rom-manager-recovery-fix-for-the-x/chart-multi-picture-lwp-2/"><img class="size-full wp-image-13974 aligncenter" src="http://www.droid-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/chart-multi-picture-lwp1.png" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Dr. Root  I need more icons on my screen but have no more room. What do I do?</strong></p>
<p>Well personally, I prefer a more minimalistic screen, but since I know you all don&#8217;t  share my views, enter&#8230;<strong>MULTICON. </strong> This app acts as a widget and if used with <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/tag/launcherpro">LauncherPro</a> Plus&#8217; resizing and you can have up to 144 icons per screen.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://s4.appbrain.com/screen?id=-591204111617948784&amp;i=1" alt="Screenshot of Multicon Widget" /> <img src="http://s4.appbrain.com/screen?id=-591204111617948784&amp;i=2" alt="Screenshot of Multicon Widget" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.h9kdroid.multicon">Multicon Widget</a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=qr&amp;chs=150x150&amp;chl=market://search%3Fq%3Dpname:com.h9kdroid.multicon" alt="" /></p>
<p><strong>Dr. Root, I can&#8217;t boot into recovery from Rom Manager on my Droid X. What do I do?</strong></p>
<p>This is an easy one folks. Simply uninstall Rom Manager and re-run <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/2010/08/19/koush-releases-droid-x-bootstrap-allows-full-nandroid-backups-custom-roms/">Koush&#8217;s Bootstrap app</a>. Reinstall Rom Manager and re-flash clockworkmod recovery. This should fix the issue.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.droid-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/galaxy-tab1.png"><img class="size-large wp-image-13277 aligncenter" title="galaxy tab1" src="http://www.droid-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/galaxy-tab1-600x316.png" alt="" width="600" height="316" /></a></p>
<p>Current <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/tag/android">Android</a> isn&#8217;t meant for tablets?  But, but, there are so many out there running 2.1 and 2.2!  Google realizes this, and they are not supporting almost all of these devices.  In fact, any Android tablet running a current build has a pretty good chance of never being supported according to Hugo Barra, director of products for mobile at Google&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;&#8230;the way Android Market works is it&#8217;s not going to be available on devices that don&#8217;t allow applications to run correctly. Which devices do, and which don&#8217;t will be unit specific, but Froyo is not optimised for use on tablets.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;If you want Android market on that platform, the apps just wouldn&#8217;t run, [Froyo] is just not designed for that form factor. We want to make sure that we&#8217;re going to create a application distribution mechanism for the Android market, to ensure our users have right experience.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>And yes, Google is well aware that the Samsung Galaxy Tab (pictured above) is only running <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/tag/froyo">Android 2.2</a>, but obviously made the cut or is simply considered a &#8220;phone&#8221; rather than a tablet.</p>
<p>So should we expect <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/tag/gingerbread">Gingerbread</a> or <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/tag/honeycomb">Honeycomb</a> to be something built specifically for tablets?  I&#8217;d sure put some money on it <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/2010/09/02/android-honeycomb-confirmed-for-tablets-coming-next-year/">especially after seeing quotes</a> from Samsung&#8217;s head of mobile communications last week at their tablet launch.  If his word means anything, Honeycomb is the ticket.</p>

<p>Remember you can pick up these red and white official HTC backs by handing the SKUs we&#8217;ve listed below to a Verizon rep.  Reports are coming in that they will set you back $24.99 which seems a little steep, but remember, EVO owners had to buy an entire new phone to get white.</p>

<p>So you should now have the <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/2010/09/08/download-official-r2-d2-droid-2-boot-animation/">official boot animation</a>, <a href="http://www.droid-life.com/2010/09/08/download-leaked-r2-d2-live-wallpapers/">live wallpaper set</a>, and now the static wallpapers.  Is there anything else you can think of? You basically have your own little special edition Star Wars Android phone after this week.  Good stuff.</p>
